It was Halloween. Fans had other priorities. This game occurs a week later and the stands would at least wait until the 4th quarter for the mass exodus

Love how people always include the year one record with the complete crap that TOB left behind. That was totally Doeren's fault

was just listening to David Glenn and he said he was at the game and the fans in the parking lot and the stadium were "oustanding" (i think that's the term he used)

^^yes, DD deserves some slack for taking over that shitty team.

but it doesn't change the fact that as NC State's coach, he is 4-16 in the ACC. i actually kinda like DD...i'd consider myself a DD supporter. but his record is his record.

the same red flags that were there during his first year are still there in his third, regardless of talent-level

You seem to think most coaching takes place during the game. games are won and lost 3 and 4 years prior to being played. most of a head coaches job is behind the scenes. recruiting, training and developing players over the 4 years they are with you. building teams of players with skills that fit together. building a culture. none of this happens instantly.

^^Just because Michigan's program started at a higher level than ours, doesn't mean that statement isn't true. Right now, their junior and senior class are the #4 and #6 rated classes from their respective years and harbough, is only getting slightly better results than us with classes in the 50s.

Hell, if you look at our 2011 guys, ranked in the 70s, guys like rose, hill, hakim jones. Those are our "star" players and they were mostly 2 star recruits. Subjectively speaking, we are outperforming teams with more experienced talent and Michigan is underperforming with respect to their upperclassman talent level.

[Edited on November 2, 2015 at 2:52 PM. Reason : clemson's 11,12,13 classes rank 10,15,15. subectively speaking, we shouldn't have been in the game]

so you're telling me you wouldn't be criticizing him if we went 5-7 instead of 3-9 in the first year? In hindsight, what difference does that make knowing that we turned the corner in year 2?

I'm through with this fucktward, he's a whiny phony coach whose always making excuses. The table was set with him with the Louisville game, perfect environment, 4-0 start albeit shitty competition, and haven't lost since the previous year. That was a clusterfuck of coaching, you can blame the weather, bad fumble luck, but still shitty coaching when you punt in your own opponents territory. Having a kicker this bad is laughable, I never seen a kicker as bad even in the worst conferences I mean you can't make this stuff up. Losing to a shitty VT team that Even ECU beat is pathetic. Every game that we have a lead against a good opponent that lead magically evaporates because hs sucks. He will win some decent games probably against UNC because he hates them as much as the most spirited State fan, but he's not the guy to raise the bar for this team. He only beats the shittiest teams in the ACC, and when he plays the top ones they occasionally blow us out or hang 40-50+ points on us. Rinse and repet, I've seen this shit too many times while UNC will play for a conference championship, LOL.

well, you only have a few more weeks to deal with him, then he is off for Memphis according to the experts...

Possible candidates:

Norm Chow - Ex HC at Hawaii, former State OC
Ryan Gasser - TE and Special Teams coach at Toledo
Marcus Woodson - DB coach at Fresno State
Butch Davis - former HC at Miami and UNC. Might be snatched up my Miami again
Hal Mumme - former HC at Kentucky, NMSU, Valdosta State

It's a toss up between Chow and Mumme for me, Mumme would bring the Air Raid to the Carter-Finley.

The Twittersphere is saying Butch Jones might want to step up to a big boy football league, so that's a possibility. Once Clemson wins the ACC's 2nd title in the last 3 years, all the haters will have to respect the powerhouse that is the ACC.

ACC! ACC! ACC!

guys, I am keeping this objective, we are all adults here. You should be excited by the candidates, I know I am. Someone mentioned it a few pages back about the lack of ST effort, getting a coach with ST coaching exp would be huge

How about Dan Quinn? Neither he nor Doeren can win a division game, so it'd be a good transition.

I want Doeren gone so badly that I hope UNC beats us by three touchdowns just to get him out of here. He's one of the worst football coaches I ever seen and this football program is a joke. Lets see year 1, won 0 ACC games and blames it on not having his right QB. Remember the THIS IS OUR STATE slogan, and remember going 0-4 against ALL IN STATE teams. Year 2, beats Only the shittest ACC teams and wins a bowl game against South Flordia. Year three is still pending but we play 4 shitty non-conference teams and wins (he gets credit), and continues the trends of beating only the shittest teams in the ACC. Nothing to see here folks, three years and a crappy ACC record is pretty telling of how good a coach is. I'm not asking him to win the ACC, but at least beat teams like Louisville & VT. Jacoby will be yet another NCSU QB in the pros he's good he just have the leisure of playing for DD. We invest millions into state of the art facilities but still can't pay enough money to hire a big time football coach?

lolololol at all the Dave hate. People acting like we're not a better football at this point than we were last year.

Unless he leaves on his own, he'll be here next year at the very least, and likely the year after that.

I wouldnt be surprised if he got a call from minnesota. Knows the region, from Kill's coaching tree. Think people are complaining now, wait until we're looking at skip holtz on the sidelines

? I dont think speculation about the new head coach at NC State is trolling

Sandman at least can have a rational discussion. I am thinking Gasser with Chow as the OC may be the best option. He worked miracles when he was at State before with Rivers: "Under Chow's tutelage, quarterback Philip Rivers broke seven school passing records and was named ACC Freshman of the Year"

exactly, proud of you for maturing rwoody. Now, let's stay on topic. If Chow can work a miracle with P. Riv then he can definitely do something with our QB next week given the current college football environment and prevailing trends.

As long as he keeps beating 100% of the teams with less talent while improving our talent , he has ultimate credibility. I can never remember a time in NC State athletics where we consistently took care of business all games against weaker opponents. Until now.
