Dannenmann took a big pot off Turner about a little more than an hour ago. It took Turner down to 30,000 chips.

Hopefully, Turner got some revenge.

Aggressive player raised to 3k (500/1000 blinds), Dannenmann reraised to 8k... Idiot on big blind who shoud've just pushed all in with his 30k just calls with AK. Aggressive player calls as well. The flop is 78T, the AK smoothcaller checks, agg. player checks, and Dannenmann bets 13k. AK folds (now the right play), and agg. player makes it 30k... Dannenmann screws up badly by now pushing all in for about 50k more. The amount didn't matter though as agg. player had flopped the nuts with J8suited. Dannenmann flipped up KTo, got no help and was out.

Earlier, my big pot with Dannenmann went as follows: I was on the button with A8o, and a bad player limped from the cutoff (500/1000 blinds). So I limped as well in position. Small blind limped, and Dannenmann raised 3k on top from the BB. I really didn't think he was strong at all, and I figured I could outplay him postflop anyway (with position), and so after the first limper folded, I called (the sb also folded). The flop came 842, so I had tptk. Steve bet 5k, and not wanting to commit too many chips at the time just in case I was behind, I just called. The turn was a T, and now he bet 10k. My read was that I was ahead on the flop, and I didn't see him having AT, KT, etc... so I still thought I was ahead, and I called again. River... A! He bet out 10k again, and since I didn't think he could pay me off with anything here, and the bet was odd to me, I just called. Low and behold, he raised from the bb with ATo, and hit a perfect runner runner! That took me from about 75k to about 30k early.

I felt really good about my play overall today - 3 great reads, two of which fucked me though. One hand, I called 4k preflop (blinds were 600/1200 with 200 ante) in position with AQ. The flop came KQ3, and the preflop raiser oddly moved all in for $32k! Even though he was brand new to the table, I felt like I had a really good read on him, and that I was ahead at the moment. There were two clubs on board, and my precise read was either AT or AJ of clubs. So I made the call... he flipped up JT... no flush draw, just open ended, and I had one of his outs. Turn, 4, river, 9. Most devastating river of my life... literally. I would've had around 100k if I won the hand, but instead I had 24k left.

I fought back again to about 48k, and then had the following hand come up. I raised in mid position, standard raise to 3.5k with KQ (blinds were 600/1200/200 ante). I got reraised all in from late position for 20k more. I really felt like he wasn't THAT strong, and at worst I was up against 88 or 99 or so (i.e. a race at worst, and I may be way ahead), so I called. He flipped up KJ! He was pissed that I'd called that many chips off with KQ, but my read was that it was good, so what can ya do? Anyway, I won that hand with K high... better kicker, and knocked him out. So now I was back to 73k!

Just a few hands later, I raised on the button with AK. The bb called me, and the flop came J82. He checked, I checked. The turn was a blank... he bet out 6k. I really thought that he felt I was stealing, now sensed weakness, and was making a play. So I called, with just A high, no draw. The river was a Q. Now he checked... I felt he might've had a mid pair or so, but now, especially with my smoothcall on the turn, I could probably take the pot away. I bet 13k... which was a bad mistake. He had... you guessed it, KQ. My A high was good as I thought on the turn... he hit a 3 outer on the river. So then I was back to 50k.

A few small loses later after I missed flops after I'd raised and a few blinds later, and I was down around 32k. I proceeded to raise with 23suited... flopped a flush draw, bet it out, and got reraised all in. At this point, if I folded, I'd've had about 24k left, but if I called and hit my flush, I would've been around 80k. I decided it was worth it to gamble at this point... my opponent had flopped 2 pair, and boated up on the turn after the all in... so I ended up going out in the 9th level with the mighty 3 high!

Overall, I was happy with my play, I just did not get the cards, or have a few big favorites hold up... (only got AA once each day, winning small pots both times), and I didn't hit a set all day today... one flush, no straights... tough to get anything going like that.

Wow, I think I just became a victim of the worst chasing ever. I forgot to copy the hand history because I was pretty fuckin' pissed.

So, I had a pretty decent stack late in a $30 7-Stud tourney. Bets are 100/200.

I get KhQhJh and there aren't many high cards showing. I raise in second position to build up the pot. I get a few callers.

Js on fourth street, so I lead out with 200. Two callers. One guy has two tens showing.

Jc on fifth street, I bet another 200. Two tens picks up a third and calls, other guy folds. I seriously doubt he has quads, and know he doesn't have a boat.

Blank on sixth, he picks up an eight. I bet, he calls.

Blank on seventh, I bet (shouldn't have, looking back on it). He calls. He hit another eight on seventh street to boat up.

My biggest problem with his play is that he could have been drawing to one out at best, possibly even dead, since I led out with a raise (I had been playing solid the whole tourney).

I busted out a couple hands later but made it all back in blackjack afterwards.

I'm really enjoying the play on pokerstars. Much better than pokerroom. Most important, I'm actually ahead a decent amount of $ in one week, unlike the past few months at PR.

But here's one for you conspiracy folks... In the SnGs I've played
Last night I busted in 7th place twice with QQ vs. KK
Tonight I busted in 2nd twice with 55 and 66 vs AQ, both turning broadway.

The 2nd heads up game pissed me off. I was up 8300 to 5000 to start, and the guy routinely folded from small blind, and folded when he whiffed the flop/board or to most of my standard raises pre-flop, so i could never get any big pots. All the while talking all kinds of shit. The he proceeds to outkick me to draw even. When i work it back to 9k, the card that gives me 2 pair gives him a straight at the river, and suddenly we've reversed. Then I lose on the hand mentioned above.

Can someone explain heads up poker online to me? I think I'm at least ok in a live game, but my recent lack of success in it online has left me completely clueless (it extends much beyond the 2 game streak from today). Since I only play SnGs and MTTs online, I need to find a spark here again.

Part of it may just be mental lock though, as I've lost so many times now, I just expect to.

The $100 UB tourney had 159 (but it was a $18,000 gauranteed... and they didn't reach that)

Yeah, Ben, I'd be planning to play the Wynn tourney no matter what, so of course!

Played some on pokerstars, yeah the tournament format is much MUCH better than party. You get nearly double the chips to start so that you can run into a few bad hands and still have enough to climb back in it. Kicking around the freeroll tournaments to try and knock a few bad habits of mine, namely letting people draw a runner-runner straight on me.

May sound stupid, but once you survive the early going play becomes much more reasonable....

^no, it is true!

Once I get past the first hour, I do well. The first hour is when all the stupid shit happens and people are trying to get chips hard.

I need to play tourneys more...

On a side note, I read something in a book I realy like. Play like the best would play. It sounds so simple. If you see someone who plays well, next time you play, say, "I am going to play like XXX would play today". Way simple, and it puts you in a different mindset to play.

OMG please don't say "donk". I can't stand all the people saying that now just because they heard it during the WSOP on TV.

^BTW, that kid is a fucking moron. He went to a $19,000 a year highschool before college, so his parents are obviously loaded, and he only lost $5k and figured he had to go rob a bank to solve his problem?? He should have just been a man and owned up to his parents and asked them for the money to help him. He deserves to go to jail, we don't need idiots like him running around.

Speaking of Doyle... he just took over the chip lead, 3-handed in the $15k main event at Bellagio (the same tourney I busted around 160th in the other day). It's now Doyle vs. two relatively unknown Europeans, and Doyle has half the chips in play!

On a side note, I've got a lot of chips in the 12:10am $30+3 rebuy tourney on party... over 9k for first, and we're a couple players away from the money.

i'd like some feedback from the guys in here that regularly cash in the mtts

beginning of tourney, level two, you are under the gun and have a slightly bigger than average stack, but nothing crazy

you get wired ladies, how do you play it, big blind had a-k i pushed hard preflop and lost the coinflip, would you guys usually just call the raise or reraise and make sure the flop looked safe before pushing, or would you take the race, trying to accumulate some chips early on?

i don't cash regularly, so my opinion is probably worthless, but early on i probably wouldn't push them. maybe just call the raise, then place a value bet regardless of the flop based on your position. if you get reraised on the flop then you're probably beat. jmo

see i was thinking worst case scenario it'd be a flip (which it was), but there was a good chance i had the edge, i wanted to make him pay to hit his ace

see my previous inclination would've been to be patient with them and make sure the flop looked clear, but I'm trying to work on being a little more aggressive early on, taking any +ev chance i get to try to build my stack early. That's why i'm asking this bc it sort of goes against how I've previously approached tourneys, but idk, i'm particularly interested to see what side of the coin pilgrim and turner subscribe to

and your opinion isn't worthless at all thanks for the post
