do any of you guys remember seeing a video of someone racing (a BMW i think) in gran turismo prologue and it shows 3 different views. the main one is an in-car view, then at the bottom it has a view showing the player working the pedals and another view showing the steering wheel and shifting.

God knows having the privilege of initially paying $500+ to play the same game that was released on a $300 console is a huge blow to 360 owners.

ah yes, the other tried and true argument of "well it used to cost a lot more" that helps you ignore the fact that the PS3 has outsold the 360 over the last 3 months and is outpacing them in sales over comparable timelines

early adopters for the PS3 paid more and got more features...early adopters of the 360 got a flawed console hardware problems...but it was cheaper!!

Personally I think the extra money is well worth it. I initially had a 360 but I've gotta say I'm much more impressed with the ps3 so far. Pros of PS3 over 360:

-No $100 wireless adapter
-No $50+/year online fee
-No $150+ add-on BluRay drive (if they ever come out with one)
-PSN store allows you to purchase games/DLC for their exact cost without having to buy a set amount of points (one of my biggest pet peeves with Microsoft and Wii Points)
-Downloaded games can be played on not 1, but 5 different consoles (it's a huge pain in the ass when you're sent a replacement 360 and want full access to all your downloaded content, this is one of the main reasons I started looking at getting a ps3)

And all the Sony haters keep talking about how there are no games to play, but as I recall the 360 had a slow start itself

it's a global id for Konami games. They also release games on the Xbox.

as far as the PSN, I think they are really starting to whip it into shape. I've been thoroughly unimpressed so far, save for a few of the games they've put out on it that have been innovative (and the fact that it's free). But with the new store (slick as shit), and the things they're promising this year (video download service, in-game XMB, Home, etc...) I think they are truly on their way to rivaling Xbox Live.

Lots of game companies ask you about information on different consoles you own. Konami makes Xbox 360 games too.

Like I said, you can still most likely just go pre-order MGS4 at any game store and get the pre-order bonus disc that comes with the beta key. I doubt they've completely run out of them anywhere, just call and ask before showing up. Worst case scenario, you pay $5 to pre-order, get the beta key, and then just cancel the pre-order if you hate the beta.

And yeah, the Konami ID thing is a bit ridiculous. I'm hoping this is just for the beta so they can use it gather information from the testers and the final release uses your PSN ID (and Home integration). Does anyone have PES 2008 and know what it uses?

incorrect. There is a minimum charge amount to your credit card. Lets not mislead people now. I know this is what this thread is all about but that doesn't make it right.

again...misleading. You can play any downloaded content on any xbox without having to 're-download' because you have what we call a removable hard drive. When you send your PS3 in you have to re-download everything especially if they send you a new one. With the 360 you keep your hard drive.




speaking of heat issues. I'd like to report that my PS3 over heated last night because watching a regular DVD requires too much power and thus leads to overheating. At least my Xbox360 has never done that.

My PS3 has shut off twice while watching a normal DVD. I searched all over the net about that problem. Oh well

Honestly, you act like you know so much about this shit but you clearly know very little. Google "360 drm issues" and educate yourself. Now compare that to just being able to login to your account on up to 5 PS3s and be able to download all your PSN purchases to them.

As for the the PS3 overheating, well I can't speak to that since it's never happened to me. I would wager you're probably keeping it in an enclosed cabinet. Just be happy it was actually smart enough to turn off when it overheated rather than turning itself into a paper weight like that other console.

It's actually sitting on an aircrate that made for electronics to sit on. It's over 18 inches from the wall on the back side and it has no overhead blockage (except my ceiling 9 feet from the top of the ps3)


I know how to care for my electronics... Why do you think my 360 has never RRoD? Because I'm smart enough to not put it where it can't breath. But my PS3 just shut off twice. It's no big deal, I understand that upconversion of a DVD takes a lot of power and creates a lot of heat. I don't watch SD-DVDs from my PS3 any more because I don't want to worry.

^^Hmmm, I don't know then. That really shouldn't be happening. I'd say check to make sure the vents aren't clogged with dust. Have you tried doing this?

Also, do you have it sitting vertically or horizontally? It supposedly cools better when its sitting vertically, since the exhaust vent is up top and heat rises (duh). If you have it sitting horizontally then it's the right side you need to make sure is unobstructed. If this happened to me I would definitely call Sony, because it's not something that should be happening and you may have a lemon.

uh...actually the PS3 is NOT smart enough to turn itself off. It just popped up a message that said "Turn off the console immediately and do not turn it back on until it is cooled" or something along those lines.

when i came to switch it off it was too hot to touch where the main power switch is.

I knocked out all the races i could do in a Mini Cooper in C class at lunch today. woot. I probably shouldve gotten the HypeR though. it handled a lot better in the demo than the Mini is in game.
