He’s a huge LOTR guy and he’s getting agitated by numerous factual errors in the conversation. He keeps looking like he wants to turn around yell at them, but I kinda motion for him not to, since I’m just trying to eat and don’t want to cause a scene. Eventually, he can’t take it anymore and turns around and just unloads on them, calling them every name in the book and telling them that Tolkien would be rolling in his grave, that they should be ashamed to even call themselves fans of the genre, all sorts of nasty stuff. The kids just sit there in stunned silence as he goes on a 10 minute diatribe. After a while, they saunter off with their tales between their legs and Eric and I exchange high fives. He asked me if I’m going to the party, which up to this point I’m unaware of. His face lights up and he tells me about this Internal Cumshot Party at Steve’s house. This was all news to me, but the basic premise was that you partnered up with someone and banged them till you busted inside, then swapped with someone else. (Swapping here meaning swapping partners, not swapping cum in a “snowball” fashion). We made plans to meet up at his house to pregame before heading out there later that night. And then it stops. I woke up. We never get to go to the party. I’ve been pissed all morning thinking about it because I’m not sure I’ll ever have a dream like that again. I rarely have sex dreams. I dream about football and work and Chinese food and flight delays and prostate cancer. This was a one time dream for me, and my fucking alarm clock blew it for me. Goddammit. "

I know this is ridiculous because I barely knew this person and I hadn't seen them in years, but I felt that when I woke up this morning I had just left something that was more important than anything in my life. I felt that I had just left it, that leaving that dream was saying goodbye to this person and that reality, that reality that only existed within that dream, forever. I tried many times to go back to sleep this morning, to try to reach her again, but I was never able to. I feel this urge to contact this woman, but what the hell would I say to her? Would I tell her that I had this remarkable dream in which we were meant to be together? I would be this person that she would barely even remember... and it would accomplish nothing. And that's the saddening part about this. The emotions I felt during that dream were so strong that they're staying with me even now right before I go to bed the night after. I feel like I have just ended a relationship, a relationship that only existed in my mind, and something that I will never get back no matter how hard I try. It's something I never even had in the first place."
