yeah I agree, if they keep making films the Lizard will appear eventually, I just think there are more significant villains still left to use

Mysterio or Hydroman for example

other minor villains that might be cool: Rhino (just for a laugh), Scorpion, Shocker, Vulture

also, Black Cat would kind of be cool (but she's not really that bad)

I was disappointed. It was over the top and cheesy in a lot of parts. In the group I went with, it drew comparisons with "Batman and Robin". The dialogue was HORRIBLE. Whoever wrote the script really dropped the ball. Some of the scenes, that I'll mention in the spoilers thread had me shaking my head in pain.

it was entertaining.

and I liked it relatively and non-relatively way more than X3

^batman and robin comparison is just silly imo.

was that the one with Mr Freeze?

Just got back from seeing it at the IMAX

***SPOILERS***

The best part was when Peter was beating up the guys in the Jazz club and he accidently hit MJ... some little kid in the audience yelled out "HE JUST SMACKED HIS OWN GIRLFRIEND!!"

I really wish they would have done more with Venom. I know that Topher Grace isn't a huge guy, but they could have at least made him huge when he was wearing the black suit. And they definitely killed him off too easily.

Bruce Campbell, however, did a great job.

Venom was big enough...they just didn't do enough with him

I didn't like how much they made it out to be Brock in a suit as opposed to symbiote/host...aka "WE ARE VENOM!"

They were going more for the "Brock is a dark version of Peter" type feel with it..

The CGI was okay. Not great, but it got the job done. The characterization was lacking.

i laughed extremely loud when that happened and no one else did. that was the only thing holding me back from sticking a gun in the manager's face to get my money back. i at least enjoyed 5 seconds of 2.5 hours.

I got a kick out of the movie. Was not as good as the others, but I enjoyed it. But if I had a dime for every time somebody cried in the movie, I could have paid for my ticket.

***SPOILERS WARNING***

Oh yeah and when Mary Jane kissed Harry for the first time some guy yelled out 'WHORE', and the whole theater was rolling. I think the audience made the movie more enjoyable laughing at what was supposed to be a serious moment or a few black girls behind me who would chime in with a bunch of 'oh no he diiint' type comments reacting to shit in the movie. It was like mystery science theater or something.

Oh yeah and how about all those actors with bit parts from Sam Raimi's old tv shows like Xena and Hercules, Bruce Campbell as a french maître d' was funny in itself from the sheer ridiculousness of it.

Bruce Campbell's scene, which I think is his best role in the 3 movies, was one of the only things watchable in the movie. The action scenes at the beginning were great, but the movie fell apart half way and felt like they were just trying to tie up loose ends and finish the movie.

Entertaining because of good action, CGI, and comedy. Some corniness, and not the best script, and they completely butchered the original story, but it is a comic book movie people.

Gwen Stacy was bangin, he shoulda dumped Mary Jane's worthless ass for her.

Bruce Cambell was great.

The Green Goblin looked bad ass with the all black suit and right side of his face fucked up.

one of the most disappointing movie experiences ever

the CGI from the get-go was pretty shitty for a Spider-Man movie

the transitions from scene to scene were too quick--even for a comic book movie. things just didn't flow well. it was like they took the plots for 2 or 3 movies.stories and chopped them up to show only the "important" scenes

the villains were poorly developed and didn't reach their potential

the meteorite thing was an interesting introduction, but they failed to present the whole symbiote story well. how did it get from the park to his apartment? then half an hour later he discovers it and then we just randomly cut to Dr. Conners looking at it under a microscope at some blob bullying around other blobs...pretty weak

during the final fight scene venom takes off spidey's mask and then in the next scene he has his mask back on--no showing him take out another mask...its just there

no one took emo-peter seriously....the whole transformation was just horrible and over acted. even if it was supposed to be that way, it didn't work.

did anyone actually believe the new "how uncle ben really was murdered" story?

every 2 minutes they pulled something from out in left field and you just had to ask yourself: "why was someone allowed to make this movie this way??"

bruce campbell was about the only highlight of the film but only because his part was expected to be random and from out in left field

and i still get a kick out of the crowds in the street looking up in amazement every 15 minutes

movie could have been way better...and it should have been

In addition to killing MJ, I was also expecting Venom to throw Peter down to the ground so that his identity would be exposed. Sort of like what happened in the cartoon.

But while I think Topher Grace did a good job of portraying Eddie Brock, Eddie came off as being a total prick for the sake of being a total prick, and by extension Venom was "evil" for the sake of being "evil." In the canon, didn't Brock pretty much lead a really tough life? And then his career more or less gets ruined, to which he attributes Spiderman for his downfall. It just seems to me that in the comics, Brock really got shat on, blames Spiderman for nearly all of it, and through the symbiote is finally given the power to start getting back at the people he blames for all of his troubles. But here in the movie, he just hates Peter/Spiderman for shit that was his own fault to begin with (like that photoshop he passed off).

^true

But you can't expect strict adherence to accepted continuity in these film adaptations, can you?

Also, I thought whoever becomes infected with the symbiote automatically learns the secrets and history of all of the symbiote's previous victims. Am I mistaken?

Also, they did show Peter picking up his mask in a very quick (<1 second) flash.

Anyways, just got back.

wasn't his mask all ripped up and you could see part of his face before it was pulled off

his new mask was rip-less, like it had never been pulled off in the first place

never the less...this movie was overly cheesy. people were laughing at the movie, not with the movie. its like they took the whole "raindrops keep falling on my head" scene from the second one and made an entire movie from that perspective

Quote :

no, but you can expect to be told a story that flows well and doesn't cut from scene to scene because they don't know how to make the transition from one part to another

they did a piss poor job of showing how each character got from where they were at the beginning of the movie to where they ended up at the end. could have been a lot better. i'm really glad i wasn't anticipating this movie like everyone who was going psycho over how awesome it was that they were going to get to see venom

[Edited on May 5, 2007 at 9:35 PM. Reason : they don't even mention him as venom in the movie do they?]

I'll admit it did not flow as well as the first two, but I guess I felt comfotable enough with the characters after two films that it still worked for me. Ah well. Where Hot Fuzz gave me incredible disappointment, Spidey3 gave me redemption just four days later.

This one didn't live up to my expectations. But it's still an entertaining movie (a long one at that.) It would have been awesome if they had cut down the cliches.. (the uncle ben story / MJ's performance etc.)

I understand that they wanted drama and that Peter is a bit emotionally sensitive, but another thing that annoyed me was how everyone was a big blubbering vagina in every other scene.

After reading this thread, I guess I'm the only person on the planet that liked Spiderman 1 more than Spiderman 2. The ending for Spidey 2 seriously ruined the rest of the movie for me. We got an entire movie of Doc Ock being a badass supervillian, and then the entire resolution of the movie was Peter convincing him to stop. LAME!

/off topic rant.

I was wondering the same thing, but I check IMDB and he isn't even credited for this movie. If it wasn't him it was a strong look a like and a weird place to put someone that looked like him in the movie.

It is possible to be in a movie uncredited. I thought it looked like him too, only younger. Maybe Willem Dafoe is like Gary Busey in that he has a son that looks freakishly similar to himself.

Yeah I am sure he is credited in the movie credits, but I assumed since IMDB didn't list the movie under the actor's profile the scene's were originally filmed during the 2nd movie maybe just not a part of the original cut. Didn't he have similar dialogue in the second movie from the mirror?
