Totally agreed. No matter what, if she is lying, she needs to be punished for it. Think of all the money (ex: those DNA kits) that has already been wasted on this case, in addition to the turmoil it's caused in the community, and for those lacrosse players. But, I'm sure, if she is found to be lying and anything is done to punish her, that race card is going to be played again, tenfold.

I go to the Kroger on Hillsborough Rd. where she was picked up by the Police and my normal cashier was telling me that the customer service person working that night said she was totally shitfaced, but that she couldn't really tell me anymore since they're not supposed to talk about it much. Interestingly enough, at this same Kroger a few years ago, my dad got into a line that was marked Express with something like one item more than the limit. The black woman in front of him had a TON of groceries, and was chatting with the (also black) cashier forever. When the cashier started the conveyor to move his groceries down, she said to him "Sir, this is the express lane, you're going to have to go somewhere else" when there was no one else in line behind him. So my dad, being a cantankerous, 60 year old Army-vet said to her "You wouldn't have said that if I was black". She looked so shocked that my dad actually said anything to her that she just finished bagged his groceries and said "Have a nice day" when he left. *shrugs* There's always an interesting perspective to everything, but normally, I don't think race relations are so pronounced in Durham, at least what I can see from my 13 years living here.

I was at the Bryan Center (behind Duke Chapel - kind of like Talley) Wednesday afternoon and it was a media frenzy. The entire small parking lot in front was roped off and there was a sign that said "restricted to Media". There was a huge van there from every major news network and trailors and everything. Considering they don't want to get any more negatively publicity (giving a girl a heart transplant with the wrong blood type, washing surgical tools in hydraulic fluid, having a whole block of neighbors complain about rowdy parties - yes I know there's a difference between Duke Hospital and Duke U, but on a national scale, people pretty much associate the two together), I found it interesting they were so accomodating to the Media. Perhaps to help spin the story their way when the truth is revealed? I really do not think that any of these fellows are guilty of rape. Did something happen at that party? Defintely. But I don't think she was raped there, or at least by any lacrosse players. Does anyone know how she got from that house to Kroger, which is a good ~3 miles away (a walk a female wouldn't want to take in the dark alone - not the best of places to be in)?

1. stripper claims to be raped
2. said stripper can't identify her attackers
3. everyone at the party says it didn't happen and stick together
4. photographic evidence of her injuries having been pre-existing
5. no dna evidence to prove the account
6. email sent by one party goer mere hours after the time of the alleged rape does not make sense if a rape actually happened
7. claimant has a history of law breaking and generally being a dipshit

it's pretty safe to say the DA has absolutely nothing that will get a conviction

I think she freaked out after the players were racist, condescending, threatening, etc. and came up with the rape story at that time. She may have wanted to get them back for something that was said. She was probably too fucked up then to really consider the fallout from it. Lord knows we have all seen women do crazy shit on the news and everyone fell for it then it turned out to be a hoax. (runaway bride, susan smith, etc, etc.)
