someone probably mentioned this, but i didn't like how they clearly showed the phoenix outline in the water at the end of X2 while mentioning something about evolution leaping forward, then had the phoenix as merely a dual personality of jean's. i mean they had her rise in what i assume was fire from the water, then never showed it again

its almost best not to look at this movie in the same way you look at x2

while i'm glad it made boatloads of cash

if its "have another movie like x3" or "have no more x-men movies"

i'd almost say just put the horse down

but if they bring in a fresh director and actually put more than 8 weeks of preptime into it

As was said before, of all the things to gripe about this movie...this is pretty far down there.

That having been said. The Phoenix story probably represents the X-men's high point so I don't think they could have completely ignored it. As far as adapting it to the world they've created, I think it was fairly well done up to the point where she killed the Professor. I know a lot of people were complaining about Phoenix not being the cosmic force and some people were upset by them "making up" the story of it being a repressed part of Jean, however the story of Professor supressing part of Jeans powers is straight from the comics, and if you can't go cosmic then I think this was a pretty reasonable explanation. So you know for the end of X:2 and the first I dunno half hour of X:3 I'd say this is one of the things the movies have done well.
