Down 8.5 lbs since the first of Jan. Only 13 more to go. [Edited on February 11, 2007 at 9:00 PM. Reason : Sorry, I'm a dork. ]

if i lost 50 lbs a gust of wind would blow me away
2/11/2007 9:03:31 PM
i'd like to gain about 20
2/11/2007 9:05:02 PM
the best i've been able to do is gain 6lbs in 3 weeks. and even that was only by taking 3 protein shakes a day. my metabolism is thru the roof
2/11/2007 9:06:53 PM
protein shakes aren't what you need to be relying on to gain weight.
2/11/2007 9:19:23 PM
well i was trying to gain muscle actually. i was lifting and taking protein shakes. i was told at the time that was a good way to do it, but as i said, it didn't work very well. ultimately it just made me feel like shit all the time.
2/11/2007 9:24:11 PM
"feel like shit" as in feeling bloated and gassy?
2/11/2007 9:29:45 PM
yeah i guess. my stomach felt horrible, like i wanted to throw up after drinking those things. it only started happening after about 2 weeks so i gave it up. figured it wasn't worth it.
2/11/2007 9:32:39 PM
cheap protein powders are bad about that, especially if you are slightly lactose intolerant.
2/11/2007 9:41:15 PM
Hey is losing 1.3% body fat in three weeks good or shitty or average?
2/11/2007 9:43:23 PM
i usually go back up some on the weekends...but im hoping to hit -25lbs at tomorrows weigh in...but im guessing it will more than likely be 24 at the most.
2/11/2007 9:49:46 PM
any reduction in bodyfat is good. As far as how fast you're losing it, that's hard to tell. it depends on what percentage you started at; people with more to lose can lose weight faster than if they were closer to their ideal body weight.
2/11/2007 9:50:45 PM
What is a normal healthy body fat percentage?
2/11/2007 9:52:44 PM
2/11/2007 9:57:51 PM
Well according to that I'm "healthy".I certainnly don't look "healthy". Thanks by the way!
2/11/2007 9:59:41 PM
how are you getting your bodyfat checked? using bio-electrical impedance testing, or calipers, or charts? some methods aren't all that accurate. the mirror and your performance in the gym are usually the two best measures of how physically fit you are. sometimes bodyfat tests and scale readings can just play mind games with you.
2/11/2007 10:03:15 PM
That thing you hold in your hands up at shoulder-heighth........(sp).I think I need to increase my daily workout, while I'm still sweating I'm not seeing any changes. Jacob's ladder wears me out in 5 minutes though, I hate that bitch.
2/11/2007 10:05:02 PM
i used those electronic body fat readers before but they always came back as "error"
2/11/2007 10:06:11 PM
I'm obese kids make you fat[Edited on February 11, 2007 at 10:57 PM. Reason : durr]
2/11/2007 10:56:31 PM
^^^it's hard to see noticeable changes in a short period of time. sometimes it helps to take pictures of yourself at intervals so that you have something to compare yourself with. I think Weight-Watchers does this for people as one of their services.also, electrical calipers aren't very accurate. Don't put too much emphasis on the exact number reading you get. They are usually precise enough that if the number goes up or down, then your body fat level is going up or down at a corresponding ratio. In that respect they make excellent tools for ensuring that your diet is burning fat instead of just dropping water and/or muscle.
2/11/2007 11:04:21 PM
That's good then, I'd rather have real results than just losing water or crap like that.I was going to faint at the gym today. They're repainting the entire inside with latex paint and it has some wicked fumes. Lots of clients have been suffering. DUMB DUMB DUMB. Oh well, I got a 45 min workout out of it and a free personal trainer session. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath at all, not good when doing high intensity weight lifting....
2/13/2007 10:38:31 AM
it took me a year, but i lost like, 65lbs and have kept it off. took me a while, like 2 months, until i really started to see a difference tho.
2/13/2007 10:40:20 AM
You really need to work on your diet before you worry about working out - that's what makes the real difference.
2/13/2007 10:45:15 AM
Start small start by cutting out something from your diet. If you drink alot of soda then drink diet for a while then go to drinking water. If you eat alot of junk food just decrease the amount. don't go on a crazy diet that will make you not enjoy the food you eat.
2/13/2007 10:48:39 AM
I don't drink soda anymore. I get bad cravings for bad food but I'm slowly cutting it out. As long as I keep the junk out of the house I'll be fine. Work seems to be a problem where I have access to bad foods and everyone else brings in those good smelling treats, that's my biggest downfall. I haven't seen any results in the mirror, hopefully mine will be like yours, suddenly it'll all melt away!
2/13/2007 10:58:57 AM
down 22 lbs since new years, i'll race u to 50
2/13/2007 11:02:10 AM

2/13/2007 11:03:57 AM
^^ i'll race you to 50 - I've lost 25 since right after new years.GO!
2/13/2007 11:08:44 AM
I stopped drinking Coke Dec 1. I would occasionally have 3 sips (seriously) just so I didn't stop cold turkey (probably happened 6 times), but I haven't had a sip for a month. I only drink water and the occasional juice and milk really.I didn't think anyone would notice an 8.5 weight loss but A LOT of people have. Even my grandmother who usually calls me fat said she was proud. hah.My favorite diet-y type snack is Quaker Rice Snacks... I love those things... They are huge and GOOD and 50 calories a pop. Can't go wrong. So I am excited I only have 13 more to go by May 4th and then I am down to where I was in college weight. [Edited on February 13, 2007 at 12:10 PM. Reason : Oh and btw, Coke is the only soft drink I used to drink.]
2/13/2007 12:09:03 PM
Hawt gettin' hawtter.
2/13/2007 12:11:54 PM
I certainly don't look like I've lost weight. I can't pinch as much fattttttttt but the mirror is a bitch ass ho that needs to stfu before I kick it in its face YO!I'm going everyday now so hopefully this will speed things along. My trainer was like "Nooooo the slow turtle wins the race." Whatever, some results will keep my motivation goin'!

El borracho, how did you lose the weight? How long were you at the gym, what type of exercises and how often a week? What did your diet consist of? Did you hit lots of plateaus where your weight would stay the same, how'd you stay motivated? Any other forms of advice would be nifty too.I kinda wanna lose 50 by June 30th.
2/13/2007 4:36:48 PM
Im glad to see im not the only one in the 20+ lost since New Years.Im down 26lbs since New Years. Finally broke the 190 point, now to get to 180, and possibly 175
2/13/2007 6:26:38 PM
my metabolism has slowed waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the past 2 years(getting old). I run a good amount and still gain weight.....i am trying to get down to 160, i think i am at 165ish
2/13/2007 6:30:53 PM
how tall are you?
2/13/2007 6:31:49 PM
To give myself some credit I didn't start until the 18th of January.
2/13/2007 7:54:05 PM
is it bad that i am 5 10 and weigh 135 and want to drop 10 more lbs? (and am male)
2/14/2007 7:43:03 AM
27lbs.
2/14/2007 10:50:51 AM
So today for the first time my old pants are fitting better, My shirts don't look as gross on me and I tried on a size smaller pant. This going everyday thing is making a difference!
2/14/2007 4:24:44 PM
WTF is healthy and tastes good with tuna, for flavoring. I can't eat that shit all by it's lonesome. Gross, but it is really effing good for you.I also found this granola from Bear Naked, has protien and good carbs and good fats, like nuts, tasty too. I recommend it.
2/16/2007 10:30:34 PM
reslish maybe?I don't know how healthy that is for you
2/16/2007 10:31:20 PM
lemon juice!
2/16/2007 10:32:51 PM
My coworker recommended dill relish which is weird. She said it has no carbs but I'm on the calorie diet, carbs are ok on that one. She said she didn't know about the calorie content. I think a relish and tuna taste would be bizarre. She also recommended tomatoes and celery. I'm looking for more ideas though.
2/16/2007 10:33:18 PM
If you eat tuna salad, it has relish in it. I like it, I don't like tuna salad without relish.
2/17/2007 12:39:48 AM
I'll have to try it.Also, please to recommend other high in protein and goodness foods that are easy for lunches and shit. You know how they have tuna packaged, is it healthy to eat chicken packaged that way? Or in the little baggie, I've never looked at the nutritional value but that's so much easier than cutting, cooking and storing it. What about cottage cheese? I was looking at the values and they don't seem so bad, more sat. fats than tuna but high in protein. Aye or nay?OMG WHERE IS A SITE I CAN GO TO TO GET HEALTHY FOODS WITHOUT PAYING FOR THEIR ADVICE. omgz
2/17/2007 7:29:47 PM
I personally don't like the ones in the pouches-tuna or chicken-they have a funny flavor. I like the canned.I'd say cottage cheese as a snack. You can go to the atkins diet website and see the list of high protein foods and modify it for yourself. I know you're not being THAT hardcore (Atkins nut, I mean) about the protein stuff, so that should point you in the right way.[Edited on February 17, 2007 at 7:32 PM. Reason : ]
