Quote : | " Charlotte is telling teams that they'll make a decision sometime today on what to do with the No. 8 pick. As we discussed on Monday, they have been shopping this pick hard for the past several weeks and collected five to six legitimate offers for the pick.
Andy Katz reported last night that the Suns were one of the teams in the mix to get No. 8. That explains why they had Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer and Jeff Green in on Tuesday. And why they'll get Brandan Wright and Al Thornton in today.
However, sources say they are not the front runners to get the pick. Several other teams are offering better deals for No. 8, including the Sixers (offering No. 12 and No. 21), Warriors (offering Monta Ellis and No. 18), Grizzlies (???) and one mystery team that the source refused to disclose." |

From the mock draft (which has us taking Brandon Wright)
"the Bobcats are the only NBA franchise that operates like a WNBA franchise, right down to the sweeping lack of interest from their fans. I think they're going to draft Joe Wolf with their second-round pick, then trade their 2008 No. 1 to the Bucks for David Noel."

Holy shit Monta Ellis and the #18????? I'd do Monta Ellis for the 8th pick straight up in a hearbeat. I absolutely love this trade, make it happen for the love of god MJ. I'd even forgive you for that awful Morrison pick last year.
After looking through John Hollinger's rating system I've done a complete 180 on Corey Brewer. I didn't realize just how poor his ball handling/rebounding stats really were. His numbers don't translate well to the NBA at all so I'm definitely not that sold on him anymore. I think we all just overvalued him based on his big Final Four performance...
I don't want anything to do with Boris Diaw he's just too iffy and costs too much...I don't think he has the competitive spirit that MJ wants out of his players.
Monta Ellis and the 18???? Are you kidding me? We'd have an even better shot at getting Williams from BC at 17 and we could still grab another prospect with the #22 pick....
I've been calling my lady friend all day who works for the bobcats and she wont disclose much of anythign but she said that it was mayhem last night with all the different decisions to be made

The bobcats have made a decision what to do with the pick. She wont give me the details though dammit.
SCRATCH THAT I THINK WE GOT MONTA ELLIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her i was hoping thats what we'd do and she was like "Do you ever work your own job or are you working mine too?!?"
In other words, i was right! FUCK YES WE'RE GETTING MONTA ELLIS

I really would love to get Ellis....imagine what he can do given all the playing time he wants.
Plus if GForce leaves, Ellis can be a big-time scorer if need be.
Williams from BC or Acie Law with the 18/22 picks would be badass. 6/27/2007 6:27:40 PM |

DAMN I HOPE THIS ELLIS SHIT IS FOR REAL.
If nothing else, it all but assures we don't end up with B Wright or Noah. I've been trying to warm up to those two for weeks now, because I've assumed the Bobcats would get one of them. But i just can't dammit.
At 18, we can go Williams, J Smith, Splitter, D Cook, Byars (from Vandy), and most importantly NOT NOAH OR WRIGHT

Ellis definitely struggled through a few games of the playoffs but he did have five games in double figures as well.
Look at his season stats though: 16.5 points per game on 47.5% FG position from a 21 year old??? Are you serious?
It's even crazier when you realize he shot 27% from threes. That means he must be automatic from midrange and get a lot of layups.
I expect his three point percentage will improve too now that he's not playing in the Warriors run and gun system.
4.1 assists so he's a very good passer/penetrator.... 1.7 steals so he's obviously active on defense...
This guy is 2-3 years away from being Leandro Barbosa. Pair him with Felton, Wallace, and Okafor and we can run the court with anyone.
This would give us a lot of young, intriguing prospects and we still won't have any bad contracts on our hands so we can add a veteran in a year or two when necessary. 6/27/2007 10:33:59 PM |
Saddamizer Suspended 5294 Posts user info edit post |
The thing about Ellis is that its like we're getting a rookie in terms of age; he doesn't turn 22 till October. So we're getting someone roughly the same age as a lot of the players in this draft who happens to have two years of NBA experience and whose scoring output more than doubled from his first year to his second. Plus he was 8th in the league in steals. Everyone in the draft minus the top 2 is a potential NBA star; we already know Elils can play in the league.
Make it happen, Michael. 6/27/2007 10:36:23 PM |

here are my thoughts:
Golden State wants to trade up to get Yi
so im guessing if Yi goes before the 8th pick then there wont be a Ellis swap
then it looks like Memphis and Boston like Brewer so the first round to us could be something like
1. Oden 2. Durant 3. Horford 4. Brewer 5. Yi 6. Conley 7. Noah 8.
Now we are looking right in the WRight brothers, jeff green area of the picks
or the first round could go like this
1. Oden 2. Durant 3. Horford 4. Conley 5. Brewer 6. Green 7. Noah 8.
Ok, so Yi is still on the board
at this point weve got Chicago behind us trying to keep Phx and GS from jumping up to grab Yi who we dont want or need. So we can get Ellis possibly from GS, or a deal from the other teams
my thoughts are that Yi will be gone and we will draft BWright when we should probably get Green, I dont want either one, id rather have Brewer or Noah. 6/28/2007 8:21:20 AM |

Young?s stock has risen more than any other player from May to draft week. Young combines Brewer?s athleticism with an outside shooting touch that no other lottery candidate has. Scouts have told me that he improved his mental game tremendously during his time at USC. He is everything a GM would want from a shooting guard prospect." |

Chad Ford just dropped this little nugget
Quote : | "Todd, Charlotte: Any Bobcats rumblings?
SportsNation Chad Ford: (12:43 PM ET ) I think they'll trade the pick. Heard that Golden State would be willing to move Monta Ellis to here if Yi was still on the board. That would be a good deal for Charlotte. Philly would like to get in. So would the Lakers. Sounds like they'll sell to the highest bidder. If they keep the pick: Brandan Wright. " |

Chad Fords final mack draft
Quote : | "8. Charlotte Bobcats
The skinny: Lots of teams are trying to pry this pick away from Charlotte. That means it's difficult to peg who's going here. The Suns, Sixers, Warriors and Sonics and a host of other teams are trying to get this pick. Perhaps the most intriguing offer is from the Warriors, who would give up Monta Ellis and No. 18.
If Charlotte keeps the pick for some reason, Wright would seem to be the guy. He has too much raw potential at an area of great need. Plus, we know the Bobcats and Michael Jordan love those Tar Heels. " |

Amare Stoudamire to the Bobcats?
Lets hope so
Quote : | "The Minnesota Timberwolves' attempts to trade Kevin Garnett continued Thursday afternoon.
The Wolves have contacted the Charlotte Bobcats to try to help facilitate a deal for Garnett, one day after a potential three-way deal with the Phoenix Suns and the Atlanta Hawks hit a roadblock.
According to sources, the Wolves are asking the Bobcats to give up the No. 8 pick along with an undisclosed player. In the proposed deal, Garnett would go to Phoenix, and the Suns would send Amare Stoudemire to Charlotte. The Bobcats would also be required to take Suns guard Marcus Banks.
The Bobcats have been offering the No. 8 pick to various teams for weeks and have several offers. If they can't get something worked out with Minnesota and Phoenix before the draft, the Bobcats will likely move the pick in another deal, a source said.
