Well the win by State yesterday trumps this loss to the eagles 11/11/2007 4:15:25 PM |

when you lose three games to "good" teams with comparable talent and comparable W-L records (eagles, giants, packers), it is time to stop assuming that you are good and are "blowing" games.
that shit yesterday shouldn't have been close. I was there and everyone in the stadium had seen this games 20 times in the last 4 years.
we dominated this game for three and a half quarters. Wasted outstanding efforts from portis, thrash (!) the o-line, and campbell (who threw the ball great), because the team "doesn't know how to win."
It sounds cliche but it is the truth. I think anyone who has watched the Gibbs II era can agree that the biggest flaw with our team since we've actually had talent (last three years) has been game management and leadership. Play-calling, challenges, timeouts, game decisions (running 3x up 22-20 on 1st-and-7 to goal), and penalties cost us this game. And that comes back to the guys in charge.
Being optimistic, this year reminds me a lot of 2005 in that we've absolutely pissed away games where we've been the better team (that year it was Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders and Chargers losses... the whole AFC west) and in 2005 rebounded to win big games against good teams and some huge home wins. With Dallas twice and the Giants away, we've really gotta steal one of those and win the rest.
@ Tampa, @ Vikings, Bears, and Bills at home... these should be wins. Should be. Winning those, stealing a divisional game, and waiting for a Lions collapse should put us at 10-6 and the last guy in the playoffs. But unless something changes, we'll be 8-8 and making excuses in one of the weakest NFCs in a while.

Quote : | "Another week, another questionable Joe Gibbs coaching decision or two. Why is it that Washington's veteran-laden coaching staff -- led by a Hall of Famer with three Super Bowl rings -- seems to bungle a couple critical situations every game?
Down 19-10 with 2:10 remaining in the third quarter, Gibbs bypassed a chip shot field goal to go for it on fourth-and-1 from the Bucs' 4. Clinton Portis got stuffed for no gain on the play, and Washington could have used those three points when Jason Campbell was intercepted in the end zone by Brian Kelly with 17 seconds to go in the 19-13 Redskins loss.
If the Skins had taken the field goal earlier, they would have been in position to tie the game at 19-19 and force overtime later. The play that Campbell was picked off on was a second-and-10 from the Bucs' 16 -- putting Washington easily within Shaun Suisham's range." |

My second favorite redskin to chris cooley over the past 10 years. Was a hell of a safety. Just the sheer abruptness of this is shocking and demoralizing. I can only imagine how that locker room will be sunday. I know that i could care less who wins sunday now 11/27/2007 2:17:08 PM |

word on extremeskins is that CP will wear the #21 this weekend (and beyond?)
from the snyder/gibbs PC, all stadiums will have a moment of silence this weekend and all players will have the #21 on the helmets, and the skins will also have it on the jersey 11/27/2007 4:20:07 PM |

this is affecting me more than I thought it would...
it must be the way people felt about Len Bias. Who cares why and in what circumstance? This guy is only one year older than me.
He really was turning into an incredible athlete, and was definitely my favorite current Redskin. He was also having his best season yet. When he went down in the Eagles game 3 weeks ago, the defense fell apart, and stayed in shambles through the Dallas game. We didn't just lose any player, we lost Darrell Green or Art Monk. He was going to be on the Skins for ten more years, a true phenom.
Watching Portis run around with #21 on is going to be hard on Sunday. Just when I thought the season was lost, we suddenly have the 5 most important games any 5-6 Redskins team has ever had...

Portis said today that he's not wearing #21. He said "Sean is the best player i've seen. I couldnt live up to those expectations, so it wouldn't be fair to him for me to wear his #"
unless he's playing some game, which he's not, he isnt gonna wear 21 11/29/2007 11:01:07 PM |
