the rams released isaac bruce yesterday. the panthers should pick him up so the fans can yell "oooooo" on moose catches, bruce catches, and delhomme incompletions.
\/ yeah, should be a pretty decent WR to get on the cheap for a couple years' worth of play before he retires. sad the rams couldn't hold on to him for a little longer so he could retire there

^^true. carter was the fastest guy on our team. so yeah he probably was one of the fastest WRs in the NFL. still, that's straight line speed. it seems as though he lacks speed in and out of his breaks

With turner gone, it'd be best to pick up a RB or two in the draft imo (RB first round, OT second or vice versa)...Jonathan Stewart, RB from Oregon would be a solid first pick.
I heard a rumor from carolinagowl that the panthers might try to package some picks to move up in the draft...didn't give much info other than that tho, and it's completely against Fox/hurney's usual approach, so....3/3/2008 10:16:21 AM |

He started but Barber got all the important carries...kinda like how Primoz was the starter when he was still on the Bobcats this year
I think mainly they just wanted to keep Barber fresh for the 4th quarter...He's probably one of the most fun runners to watch in the whole league because he just mauls people3/3/2008 10:38:13 AM |

If the panthers are moving up, it's likely to target a DE. We've got some serious issues on the right side (mcclover? johnson?). Depending on just how high we go, we could be looking at Gholston or Merling (clemson dude).
If i'm us, I use our extra 3rd to move up to 6-7, then go
1. DE Gholston 2. FS Dejuan 3. RB Kevin Smith

we're set at CB, especially with the Coclough (sp?) signing
LB's we're good enough. Beason and Davis are studs, while Diggs is good enough
At safety, we still suck mightily. Chris Harris was pretty good last year, but outside of his ability to destroy people, he's pretty average. Have to do something in the draft, and damn I'm hoping that something is DeJuan 3/3/2008 8:24:39 PM |

Also says they want to have 5 new starters on the OL.

Harris either led or was close to the league lead in forced fumbles last year, and he's very good in run support. I think (and the general consensus has been) that he was a steal from Chicago, and fits our system quite well.3/4/2008 9:40:39 AM |

PANTHERS BAG BRAYTON
With veteran Mike Rucker likely to sign with another team (after he returns from a current trip to Afghanistan), the Panthers are making plans for life without him by signing free-agent Tyler Brayton.
Per Adam Caplan of Scout.com, Brayton signed a two-year deal with the Panthers. He'll compete with Charles Johnson for playing time on the right edge of the defensive line.
Caplan reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, and Cincinnati Bengals also showed interest in Brayton, who was a first-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2003.

Quote : | "On November 6, 2006 in a game against the Seattle Seahawks, Brayton kneed the groin of Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, after Stevens kneed him and was ejected from the game. Brayton was later fined $25,000 by the NFL [1]. Stevens was fined $15,000. This incident led to Brayton's nickname of "Nut Cracker".[citation needed]
During the course of the Raiders' 9 game losing streak to end the 2006 season, Brayton and several other Raiders, including Warren Sapp, criticized the lackadaisical effort of WR Randy Moss.[citation needed] In a post game incident, Brayton confronted Moss, citing several instances where Moss could have kept the team in the game. Moss responded with "I play when I want to" and "Randy Moss don't go over the middle". Brayton proceeded to tackle Moss, knocking both of them over the trainer's table, and re-injuring Moss' lower back. The two were separated before they could come to blows." |
