its easy really, and it makes me sick, but crimes are plead down, slack judges give him probation instead of serious time, when he does get time its minimal at best. its a failure of the legal system to once again keep a dangerous person locked away permanently.

I'm all for unbiased juries and impartial judges and innocent before proven guilty, but people seem to take that as to mean guilty parties should be given every excuse to get off if at all possible. If the evidence comes out and it is air-tight against him/them, then "fair" means they are found guilty.

yeah, i know what he means.
But evidence should trump bias. Who care's if I or you have read about it in the paper. If the evidence shows he is guilty, then he is guilty. Likewise, if the State has a lack of evidence to tie this guy to the murder, then this should come out in the evidence.

I can see where this would be a problem in the sentencing, though, where people can let their emotions come out about how he should be punished.

I just hate the notion that in the US judicial system, the "best jurors" are apparently the least-informed ones. You watch or read the news? your out! you have well-founded opinions an issue somewhat related to the case? bye!
