Steve Smith is a changed man, though. Said so himself...
Quote : | "That’s one of the reasons I prefer not to talk to the media. Not because I hate you guys or don’t like you but people cast perceptions. (People say) I’m trying to put a new spin on who I am. I’m 28 years old and when I was 22 I was a different guy, so I’m not trying to spin anything. You spend two hours with somebody and now you know them?" |
Four days later, he cheapshots Ken Lucas.
So you'll have to excuse me if I have as much trouble believing Smith as I do Favre.8/4/2008 6:39:32 PM |

Nick Barnett, the Packers linebacker who beat the shit out of somebody at a night club a month ago
Smith is a fiery beast when he's playing football...unfortunately that fire embarrassed the team the other day by punching his teammate...but off the field he's a loving father who does camps for kids, charities, etc...Barnett on the other hand is just a thug] 8/4/2008 6:44:08 PM |

I think if Lucas hit him back and they got into a scuffle
It would have just evolved into your run of the mill practice fight
No suspensions...maybe small fines for both
But Lucas had to be a lil bitch and cry to Foxy

Slave Famous Become Wrath 34079 Posts user info edit post |
No Lucas was kneeling and Smith was standing up
So apparently Lucas was crouched for an uppercut but Smith tricked him and hit X for a low punch to the face
If Lucas was smart, he would've spun away from Smith's punch and taken him down with a leg sweep of his own 8/4/2008 6:49:12 PM |
dweedle All American 77386 Posts user info edit post |
even if you are kneeling down, an uppercut can still be landed
smith would have had a quick tap down for a short kneel to start the uppercut 8/4/2008 6:57:35 PM |

Two things:
First, how are you going to call out an incident from a month ago, when we're talking about something that happened 3 days ago, which was 4 days after him talking about how he's a changed man? That's not even a week.
Also, by "a month ago" do you mean "a year ago"?
Quote : | "Early in the morning on Sunday, June 17th, 2007, Nick Barnett was arrested for battery after an altercation at the Wet Nightclub in Appleton, Wisconsin. ... The bar's owner later said that the whole incident had been blown out of proportion and that Barnett had been provoked by female fans who were anxiously seeking autographs." |
Or maybe two years ago where there was an alleged altercation at a nightclub where Barnett was neither arrested nor ticketed.
Meanwhile I think we can all draw a line straight from Steve Smith's tiny little fist to Ken Lucas' broke little face.8/4/2008 7:10:43 PM |

i didnt even know he had a history of getting into shit off field...the panthers dont stand for that kind of stuff
and Smith's tiny little fists are pretty good at catching footballs...probably why yall gave the order to break his leg a few years back
Quote : | "The bar's owner later said that the whole incident had been blown out of proportion and that Barnett had been provoked by female fans who were anxiously seeking autographs." |
i wonder if the Packers even had to pay him off to say that, or if its just that ingrained in everyone in Wisconsin's head that you don't tell on Packers players...even if what he said was true, Smith was provoked by a man...apparently Barnett gets provoked into fights by women]8/4/2008 7:13:21 PM |

^^ It makes perfect sense.
Other than the QB, the Jet's have alot of pieces to win 8-10 games, especially given that they play the Dolphins and Buffalo twice each, as well as the Cardinals, Raiders, and Cincy...
This is a pretty easy schedule 8/7/2008 12:22:06 AM |

this makes lots of sense.
The Jets were a playoff team in 2006 with a horrible QB. Miami and Buffalo suck. Green Bay won't see the Jets unless both make the Super Bowl. How does this not make sense?

HAHAHHAHA...Not Quite Yet.
Quote : | "It never ends. With the report that the Packers and Jets have agreed on a trade sending Brett Favre to New York, Chris Mortensen is now reporting that many obstacles need to be cleared to turn this into a reality, the most daunting of which would be Brett Favre, as reported on ESPN.
Mort reports Favre is dying to get back in the league, but he had expressed strong concerns about going to New York. He wasn't excited about their team or their chances to compete, and he had pushed the Packers to trade him to Tampa Bay. Mort now believes the Packers simply ignored Favre and did what was best for them, and in fact may have intentionally designed this deal to influence Favre to once again consider retirement. He reports the Jets are likely to be on the phone right now, attempting to convince Favre to join the Jets, but in the end, the veteran passer still has the power in that he can still retire and walk away from it all. If his anger with the Packers is as strong as most reporters and friends believe it to be, that is not out of the realm of possibility. There will be more drama tomorrow, assuming this is not easily settled (and it sounds as if that is a long shot). We'll keep you posted along the way." |

this actually isnt bad
you have to remember the jets spent well over 100 million this offseason, they have a new O line and terrible QB situation before this trade in 2 guys who couldnt throw more than about 30 yards.
not to mention Bubba Franks, one of Favres greatest friends is the TE in NY now... get him J Co and they kid they drafted, the Jets have a playoff contention team.
If I was the Vikings or the Jaguars id be all over Pennington though thats for sure. 8/7/2008 1:01:59 AM |

I'm sure the poison pill is a little more vague than being reported.
Also, considering the Jets have brought in a ton of talent and make the playoffs every other year, it could very easily become a second round pick. 8/7/2008 8:39:59 AM |
