Sabretooth is evil and Deadpool kills for money, why couldn't the final battle be Wolverine and Gambit vs. Sabretooth and the REAL Deadpool? 5/5/2009 7:55:41 PM |

It still doesn't make sense to me why Sabretooth in X1 wouldn't have recognized Wolverine if both movies are supposed to be part of the same cannon 5/7/2009 2:41:24 AM |

are they really the same canon though?
And even if they are, do we know for sure that Sabertooth didn't recognize him? I don't recall and haven't seen it in some time. But while I know they didn't specifically tell the viewer that Sabertooth knew wolverine, I don't recall them stating otherwise either. 5/7/2009 9:24:32 AM |

Its been a while since I've watched the first one too but I remember the first time I saw it I was upset that they didn't have more of an overall connection between Wolverine and Sabretooth since they are supposed to be arch nemeses, but instead it was just Sabretooth against everyone. 5/7/2009 11:50:26 AM |

Opening montage was the best part of the movie.
Too many cliches (screaming when someone dies, walking away toward sunset, walking away from explosion, etc). They FUCKED UP Deadpool; I agree with the comments about a big opportunity missed, what an awesome character they could've made.
I felt like the writers knew where the overall plot had to go, but in so many places just couldn't find out how to get there. Like when Wolverine comes in on Weapon X being made, realizes Silver Fox is alive, etc, then just WALKS OUT. Really dumb. They needed to rework a lot of how things meshed together--really crappy flow overall. And some of the dialogue and acting was just beyond horrible.
I enjoyed the Canadian scenery (because it was gorgeous), but thought they spent too much time there. I like the animation for Gambit's power, but what the hell was up with his accent and his character overall? Another huge potential smashed. I also was SUPER pissed at the green screen use. The closeups during the motorcycle chase looked 1990s they were so bad. Wolverine checking out his new claws in the bathroom--HORRID animation. Same with the car scenes in Canada. Wretched.
Overall, I'm glad I went and I would've gone had I read all of these comments anyway. But I'm just super annoyed that they had an opportunity to do something really awesome with some of these characters and just fucked it up. A couple more months in post-production, and a couple more tries and research for script writer and character creation would've sufficed. Also, removal of movie cliches.
oh: I thought there was a moment in X1 where Sabretooth and Wolverine had some connection--the way they looked at each other or something. Maybe it was while in the statue of liberty?

That's one thing that really irritates me about this kind of thing. You'd think they'd be like "Okay so we are making a comic book movie that has decades of history behind it and many fans already know the history. Maybe we should hire a "reality check" guy who knows the history and knows what the fans want. If we decide to make a huge change on a character, let's run it by him and see what he thinks." I don't think there is a single Deadpool fan who liked what they did with him.5/9/2009 1:47:51 PM |

no kidding.
so they adapted the comics storyline in order to create a story arc that could comfortably squeeze into a 2-hour movie.
even if they hadn't changed the storyline at all, the film would have still had all the corny action movie cliches some people are canning this movie over.
i'm a fan of the comics as much as anyone, but i'd much rather have a condensed narrative one needn't be a fanboy to understand than for the movie to be overburdened with an extra 15 minutes here, extra 15 minutes there explaining obscure, tangential comics-faithful character backstories that the majority of the viewing public could care less about.5/10/2009 2:15:21 AM |

GAMBIT IS A CLONE
The least they could have done was get Deadpool's powers right. Now they are going to fuck up his abilities in his own movie. 5/10/2009 2:31:34 AM |

Yeah, but movies like this have one goal: Quick buck. And they don't need any of that stuff to reach that goal.5/11/2009 8:48:12 AM |

fuck this movie
I went in with low expectations (as in, they can't possibly do any worse than X-Men 3, right?) and still came out disappointed
even if you look past fucking with the characters powers/history, the movie was still shitty - the action scenes just came off as cheesy and there was like no suspense the entire damn movie. I was so bored that instead of being pissed when I saw how bad they fucked up Deadpool at the end, I was just glad for something to keep me interested
I spent like a lot of the 2nd half of the movie Wiki'ing character bios on my phone 5/17/2009 7:07:13 PM |

Guess I never thought of it until ^, but if that Deadpool... thing... has super regen ability how does its mouth scar shut? You'd think it would just heal back to a normal mouth.
I haven't seen this movie yet. Maybe that's explained. If so you'd think they would use whatever process they used to prevent its mouth from healing to take it out. Or maybe they fused its mouth shut then applied the heal factor mutation, which then heals you to however you were when you gained the ability?
I have the feeling I've already put more thought into this than the writers, so I give up. 6/1/2009 9:34:21 AM |
