let me make a different analogy then, since you fucking idiots don't seem to understand my other one. say i go running down the stairs. that's fine, i run down the stairs all the time. if i trip and fall down the stairs and hurt myself, i wouldn't say to someone "it wasn't my fault, i was running down the stairs and fell". that's clearly my fault. even if i'm just walking down the street and trip on my own shoes, it's still my fault. i didn't mean to do it, and it's an accident, but i wouldn't claim that it's not my fault.

Putting yourself in a place where accidents can happen, and increasing the risk of something dangerous occurring, are what we're really talking about here. When you're talking about "fault," then clearly the dad was at fault for doing those things. In law this issue comes up all the time, but there are two kinds of causation. I know this isn't law, but it kind of fits. What you're talking about is "but for" cause, as in, but for the dad's actions, this never would have happened.

The problem with that is that there are unlimited things that lead to a tragedy, and each of them had to happen. In that sense, Josh Hamilton was at fault for not throwing it further or more precisely, the Rangers were at fault for not having higher railings, padding, or netting below the railing, and baseball tradition of tossing balls into the stands is to blame as well.

You can go on forever. At the end of the day, it was an accident. Most people who have the chance to look at this situation in advance would not think they were taking a risk with their lives by doing what was done. If, looking at a situation in advance, you could reasonably foresee this as a result, then you can blame the dad, but I don't think that's the case here.

this i disagree with. i think any person should be able to realize that leaning that far over the railing is really dangerous, and have some restraint. that shit happens all the time where a ball or whathaveyou isn't thrown far enough, and normally the people just don't catch it. bottom line is that this guy made a horrible decision, and one that i don't think many people would make.

and i'm not fucking trolling, i'm very serious about this. when someone dies by falling on their head, someone involved fucked up. in this case, it was the dad, and it was an amazingly stupid thing to do.
