The commercial breaks are getting ridiculous. I guess since they know most will be watching live instead of DVRing, they're cramming tons of them in. It's bullshi though, there's been equal parts LOST and commercials. Really effing annoying.

i was reading a text when this happened, but when sun asked lapidus what he knew about ilana and co., did he say "other than the fact that they were on the plane," or "other than the fact that they weren't on the plane,"? i wasn't paying attention. i know ilana was on it, but i don't think they ever showed bram on there. it's probably a stupid question with an obvious answer.

So what is everyone's thoughts on the two timelines? I hope it's not just a simple diverging reality scenario. I guess at this point, I'm just wondering how the ones that blew up the bomb ended up getting to 2007 or whatever, and how/if they are going to tie the two realities together.

and john ended up going on the walk about after all...

i don't see how those would have been impacted by blowing up the island though? since those happened before they ever got on the island?

also...what was up with desmond appearing on the plane? he was never on the plane to start with. i did notice he disappeared after jack saved charlie.

i waited 30 minutes before starting, still hit the last couple of commercial breaks. anyhow....

it's definitely alternate timeline. And Desmond can travel between them, just like the rats in faraday's experiments.

they blew up the shit, so no hatch, so no Desmond ever being stuck in the hatch, so he went through his life and ended up on the plane

everyone on the island is alive. they're the lost people from timeline A. They blew the bomb up on timeline B. The lost people on timeline B (who were all still growing up in their respective countries at the time) are the ones who we saw on the plane that did not crash.

at first i thought that triggering the bomb must've changed something since shannon didn't go back with boone and locke went on the walkabout. then i figured locke probably lied because nothing could've changed the liability policy for the company that took people on walkabouts. and i'm also assuming maggie grace probably had other things going on and couldn't be in this season, and this was the writers' way of dealing with it.

but even though he still didn't go on the walkabout, locke isn't the angry, frustrated person he appeared to be in season 1's flashbacks. he was very pleasant on the plane as well as when he spoke to jack about his condition being irreversible. it's the exact opposite of what the MiB said to ben about the kind of person locke was when he came to the island.

somehow the timelines are going to merge, and i think we will see locke's redemption through the locke in timeline B as duro982 put it.

I understand the alternate timeline stuff. That's pretty basic. I just don't understand how blowing up a bomb randomly sends all the 1970s Lost people to 2007. If they don't have a reasonable explanation for that, I'll be pretty pissed. And no, I won't accept some bullshit excuse like "the bomb made the record stop skipping" as a reasonable explanation.

I agree that converging the timelines seems like the obvious thing to do from a "hey, wouldn't it be neat..." perspective, but I just don't think it's possible for about a thousand different reasons. This show is supposed to at least be moderately based on actual science.

i think the electro-magnetic force made them jump. And they didn't just jump in time, they jumped back to their original timeline.

The way I think they'll merge them is the same way Desmond's mind was merged when he was jumping on the freighter. Daniel/Desmond will help them, their consciousnesses (is that really a word?) will jump back and forth between the two, they'll find their constants in each other pretty much instantly and bam.... the losties we know and love are on a time-line where they know everything that happened yet it didn't happen.
