I think taking a QB that early is a mistake, period. Brady was so good the year he blew up because his ADP was low. Once you have to start giving up top flight RBs or WRs for him, thats not worth it.

The only reason I took Brady in the first round this year was due to our commish changing QB scoring. QB's getting 1 pt per 10 yards is kinda ridiculous. And both Brees and Manning were drafted before me (I had the 11th pick). Not sure why Manning was taken.

Fitz and Boldin, sure.

Breaston will be a little more of a reach this year though. Remember, he wasn't anything significant until Boldin was out for an extended period of time. Not that he won't see the field, but he's not putting up Stokely-esque numbers as a #3 WR this year, especially given the addition of Beanie Wells and the coaching staff's emphasis on running more to keep Warner healthy for the long haul.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

Here's my situation:

I have three quarterbacks -- Warner, Ryan and Eli

obviously I don't need all three (although Warner and Ryan both have the same bye week) so I'm thinking about dropping Eli

Should I grab another WR (I have Berrian, Ginn, Moss, Avery and Nicks)? Harvin, Burleson, Jenkins and Chambers are all still available.

or should I grab another RB (I have Slaton, Gore and Rice)? Stewart, Moreno, J. Jones, J. Lewis and Benson are available

^^ If that is Santana Moss and not Randy, your WR's really blow.

On the other hand, there isn't much there in return at that spot.

I would think long and hard about picking up Benson at RB. Get over what you and likely many others think about him and the Bengals. Both will be improved this year and he is a bonafide starter.

^ I would be starting Royal as well. Also, if that 2nd TE of yours is Billy Miller of the Saints, go ahead and drop him because I believe he's out for the season.

Maurice Jones-Drew?

Question for you guys, I've got MJD as my obvious #1 RB. He seems to be a little banged up but I don't think it is too serious.

Would you pick up his back-up as a handcuff (Greg Jones?) or just go with my #3 RB (Ricky Williams, Chestor Taylor, Darren Sproles)? Ray Rice is my #2.

If I was to pick up Jones, who should I drop?
Williams
Taylor
Sproles (no)
Steve Smith (Giants)
Sidney Rice

I'm thinking I don't need to do anything, but should I play it safe and pick up Greg Jones?

thanks

What's the value of Patrick Crayton this year?

He looked awful in preseason but is still the #2 WR in Dallas. He's a Free Agent, but I don't wanna lose my #4 waiver order for the first week, which always seems kinda big.

My WR corp (standard scoring league, 10 man, start 3 WRs):

Randy Moss
Marques Colston
Vincent Jackson
Dominik Hixon
Kevin Curtis

I would drop Curtis for Crayton....I think it's a good idea, right?

You shouldnt lose your waiver number simply for picking up a free agent.

Settings are often different, but waiver claims and free agency are two completely different things.

Think of it like this, and let me know if this is how your league is:

Free Agency - A guy, like Patrick Crayton, goes undrafted and is sitting in the available player list (and it's past the 2 day grace period, post draft). If you want to pick him up, it won't have any impact on your waiver number. Simply put, you arent using a waiver to claim this player

Waiver Claim - Another opponent in your league drops Patrick Crayton from his team, and you want to get him before anyone else can. If you add him to your roster before he is a "free agent/available player", you have to place a claim. Priority of the claim is based on the lower waiver number. if you are successful, your waiver number would go to the highest available number, and this would continue on throughout the season.

As for the pickup, it's a pretty even split, but I do see more upside with Crayton. Pick him up and stash him in case he does emerge as a true #2 on the Cowboys. Don't do out of your way though, and certainly do use a high waiver number on him if you are indeed claiming him off waivers.

Here's my team:

QB Tom Brady
WR Andre Johnson
WR Braylon Edwards
RB Adrian Peterson
RB Ronnie Brown
TE Kellen Winslow
RB Reggie Bush
RB Pierre Thomas
WR Lee Evans
RB Derrick Ward
QB Jay Cutler
WR Jeremy Maclin
QB Trent Edwards
K Sebastian Janikowski
DEF Tennessee
DEF Miami

We play 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 WR/RB/TE, 1 K, 1 DEF.

I think I'm pretty good to go with the exception of kicker - I guess I could pick up another one.

^ Looks like a very competitive 6 man league.

In all seriousness, if that league is any more than 6-8 people, you drafted with morons.

AP, Andre and Brady?

That's just sick. You certainly appear to be in a good spot in your league.

QB - Matt Ryan
WR - Calvin Johnson
WR - T.J. Houshmandzadeh
WR - Antonio Bryant
RB - Matt Forte
RB - Ryan Grant
TE - Chris Cooley

BN Ray Rice (RB)
BN Kyle Orton (QB)
BN Visanthe Shiancoe (TE)
BN Nate Burleson (WR)

K - Kris Brown

BN (K) - Matt Bryant

DEF
San Diego
BN
Cleveland

D - Julius Peppers
D - Oshiomogho Atogwe
DB - Ellis Hobbs
DB - Eric Weddle
LB - James Harrison
LB - DeMarcus Ware
BN Paul Posluszny

So, I feel pretty good about my team overall. Individual defensive players count in our league and I feel really good about that lineup. One question:

Should Shiancoe start over Cooley? Cooley had 1 TD all of last year, Shiancoe had 7, and now Shiancoe has Farve throwing to him. Everyone knows how much Farve loves to throw to TE's.

^^I'd give it a week or two and see how the Nicks situation plays out (or the Crabtree situation for that matter). I really dont see Crabtree playing until the 2nd half of the season, if at all.

^please tell me you arent going to be starting any of them. Eitherway, Cadillac is at the top of the depth chart, so I would go with him, then Ward, then Graham

Ward and Williams.

remember they have a 2-2-1 format, with Williams and Ward getting 2 series each, the Graham gets one series and the goaline carries.

Personally, I would stay away from all three in terms of starting them until I could see how it plays out.

None of the rookie WRs this year are going to produce big-time numbers. I wouldn't own Heywood-Bey, Nicks, or Crabtree.

^up I think Cooley bounces back with 5-7 TDs this year. He just had an off year...every year before last he produced in the red zone.

Thanks Panthro for the advice. Crayton isnt a FA, but a waiver. I'll wait til waiver time and pick him up.

Quick question as in who to start this weekend:

I have Fred Jackson at NE
or Marion Barber at Tampa.

My other back is Adrian Peterson, so I won't be benching him.

Standard scoring league, 10 yards per point 6 points per touchdown.

Jackson did go off last year in week 17 against the Pats rushing for 136 yards in gale force winds, so I'm leaning towards starting him, but am also worried that Buffalo may have to abandon the run game if they are getting blown out.

This will be the case, given that Brady is back and the fallout from firing their Offensive Coordinator last week.

unless it's T.O or maybe Evans against N.E. (b/c their secondary sucks)., I would hold off on Jackson and any other Bills until we see how this plays out.

TDs are the flukiest stat from one year to the next

Keep em both and play the matchups

Okay trying to decide what to do with Michael Crabtree. Here is my lineup -

WR - Colston
WR - Housh
RB - Gore
RB - Willie Parker
W/T - Ochocinco
W/R - Ted Ginn Jr.
BN - Knowshon Moreno, Donald Brown, Jerious Norwood, Chris Henry (WR), James Davis, Crabtree

I would rather try and pick up a potential RB rather then hold on to Crabtree and hope he signs/plays - here is who is available... who do you recommend.

Shonn Green - NYJ
Glenn Coffee - SF (Would be good to handcuff Gore, but I'm not the biggest fan of handcuffs)
Ladell Betts - Wash
Mewelde Moore - Pitt
Mike Bell - NO (I could play him week 1 as Pierre is apparently not going to get much time, might be a better play then Ted Ginn Jr)
BenJarvus Green-Ellis - NE

And so on... if there is anyone not on that list who you recommend let me know.

Just drafted in my keeper league. We can keep 0-4 players each year. My keepers this year were: Brees, Thomas, Johnson, and McFadden. 14 team league. I had the 11th pick, based on standings from last year and we did not do a serpentine draft. Here's my team:

Brees, Drew QB NO
McFadden, Darren RB OAK
Parker, Willie RB PIT
Avery, Donnie WR STL
Ginn Jr., Ted WR MIA
Johnson, Calvin WR DET
Carney, John K NO
Steelers DST
Edwards, Trent QB BUF
Mendenhall, Rashard RB PIT
Thomas, Pierre RB NO
Branch, Deion WR SEA
Crabtree, Michael WR SF
Henderson, Devery WR NO

All TD's are 6, non-PPR, start 1 QB 2 RB 3 WR/TE 1 K 1 DST. Rushing & Receiving yards are added together and we get 1 point per 25, 1 point per 50 passing, 1 pt per 25 punt and 50 kick return yards.

Defensive scoring has the usual for turnovers/sacks/etc, and the yardage/points allowed scoring is:

PA - Points Against, Total Points Scored
0 - 6 PA = 4 points
7 - 12 PA = 3 points
13 - 17 PA = 2 points
18 - 23 PA = 0 points
24 - 28 PA = -2 points
29 - 33 PA = -3 points
34+ PAs = -4 points

YDS - Yards Allowed
0 - 189 YDSs = 4 points
190 - 229 YDSs = 3 points
230 - 279 YDSs = 2 points
280 - 319 YDSs = 0 points
320 - 359 YDSs = -2 points
360 - 399 YDSs = -3 points
400+ YDSs = -4 points

Why do people post their teams?

Like we care...

If you have a question or discussion about a player or who to start, etc., then it makes sense. This thread is for advice...don't just post your team and expect anyone to care.
