The problem is that black men in general have given themselves a bad name. They are the highest prison population. This causes white people to fear them, so I can see why someone maybe called the cops when a black man was trying to enter a house. I work at a grocery store and most of the caught shoplifters are black men. There were 4 black men who robbed the pizza hut in my shopping center. Black men attacked a women at Wallgreens across the street, and my mom was robbed in our parking lot by 2 black men. In the 6 years that all of this has happened since I have been working at the store, we have caught 2 white men shoplifting.

Also it is not just black men that are feared. So are Arab men because these people have a higher percentage of terrorist cells around the world and seem to be guilty of terrorist crimes more than blacks, hispanics, or whites. I did hear on the news about 5 years ago that Israel uses racial profiling. They consider young Arab men the most dangerous and white American men the second most dangerous. I can't say I blame them because most serial killers in the USA and cult leaders are white men (Ted Bundy, BTK, Son of Sam, Peoples Temple, Heavens Gate, Strong City).

If you stood a white man, black man, and Arab man next to each other and without having any information about any of them, had to guess which one committed armed robbery, who is the serial killer, and which one is the terrorist, what crime would you match with each?

^The point is that a lot of people believe black men are most likely to commit crimes and prison populations by race says they are correct, so I can understand why someone would call the cops, if it looked like a black man was trying to break into a house.

As for serial killers, I am white, but I am not a serial killer and have no plans to ever murder anyone. Your comment pretty much follows the sterotype that serial killers are educated white men just like Ted Bundy was, while blacks wear baggy pants and rob people, and terrorist are arabs with beards that blow things up with bombs. My point is proven.

i do not understand what is so "controversal" or "racist" about this statement as some are surely going to imply paging Fail Boat and BridgetSPK

This is merely observational. Perhaps leaders in the African American community like Obama can continue to further assist, educate, and provide positive influences for fellow young black adults as an effort to disparge this stereotype which will only occur at a decrease of the stereotypical behavior exhibited by a minor subpopulation.

If you look at a well-dressed, well-spoken black man the same way you look at a thug with a wife-beater and durag, then you are indeed a racist. If you look at a thugged-out white guy differently than you would look at a thugged-out black guy, then you are indeed a racist.

If you dont, then why are you attributing race to behavior? Are you judging their skin color, or their clothing? You don't acknowledge the fact that black men draw their lots in life from a different box than white men. Poor, uneducated, unloved people commit crimes. Skin color is completely incidental to criminal inclination, thus you are being racist.

I was refering to 3 criminals in their jail suits when I said, "if you stand a black man, white man, and Arab next to each other and ask someone to point out the armed robber, serial killer, and terrorist without giving any information about them, which one would people pick." The majority of people would probably say the Arab is the terrorist, the black man is the robber, and the serial killer is the white man. The fact that the largest prison population is black men, the most wanted terrorist are Arabs, and the most famous serial killers are white men cause most people to believe these stereotypes and become prejudice even though they aren't always true. This leads to people calling the cops when they see a black man standing at a door trying to get in the house. Someday when black men aren't the majority of the prison population then the other races might not call the cops when people are entering their own house.

The women always get scared at the store at night when small groups of black teenagers are in the parking lot. I know them and they are cool, but I can't say I can blame the women since every robbery that has occurred at the shopping center I work at has been done by black men. Until the crime rate for black men goes down, a lot of white people will always be affraid when they see them trying to enter a house at night.
