McDanger reminds me of an old friend. Once I got married - he use to bust my chops about not coming out any more. Newsflash - I outgrew drinking, weed and video games on a Wednesday night.

I believe most of us grow up past the early 20s lifestyle. What happens is - some men use the wives as an excuse. "Its not me - I want to play Nintendo at 3am - she won't let me". This is lame.

Need more truth up in this world.

On any given weeknight, if you have no obligations with work you have 3 basic options

1. Stay home

2. Go out with your friends

3. Go out with your wife

There should be a balance there, be it 20/40/40, 30/40/30 or whatever.

I'm not saying don't hang out with your wife...just make sure you leave some time for me.

I think I have had enough separate time from Ken to not be paranoid about things. Also he is the most loyal person EVER.

The whole time we dated and were engaged we lived in different states.
Then there were times while being married that we had a few months of separation at a time because of his jobs.

I guess if you are attached at the hip the whole time leaves room for insecurity when you are finally separate? I really don't know these things, though.

And?

Of course there are things he would say to other friends that he wouldn't say to me. There are things I say to my friends that I wouldn't say to him. There are things that I wouldn't say to my female BFF that I would say to him. That's the nature of relationships.

You're talking to girls that are too young, but then I kinda get the impression that you don't really go out or talk to girls much at all.

My wife is generally in the same shape or better than when we were married - I unfortunately am letting her down in this department. She does my laundry and has dinner cooked several nights a week.

I fucked around enough with girls in my college years that trying to keep up that type of lifestyle in my mid 20s just became a bit of a bore and a chore. We all mature at different rates though, so if one lifestyle sounds more appealing than another, live that one.

Nothing is lamer than inviting a friend out and them telling you we'll be there. I didn't invite you both (sometimes I do). Also, a friend not going out b/c the other person can't for whatever reason. Super lame.

Also, this thread is some of the best trolling I've ever seen in my 9 years on TWW. lol

Agreed. I would catch my silly ex lying on the phone, telling his friends, "I can't go out ... Lucy is sick." And I'd be perfectly fine. He just didn't want to go out with his friends. But he wasn't the most honest person around either.

The other day a bunch of my buddies and I were going to go to a special event at a bar. Just before we leave, one of the buddies gets a phone call from his gf, who's driving back from Charlotte. He talks to her and says, "Sorry guys, I can't go to the bar."
"Why?"
"GF is coming home and she wants me to stay here."
"Oh, you guys doing something?"
"No, she'll probably just go to sleep as soon as she gets here, but she wants me to stay in."
"...and do what?"
"Not go to the bar, I guess."

So he stayed home and played video games while the rest of us had a good time and mocked him ruthlessly, because his girlfriend made him stay home for no reason.

i'll straight admit that I don't have the interest in going out every night of the week like I did when I was in my early twenties. however, some of it is due to a lacking variety and some is due to budget. i would likely be more inclined to go out if I didn't have a gf who was eating up what would otherwise be entertainment dollars in my budget.

that being said, no matter how "grown up" you are the only men who want to sit around the house and watch dancing with the stars and the bachelor every day of the week are irreparably lame. Women use the few occasions their man cops out and uses them as an excuse for a basis of generalization they apply to every event all they want, but it isn't true. you can also ask where we find these women and claim you aren't that way but I am certain 80% of the girls who have made those comments in this thread are that way.

edit: you girls might as well all say you don't far in your sleep
how can i be so certain? because I have as of yet to see a girl be anything but what has been described in this thread. girls that i've known, who would have described themselves as one of the guys (but really weren't), and eventually start dating my male friends behave the exact same way. no matter how awesome a girl is in independent single mode, which is what attracts you to them, they will eventually form a codependent nature in regards to social activity.

as sweet as my girlfriend is, she is guilty too. yet, when she visits her friends she notices what has been described in this thread and then remark to me how shocked she is her friends behave this way and how she hopes she is never like that. sometimes i respond with how her behavior is similar, but all that comes of that is her getting upset and and then intentionally biting her lip the next time i spend all night out. its never a long term fix so 95% of the time I say fuck it and don't fight it.

and really, ladies, that is what it boils down to for your men as well. the discussions just aren't worth it. You don't have as much fun staying out all night when you have a girlfriend waiting up for when you come home or when you go out and keep in the back of your mind that she is at home feeling unwanted and unhappy, regardless of the other 13 days you spent with her in a row.

again, every guy i've known has a girl like this. every girl i have dated has been this way. did the majority of those girls think they weren't that way at all, absolutely.

Maybe I have a huge misconception on marriage, but why the hell would you be worried whether a girl will sleep with you or not because you're married... Dude YOU'RE MARRIED and I was sure you're sworn to be mongamous?

I think my take on everything is maybe you ought to think about it in reverse: would you approve if your wife did/think the same thing?

I mean if you and your wife agree that its ok for you both to take your ring off in hopes that you'll find someone else that wants to sleep with you, then by all means GO FER IT...

Personally, I wouldn't want some guy other than my SO wanting to sleep with me so I would keep my ring on and I would expect the same from my SO... Its more of a matter of communication and understanding and respecting eachother and what they are comfortable with. If you aren't on the same page, then it just sucks.

I truly don't understand this part of your statement. Why do you assume women feel this way if you go out? (Ok, I will admit, I'm sure some very needy girls react this way... But good Lord, sometimes we want "me time.")

And my question still hasn't been answered -- what exception are yall referring to that every girl in this thread seems to think she is?

They all think they're the "exception" to the rule that girlfriends ruin guy's social outings, whether they're there or not. Women in this thread all seem to think that lots of other girls cause this problem, but not them. Oh no. Not them.

I don't keep a bunch of guy friends because it's too much work trying to keep up the social life. I've always had really strong family ties (4 sisters, no bros, coincidentally) and feel no need to surround myself with friends. I have the family that will stay up talking till the morning hours whenever we get together.

My wife doesn't keep a bunch of girlfriends because she's not into the drama/immaturity that comes with that. She can be a bitch, but I usually agree with her when she is. It comes out when there are issues with (lack of) planning/thought/decisiveness. She's like that one person in the group that will do the whole project herself rather than rely on someone else's ineptitude

are y'all still arguing over this....it's pretty obvious that every girl thinks she is the exception to every guy hating girls who think they are just one of the guys.

It's also pretty obvious that every guy that hates girls who think they are just one of the guys only hate them because they are jealous of the fact that these girls can keep up with them yet they can't get the chicks in bed with them.

I felt like one of the guys once in my life but for the most part, I just felt like a girl friend. And any guy that has ever been my best friend or a really close friend liked me hard core or fell in love with me.

I am a crazy bitch that is opinionated and jealous. I have hang ups with trusting guys but trust Ken completely. I would be insecure if he went to a titty bar and gave money to woman dancing for him. He is not into titty bars but on kind of a double standard, I would not mind if he watched porn, just as long as it is free and not filled with fetish. I would feel insecure/worried for his safety if he went out of state and never contacted me but I would not be blowing up his phone with insecure texts and phone calls. Two at the most. Why does someone not stay for a whole game? That is stupid. I would be really hurt if he took off his ring while away from me. He does not check in every 45 minutes when he is hanging out or away from me. I hope when he masturbates that he thinks of me 80% of the time. If he thinks of other people, I don't want to know. I don't mind if he smokes weed. I want to smoke weed right now.

He is a grown ass man and he can make his own decisions.

I am not an exception to the rule.

My husband shares his porn with me, uses the bathroom with the door open, and told me that he likes "tall, thin, flat chested brunettes" so it says something for my personality that he married me. If he says things around his guy friends that he won't say around me, maybe I need to get a divorce.
