not a new vid. They just stole all the content from hoopsmixtape.com, recompressed it to shitty quality, poorly synced the music, and posted it as 1 video.

I'm really hoping that our incoming recruits can shoot well, and not just dunk (which is what the highlights show 90% of the time). You never see teams making deep runs in the tourney because their players make awesome dunks every time down the court. All of the top teams can shoot the ball extremely well.

Well, keep hoping. You rarely see freshmen shoot well. Scott wood was a better shooter than all of our guys coming in, and he sucked last year.

It just takes a year for freshmen legs to get used to playing good college defense, which comes at the expense of shooting. The new guys should get less minutes than wood, but the cards are still stacked against them.

Do you even know what you're talking about? Did you make that up on the spot, because that is the dumbest thing I've ever read on the internet?

I mean it kind of makes sense since a kid might have tired legs after playing good defense and thus not get as much lift on their jumpshot, but from what I've been reading about Harrow and Brown's conditioning regimen this summer I'm not particularly worried about it.

I know this was written more than a month ago, but it's probably got more to do with weightlifting than "legs". High school athletes don't work out nearly as hard (some maybe not at all) as they do beginning in college. It takes some time to readjust to the new muscle you've added when you've been shooting one way for years. You could be a little tighter, a little heavier, stronger, etc. and it will throw things off a little.

no, leslie didn't make any of them in the McD's game. ryan might get the small-guy-sympathy vote but if vandy does what he did last year, there's no stopping him.

Seriously, how many 7+ foot collegiate players can do a rock the cradle dunk and a between the legs dunk? Narrowing that down, how many 'white' 7+ footers could do that?

For those that weren't there, he didn't miss a single one of his 4 dunks. Rather breathtaking performance by the Aussie. Hopefully, he'll be defending his crown tomorrow.

Quote :
"C.J. Leslie still confident, just a little more guarded
by Brett Friedlander

C.J. Leslie made a splash the day he signed his national letter of intent to play at N.C. State by proclaiming that the Wolfpack would win the ACC championship and be ranked among the nation’s top five.

Four months later, the freshman forward is just as confident him himself, his two rookie teammates Ryan Harrow and Lorenzo Brown, and the supporting cast of returning talent that will join them on the court at the RBC Center this season.

But when asked Friday at State’s preseason media day if he still feels as strongly about his team’s potential, Leslie’s rhetoric was as closely guarded as he figures to be the first time he gets the ball on the low post against either Duke or North Carolina.

“The only expectation you can have from us is to go out there and play hard. That’s what we are going to do,” Leslie said. “We are doing it one step at a time. We just want to make sure we go on the court, gel and keep working hard. All the other stuff will come.”

From the sound of things, coach Sidney Lowe’s first lessons to his new players have already hit home.

It’s one thing to be a little cocky and set high goals, he told them, but a little bit of humility also goes a long way — especially for a team entering the coming season with such high expectations.

Lowe could only chuckle Friday when asked if he’d taken steps to reel his highly touted freshmen in.

“You like the fact that they are confident, that’s part of what makes them the players they are and will become when they have some experience” Lowe said. “But this is different, they are going to be playing against the best players in the country in arguably the toughest conference in the country and a tough schedule that we have coming. The worst thing you can do is get opponents fired up before you even played them.”

For now, the members of the Wolfpack are only concentrating on firing themselves up.

They got a head start on that Friday with their formal public introduction at a “Red Rally,” State’s version of Midnight Madness, that only emphasized how eagerly anticipated the 2010-11 season is … and has been for quite some time now.

“We are extremely excited right now,” Brown said. “We’ve been talking about this since we were young and we are finally here so we plan to make the best of it.”"

^I don't know...I wouldn't say they've been that bad. I mean, they are freshmen after all. CJ Leslie was 1-14 tonight...but, all those shots were close to the basket - they just weren't going in. Players have nights like that. It wasn't necessarily his fault...he just needs to work on finishing around the goal. CJL is by far the best rebounder on the team, but at this point that's like being the tallest midget. Brown, had a decent game...but made some bonehead moves (the entire team did...not just the freshmen) and had a lot of turnovers. Harrow is still figuring things out against stiffer competition.

All 3 freshmen have shown flashes of brilliance (Harrow had 20 in Reynolds, Leslie had a great game vs Youngstown St, Brown had 17 or so in Reynolds) and all have made their share of rookie mistakes. The big problem is that the team as a whole is not that great...which is putting more pressure on the freshmen to succeed. And so far they've been wildly inconsistent. I think Tracy Smith getting healthy will do a lot of good for the freshmen. Then we'll be running the offense that was practiced all summer.

[Edited on December 20, 2010 at 12:21 AM. Reason : rebounding]

john wall was a freshman.

he did pretty well.

With a class as highly-ranked as this one, most would expect IMMEDIATE wins. 80% of the time, top 5 classes result in quick turnarounds of shitty teams.

Maybe it's something else?
