got free tickets at the downtown parade thing. also saw a guy with a Canes flag tattooed on his head.

side note: does anyone know if "Big Mike" has a real job? or is he just paid to walk around and blow into a vuvuzela

Nice to see they went with the same bobblehead company as last year, because those were pretty awesome (aside from Erik Cole's George W. resemblance). I might have to do some Ebay watching to grab one or two of them since I won't be able to go to the games.

^^^Where's the place to see this season's bobblehead lineup?

Went to the march today at lunch...I was glad to see a pretty solid turnout for mid-day on a Monday...lol at the random people around downtown who got wind of free shit and started running for free tickets.

Definitely a solid giveaway though...2 free lower level seats to next Wednesday's game. I'll be there this Wednesday as well...BEAP BEAP.

He's a teacher to really young kids. He also does loads of charity work. For instance, for his own birthday, he holds an event to raise money for children's hospitals. He will go shopping for all kinds of games, toys, etc for the kids and take them to the hospital.

He's awesome.

he's trying to get a group together to go to Nashville the first weekend in December. I'll be there, not sure if I'm getting tickets with the group yet or not though. Southwest tickets to Nashville are $30 each way for the next 3 days, fyi.

Found out last week that I got an internship with the 'Canes. So I'll be there a lot more for games than just the mini pack my family normally gets. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Haven't been to a canes game in like 2 years any suggestions on best way to deal with parking. I get off work at 4 will probably pick up a few supplies and head over early so keep that in mind.

We like to park in the Fairgrounds lot across from Carter-Finley. Its free, they have a cop directing the crosswalk and traffic closer to game time, and there are no restrictions on what you can do out there or how early you can roll up.

That's where I always park...it's a longer walk, but much less of a bitch to get out of after the game.

Also...

You referring to the lot that starts right there at the corner of blue ridge and trinity or is there another further down trinity?

yeah it technically starts there and eventually turns from paved to grass/dirt/trees the closer you get to the stadia.

Basically the corner of youth center and trinity is where we park

Gotcha that's generally where I've parked for football games in the past didnt know if I should expect any different for a Canes game everytime I've gone before now was some corporate thing or something so I didnt drive and parking areas were already designated that sorta thing haha.

Normally I park in those office buildings on the corner of Trinity and Edwards Mill across from the gas station and Wendy's. It's a bit of a walk (not any farther than the student football tailgating lot by the horse complex), but I have zero trouble at all getting out of there after the game.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m., for a special pre-game ceremony, including former Hurricanes greats Rod Brind’Amour and Glen Wesley participating in the sounding of the Hurricane-warning siren. The team will reveal the 2011 All-Star Game banner during the first period, and a Hurricanes-themed window cling will be distributed as fans exit the RBC Center following the game."

This is either going to be the successful execution of something I have wanted to see for years, or a terrible embarrassment.

First missed opening night since 2005 for me. Going to the game at MSG on Friday and Wells Fargo Center on Monday though!

Probably a stupid question but I cant remember and Ive never gone to a game when it was 80 degrees outside, but how cold do they keep the place for hockey games? I dont really wanna throw jeans on with it being so warm outside unless Im gonna regret it once I get inside for the game haha

I've been to games in shorts before and been fine. I usually sit in the upper deck, though. The closer you get to the ice the colder it gets.

One of my favorite things in the world is playoff hockey in the summer, walking from the heat after tailgating into the arena and getting that blast of cool air.
