Looking at starting the third trimester in a couple of days. The fingernail and hair growth is wacky. I feel like a fuzzy monkey, but my nails look great! I have FINALLY stopped throwing up. I crave fruits and vegetables. I've been making a lot of different homemade soups and drinking a lot of smoothies. I'm taking like 3 different things to keep my heartburn under control. So, I feel yall's pain.

Any suggestion for constipation cures? I haven't been able to keep enough fluid down to help that way and it's a fairly miserable situation.

Sorry for the TMI on that, but you all have been through and thought you may be able to help.

Colace (stool softener). If you can't get more water down, you probably can't get more fiber down, so take a stool softener at night when you go to bed. It's on the list of helpful hints my obgyn hands out. You might need it on hand later if they put you on pain pills after delivery anyway.

Good luck. You'll want to take care of the constipation because it can lead to the other pregnancy horror -- hemorrhoids.

So I got a moby wrap because my Maya wrap killed my back when I was carrying Maya in it. Now I am looking into a BabyHawk Mei Tai. I like them both. Ahhhhhhh....decisions!!! I think I might do the Moby wrap while Orion is smaller and get a BabyHawk for when she is around 8 months-1 1/2.

http://www.babyhawk.com/

http://www.mobywrap.com/

both have great ratings and both pass safety inspections unlike A LOT of carriers.

Also, I really like this hospital bag check list.

FYI- Ive seen the Moby wraps for sale several times on babysteals.com which is a deal of the day type website- they dont have any available right now because they typically sell out of them each day but Im sure they will be back eventually.

I've had a few of those myself. Very freaky feeling. They don't hurt but it is just not a normal feeling.

ooooh a checklist--I love me a list!

I've had what I think are BH start this past week as well...had one on Saturday night while Justin was at a bachelor party. It didn't hurt like ^ said, but the already different feeling exacerbated by the fact I was alone was unnerving for about 2 minutes

And anyone with their first on the way, have you started looking for a pediatrician yet? Or if it's your 2nd/3rd/etc, when did you start looking?

I looked for a peds about a month before Maya was born and chose one on proximity to my house. Not always the best idea. While in the hospital I was given more information on different peds so I ended up choosing one when I went home with Maya.

One week to go!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of peds, we decided to go with Cary Pediatrics, b/c of several referrals by friends/family and they also have offices in Cary, Raleigh, and Fuquay, and you can go to any of the offices. Just an FYI for anyone looking around Wake Co.

Packed hospital bags, mounted the video monitor camera so now the nursery is complete; we're ready to do this! Oh, and although he's not born yet, he's ready for the lake...

we chose our pediatrician based on recommendations of friends/colleagues.

we went with Raleigh Pediatrics' Garner office. I am sure there are some that are closer to our house, but we love our doctor. He is great.

On that vein, my wife absolutely loves it when people say things like "you look so big!" or "whoa, you're really out there!".

I told her to just respond with, "yeah and my tits are fucking huge too aren't they?"

Honestly, I'd find a really great family practice instead of getting a pediatrician. Pediatrician offices are a mad house and when your baby is sick you usually are to, a pediatrician will not do anything for you but your general practice family doctor can write Rx for both of you.

I hate sharing this because I love the place and don't want it getting busy but Dr. Foreman at Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine is AWESOME! They have an office in North Raleigh, Cary and Holly Springs. All the doctors are wonderful (and fairly young) but Foreman is the best I've seen anywhere. They see both my wife and the little guy in the same visit and his main nurse gives my wife her direct phone line (which they never do).

http://www.lactationconsultant.info/cabbagecure.html

So I have been dealing with engorgement since my milk has come in. It is too much milk for Orion to drink to clear out my boob or latch so I called my lactation consultants and they suggested me putting regular green cabbage on my breast. Holy shit it is weird but damn if it REALLY does work! Leave on swollen area for about 20 mins and then Orion can latch properly! Pretty cool.

Oh my gosh, this is torture! We were due yesterday and still nothing. It's like a kid Christmas morning and your parents are like, "oh... Yeah.... About that, Christmas is not today. Sorry about your luck, we're not exactly sure when it's going to be, but just wait indefinitely." TORTURE for someone as impatient and excited as I am.

Reporting back on the cabbage remedy....it only helped the first two times. So i am now using lecithin. I hope this works well. Lactation suggested this as well. I will report back. I hope none of you girls have to deal with this because it is painful and i am feeding my chid every 45 min-2 hours. Hopefully this is helping to gain that weight she lost at the beginning.
Oh i will post a few pics soon either in this thread or the TWW babies thread. I hope people feel comfortable enough to post their baby's pictures because i want to see what all these babies we have been talking about look like.

Also to report about Maya, her favorite phrase lately is "it's ok, baby." so cute sounding like a little mama.

Jacob Emerson was born yesterday morning at 5:57am, weighed in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 21.5" long. The wifey did fantastic! Things went very well and pretty quickly. Epidurals are AWESOME!!! Jake and his mom are both doing well and we can't stop staring at him!!

All the best to the new parents and those of y'all who are still knocked up
