It doesn't matter what I wear, I look good in all of it. That said, I wear shorts to work and they're exclusively cargos. I have a huge ass rendering back pockets useless and always have my phone, wallet, keys (think janitor ring), thumb drive, gum, and leatherman. If I found a decent tool belt, I might just wear that every day and it'd be fashionable as fuck, because I'd be wearing it.

So you have some data to back up your claim:

Nay to the first sentence (solid leather belt and ankle high socks only). Had a braided belt that I often wore with a silk shirt and black jeans...in 1991. Yes to the shoes, don't own a Van Heusen shirt but probably have several "dress" shirts that I'm sure you would consider of even lesser quality than Van Heusen. Own at least a dozen ties, have worn 2 of them in 2011 on 3 occasions. I have actual dress pants as well as khakis. Don't know my jacket size because the last jacket I bought was several years ago when I was 30 pounds heavier.

Last office job I had was at a tech company where I wore shorts, sandals (or sneakers), jeans, and t-shirts to work every day. I work from home now and still dress the same way. Don't see a need to buy a bunch of expensive clothes to impress people I never see and don't care about anyway.

Not sure why any of this matters. All these "stylish" model photos posted in this thread look lame / girly / uncomfortable to me. But that's my opinion, if those guys are happy with their clothes then that's cool with me.

I was assuming we were talking about cotton khaki type cargo shorts, and not nylon shorts that you would be using backpacking. I have plenty of nylon shorts for outdoor stuff that have cargo pockets. I like those because you can zip the cargo pockets up

I do wear ankle socks for running/athletics to prevent chafing and I have some blck crew socks (non-drss) for basketball for the same reason.

also wear whatever you want in general, but just like everyone's mother said, clothes make the man. What you wear gives a certain first imprssion.

I have buddies that wear white crew socks w/ jeans or shorts, and they are still cool people, they just look kinda goofy at times.

Arab13 is wearing a pair right now. In fact most of his shorts are cargo pants. I really don't understand all the hate, cause I guess I don't care.

But then.... my father still wears teva sandals with black dress socks pulled up past his ankles. I bought him a pair of normal khakis and light light yellow shorts from McKenzie Tribe in North Hills yesterday, so he should be ok for a while. Also he always wears polo's or those Columbia shirts with the flap in the back. In fact three years ago, I bought him three teal ones b/c that is all about he will wear.

Most of my khaki shorts have at least 1 cargo pocket. Not really by choice though. Nor do I particularly care one way or the other about cargo shorts. To me they are just shorts.
