I seem to recall him saying something like that to battista's sister.
Yeah, it may have been a few seasons since they've talked about his apathy... I just started watching like 2years ago and watched them all back to back. So I don't perceive as being as "far in the past" as it really has been i guess. But even with Rita, a lot of it was going through motions. I'd say his son is the first person he ever truly loved. So I guess they may not go that route, but that would be interesting to me.
I'm just worried they'll go with something crappy like he gains control of his "dark passenger" or some crap and is "reformed." I'd rather see them expose him as an all out monster than play to his palatable attributes. 12/21/2011 10:17:38 PM |

Quote : | "Special award for once being a good show but now being utterly awful The sixth season of Dexter just might have been the worst season of television to air this year, going from the strained comedy of the season première, to a storyline about two villains who barely intersected with the main story, to a twist that nearly everyone in its audience saw coming weeks before it was played. Now the show’s trying to suggest icky things about its central sibling duo, while everybody involved goes through the motions. One episode wasted several minutes of screen time on Dexter’s sister going over the vagaries of Florida property law. For a once-entertaining show, this is an embarrassing low." |

Hmm, I usually like the avclub but this its kinda silly. I agree that it wasn't one of the best seasons, but it's far from as bad as that makes it sound.
what's ridiculous is that he says it was possibly the worst season of tv this year, yet it didn't make his top (bottom) 10.

Calling it the worst season of television to air this year in that article doesn't even make sense. If they stand by that sentence then why isn't it number one on the actual list? 12/23/2011 10:45:41 PM |

Quote : | "No. 5 - 'Dexter'
Like a number of heavily serialized shows, Showtime's "Dexter" seasons have frequently started well and ended well and struggled in the middle. In Season 6, the struggles started almost immediately -- Colin Hanks and Edward James Olmos paled in comparison to previous "Dexter" Big Bads -- then grew worse in the middle -- Mos Def's character, the season's most appealing new element and the only hope for the salvation of the painful exploration of Dexter's faith, went out too soon -- and hit an astounding crescendo of suck down the home stretch. There was The Episode Dexter Goes To The Midwest and Bangs A Gas Station Clerk. There was The Episode That Revealed The Plot Twist Everybody Already Guessed. There was The Episode Dexter Advanced The Plot By Blogging. There was The Episode Deb Got Really Bad Psychiatric Advice And Everybody Cringed. And, finally, there was a series-worst finale with a clumsy resolution to the Hanks plotline and then a painful botch of the moment that many/most fans have been eagerly awaiting for years. It appears that "Dexter" is headed for the end of its run after two additional seasons, but the "Dexter" Endgame isn't off to a good start. " |
