I like how people are saying tbdv will never be as good as painter, when the last two years painter was the worst scholarship player on the team.
He improved leaps and bounds this past season, so I think I'll wait to say shit like that until next year. 4/8/2012 9:32:41 AM |

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Maybe a year in the system for Vandy can do the same for him that it did for Painter. It's just that Painter came out looking improved this year while Vandy appeared to be the same waste of space he always was. I just have no confidence in Vandenburg, whatsoever 4/8/2012 9:35:48 AM |

With a year in the Gottfried system under his belt, Vandy can play some minutes at PG if he wants to. I saw on Twitter that he's a cyborg now. 4/8/2012 12:33:32 PM |

How about we just get Amile jefferson and not have to worry about picking between two crappy players. 4/8/2012 1:12:58 PM |
Prawn Star All American 7643 Posts user info edit post |
Amile can't play center.
Unless we land Andrew Young this year or a guy like Randle next, we are looking at starting Vandy in 2013-14 if we want to run a traditional scheme.
I suppose we could get away with Amile and Harris/Warren in the post against smaller teams, but that just won't fly against teams like UNC and Kentucky who always have length inside. 4/8/2012 1:22:30 PM |

If Vandy is starting, we won't have to worry about competing against UNC and Kentucky. Jesus christ. Yes, let's take the course of actions that avoid starting Vandy.
And yes, putting the 5 best players on the court and running a non-traditional scheme (god forbid ) is better than starting your bench players. That's called good coaching. 4/8/2012 1:32:29 PM |

Yeah, we'll need someone to combat their length inside, unless we want to go 0-1 for all of those games we play against UNC and Kentucky next year. And before you say it, what teams are like UNC and Kentucky? 4/8/2012 1:40:00 PM |

Some guy's ACC prediction for next year has us at #3 with CJL and UNC at 2. I don't see how we are not favored to be in the top two next year with CJL coming back.

Add in a top-five recruiting class, and it’s understandable why people are expecting N.C. State to be strong again. If C.J. Leslie returns as well, it could be an even more memorable second year for Gottfried. Without Leslie, the Pack won’t be this high." |

roy williams has coached at unc for nine seasons now, and has finished first or tied for first six times, and second once. the other two seasons were his first and the larry drew II disaster season (where we were their only two wins in a stretch of 12 games jesus christ). this is not his first time losing a lot of players. to assume they'll finish middle of the conference is silly. 4/10/2012 1:15:35 PM |

No way, that'd be a disaster. Raymond leaving has little to do with our rotatation. Purvis is a true 2 and Zo can slide over easily when Lewis runs point..

Wood may have to spend some time at the 2 if we have an injury in the backcourt.
On the bright side, we could potentially sign both Jefferson and Young this month.

last year we had zo, johnson, williams...not counting raymond who rarely played. this year we have zo, lewis, purvis. i forgot to count williams the first time. but we're in pretty much the same situation as last year. and if raymond couldn't play last year, i don't think he'd get significantly more minutes this coming year.
