Can't a brother just get a piece of chicken without it being a political statement.

This is why I eat Bojangles .

Seriously though, Chick-Fil-A is good but its overrated.

how is taking down a fast food place going to help gay marriage?

you know that Santorum or some other rich political figure will fork over the money to the organizations if Chick-fil-a crumbles.

^^The only thing I have to say about that, is that I've never gotten a "meal" from CFA that was $6.50 or less. Shit's expensive.

Brilliant move by CFA. Not only do they have steadfast support from staunch conservatives who fiercely defend the sanctity of marriage and freedom of speech, who will no doubt support CFA for weeks and months to come both with their wallet and with their words in defense of these principles -- but also the blacks, who while liberal, hate gays and like chicken.

If you ignore the bigger picture, sure. Most human rights battles throughout history have ignited over something similarly minor. It usually takes something like this for it to snowball.

its not going to snowball theyve been picking on chumps for years.

theres not been one big, serious, coordinated movement directed at anyone that matters, its all been about slandering one individual and ruining their career, but doing nothing to actually further their cause

and they puff their chests all out because they ruined someone's life "O THIS IS WHAT HAPPENES WHEN YOU OPPOSE EQUAL RIGHTS"

come on

I just had a shiver go down my spine when I thought about Cookout going all religious and having a big support/boycott thing going on.

I know they are religious bc of the little bible verse on the cups, but dear god I will be pissed if the lines get more than 5 deep or I have to drive through protesters at any point. Don't mess with my cajun fries

I didn't risk going to Chick-fil-a because I heard that if you eat at Chick-fil-a you are a homophobic bigot.

I hope that everyone out there enjoying their chick-fil-a in the name of making a political statement will find equal comfort tomorrow when you resume your normal consumption habits and unwittingly buy from a plethora of companies that fully support societal equality! You wouldn't want to appear discriminatory or anything, would you?

if Chick-Fil-A doesn't support the gays, then why do they have so many gay food items like yogurt parfaits and fruit cups and peach milkshakes?

^For the same reason that all fast food resturants do. They are trying to change their image since they get a lot of heat from the government and other groups to stop serving unhealthy food.

"^My only choices for breakfast are the overpriced scones and stuff at Starbucks, the regular/spicy chicken biscuit at Chik-Fil-A, or the slower and more expensive, but quite tasty, breakfast custom cooked at Greens. Pancakes/eggs/sausage stuff. They are the best, but also costs a bit more than the $2 I pay for a biscuit that takes a couple seconds to make."

Holy shit, is this for real?

Parents and society should teach kids from a young age how to make their own healthy breakfast, and America would slim down within a generation.

Quote :
"The Human Rights Campaign, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group, said Wednesday that Cathy’s comments gave consumers a clear choice.

“It’s strange to say, but it’s good to see Chick-fil-A finally admit to their anti-LGBT policies,” Michael Cole-Schwartz, the organization’s director of communications, told CNN. “Now fair-minded consumers can make up their own minds whether they want to support an openly discriminatory company or take their business elsewhere. As the country moves toward inclusion, Chick-fil-A has staked out a decidedly stuck-in-the-past mentality.”"

So Mr. Cole-Schwartz, who are they discriminating against?

BTW, "The Human Rights Campaign", that's a misleading [and sanitized for public consumption] name for a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group.

How funny. Don't make fun of me if you can't understand logic and the meaning of "misleading". Ever heard of "misleading monikers", or "misleading statistics"? Did you not learn those in HS or college? Hint: "Misleading" does not mean false.

IF they only advocate for LGBT issues, they should call it "The LGBT Rights Campaign".

Calling it "The Human Rights Campaign" gives the impression that they advocate for various human rights issues [such as http://www.hrw.org/en, a real human rights organization], not just a particular small subset of human rights issues. Hence, misleading.

I am going to start a group to advocate for rights of and protest against discrimination of people who are into hardcore S&M, and call it... "The Human Rights Group", cuz well, they are humans!

@DivaBaby19

I hate using the word "rights" because it has been overused... as in its my right to have a home to live in. My right to have a cell phone.

I would rather say every individual has personal liberties, freedoms, and has to be treated equally. My viewpoint is, the government has to treat everyone equally... I went off on it a lot before, but I think that at the very least that the govt. has to recognize that to give a certain group "benefits" you have to give it to the other group.

All I will say... time for bed.

I didn't realize that crying about people who don't approve of your lifestyle was a Human Rights issue. I guess things like human trafficking, slavery, terrorism, and genocide are overrated issues that Human Rights Watch is wasting their time on.

they can boycott it and talk against it all they want.

but libel is another thing. many commentators are saying the company "discriminates against" gays/whatever.

from a legal point of view, that is libel. how does the company discriminate against anybody? they openly say anybody can work there and they serve everybody.
