He stepped on the baseline during an inbounds play after a BC basket, luckily the refs didnt call him for that turnover

then he nearly got a backcourt violation when he had the ball, straddling the halfcourt line, shifting it back and forth

he has the basketball IQ of drunknloaded

there are very valid reasons he never sees real minutes

just cause he's black and more athletic than vandy doesnt mean he is as good a basketball player as that kangaroo clown

For a backcourt violation you have to entirely cross halfcourt first. He caught the ball while straddled, moved none, and passed the ball.

Everything I've found in the past few seconds confirms what I thought, that the ball and both feet of the player have to cross the line for it to be considered in the frontcourt, and either of the player's feet touching the line again results in a violation.

if everything is already in the front court, then just stepping on the line is a backcourt violation

but you can catch the ball while straddling the line, if the pass is from the backcourt

but if you're in that position, with a foot in the front court and backcourt, once the ball crosses the line, you dont get a backcourt violation for having one foot in the backcourt even though you have a foot in the frontcourt

i was about to look it up but a quick search only found an epub, not a pdf

he still has a low basketball IQ...just cause he's athletic and black doesnt mean he's earned non-garbage time minutes

yes that's what i'm saying. every part of the ball and the player has to cross into the frontcourt before a backcourt can even be thought of being called. It's not like the goal line in football.

Tree, I agree with 99% of what you post, but your disdain for Jevonni is really weird. The guy is on our team, remember. You don't have to hate him.

He hustles his ass off and is obviously athletic. Those two things alone make him more valuable than Vandenburg ever will be. That's indisputable. It doesn't really matter -- neither one will contribute anything significant this year or probably ever -- but to constantly rail on Robinson for no apparent reason is ridiculous.

Anyway, good win. Freshmen were awesome. Team defense (and Wood's in particular) was great. Big game at GT coming up.

i don't dislike Jevoni, and I know Gottfried isn't some flawless mastermind of a coach

but I think there is a good reason why he doesn't get many minutes, and I don't get all the people who want him to play 10 minutes a game

Purvis is obviously better than Jevoni...yet if Purvis has an off game, people say "well he's really athletic, but he's got a long way to go"...I figure if Robinson got decent minutes, people would be like "he's athletic but he sucks"

I love all our bench warmers, I just don't want them playing unless we're up 20

maybe we'll get a 40 point lead versus Wake and he can get a good 5-6 minutes in, so we can all see what he can do with some decent time on court...i wasnt too high on Lewis until he got a chance to get big minutes when Brown got hurt

Maybe I'm wrong but can't any player be subbed in to the shoot the FTs? Of course, they have to stay in the game after shooting them though.

6^ Nobody wants him to get decent minutes, or play over Leslie or Purvis, or be in the regular rotation. People want him playing over Vandenberg. That's it. If it's down to Jordan Vandenberg and any other basketball player I would take my chances with the other one. Put in Cannon or Jay Lewis even. I can't take Vandy minutes outside of garbage time

It comes down to trusting the coaches. Those "defending" Vandy are really defending the coaches' decisions, and those asking for Jevoni are playing coach based on seeing ~4 minutes of him in garbage time over the year. Perhaps Gott & co. are just blind to this and/or idiots - I'd like to think otherwise.

Good win. Thought Brown looked a little out of control on offense the first ~25 minutes or so, but made up for it with his defense and basically put the game away with his offense at the end. Tricky game @GT coming up - starting to look like the most difficult of our 3 remaining. UMD losing was big, and obviously the Duke/UVA game tonight is huge. Love this time of year.
