I'm not condoning the actions of the cops but the comments from the #outrage & #BLM community insinuate that it was completely ridiculous that a cop could consider a 12 yr old as a threat. This study is old but it lists that 11% of gang members are under 15 years of age. Thus i don't see how it couldn't be reasonable for a police officer to be a little on edge when encountering as 12-13 yr old who is suspected of having a fire arm.

If we consider this a true statement then why is there a difference in reaction? How do you prevent this for the future? #BLM would have everyone believe that "the cops are just mean racist privileged white folk that hate black people."

The discussions needed to fix these problems would involve discussing topics and hypotheses' that aren't always aligned with the 100% victim "oppression" narrative that #BLM and the PC-crowd propagates. Any deviation from this narrative is met with screams of "racist," "bigot," "you can't comment since you aren't black," "knuckle-dragger," etc

A claim against the estate, particularly the estate of a minor, isn't the same as a claim against his family members. Nevertheless, it's a poor PR move considering the small amount of money and the outrage generated by how many media outlets are portraying this. I wonder if this was a deliberate choice on the part of the City or if this is just some accounting procedure that kicked in that nobody thought about.

And if no insurance, the city typically goes to the transportee directly to recoup the funds. I bet this was just some automated system that sent a bill, and not the malicious doings of some dickhead city official.

Apparently, the president of the police patrolman association has said the Rice family should use that $6M settlement on education to teach people about the use of real and replica guns.

So, they escaped having to accept any responsibility for Rice's death, get the tax payers to foot the bill, and still manage to somehow blame Rice for his own death.
