overly themed cakes as a whole just aren't that appealing

imagine how many people at the wedding had no idea wtf the random ass writing on the cake was for. i wouldnt want to have to waste time during my reception explaining something that inane to my guests.

i dont see much difference conceptually with doing that vs doing something like

btw, http://wedinator.com/ is the win

"OMG! R U driving? Texting ban starts Tuesday
Posted: Nov. 29 2:44 p.m.
Updated: 41 minutes ago

RALEIGH, N.C. — Starting soon, North Carolina drivers who text behind the wheel will need to pull over to avoid fines.
Multiple media outlets report Saturday that the state's ban on sending text messages while driving goes into effect Dec. 1. Violations could cost drivers $100 in fines.
The new law makes it illegal to text or read any e-mail or text message while driving, and fines are higher for school bus drivers caught in the act.
But the law only applies to the driver while the vehicle is moving, not when it's stopped or parked. Police officers and other safety officials are also exempt."

what makes police officers and safety officials so special?

I guess technically that's not texting or emailing. not sure how the law is written though but I doubt they could prove you were doing it.

Actually, they probably can. Remember that train wreck a few months ago in California? The engineer was proven to be sending text messages before the crash, thanks to second-by-second records from the phone company.

What is the official law on the license plate frames? I have heard different things.

Some people say that as long as the tags and number are visible, then you're good. Others say that you have to be able to read North Carolina on the bottom as well. And I have even heard reports that you can't have them at all.

Anyone know for sure?

"New law puts restrictions on NC license plates

Posted: Nov 19, 2009 10:41 PM EST
Updated: Nov 19, 2009 10:41 PM EST
RALEIGH, NC (WMBF) - Beginning Dec. 1, a new law goes into effect that requires the state’s name across the bottom of the plate as well as the year and month stickers on a license plate to be fully visible.

They can no longer be partially covered by a license frame.

Vehicle owners can be cited for committing an infraction andafter fined $100 for the violation after Nov. 30.

The law was introduced in the 2009 session of the General Assembly and was supported by law enforcement officials because it increases the readability of registration information on the plates and helps identify vehicles registered in North Carolina."

My NC State frame partially covers up North Carolina on the bottom, but only partially. Is it worth the risk to leave it on?

I'd be chatting on the interweb;
maggots pray upon the living dead.
I had no interest in the things she said.
On the phone every day,
I'll permanently hit the hay hay.

I called her on the phone and she touched herself.
She touched herself. She touched herself.
I called her on the phone and she touched herself.
I laughed myself to sleep.

I heard on the radio that they will only be issuing warnings in December, but in January they are starting to write tickets.

I'm just going to take mine off I guess. I don't want to give them any reason to pull me over, and discover the pounds of marijuana I keep in my car at all times.

[quote]New license plate law to take effect

By Ely Portillo

Drivers in North Carolina who cover parts of their license plates could face tickets and fines under a new state law that goes into effect next month.

The law, passed by the N.C. legislature this year, requires that the state's name, year and month registration stickers be fully visible. Previously, they could be partially covered by license plate frames.

The measure was supported by law enforcement officials, who say it will make reading registration information and identifying vehicles easier in North Carolina.

Starting Dec. 1, drivers can be cited for an infraction if they cover the state name or registration stickers

Fines don't kick in until Dec. 2010, when the citations will start carrying a $100 penalty."
