WOW. My Wii just started working again after I had it unplugged and sitting around for almost a day.

Freaky man... and to think I almost lost it It better not happen again.

For the record: unplug your Wii when youre not using it, I will from now on.
The "sleep" mode still runs alot of the more heat producing components of the system and may cause your Wii to die like mine did *unless it comes back to life suddenly like mine did* I got through step 8 of the following : then I gave up. Magically, I come home from work and it works again....

sorry i don't keep up with every post you make el nacho

the game store here only orders a few games. a few of the games released in the past the guy at the store said they only ordered 2 or so more than they had pre-orders for.

so if you don't know, just say "i don't know" or don't reply at all.

But see the thing is...I do know.

Don't go to a "game store"

Go to a Best Buy. Or Target. Or Wal-mart. Or Circuit City.

Any one of those stores are better places to buy new games than EB/Gamestop. No pre-orders necessary.

it is fine you are a "wii gamer" as opposed to the hardcore gamer. im not ragging on you for that, cuz everyone likes something different. but you simply cant argue FOR ergonomics and AGAINST the 360 controller (not that the wii controller isnt ergonomic)

I've noticed the side of my Wii stays "warm" even when it is turned "off"... I'm going to start unplugging it as well.

ergonomics is a personal thing. the controllers simply don't fit my hand nor do the buttons make sense to me. if there are 2 joystick things, then i want them both at my thumbs. it's really weird to me for one to be up and the other to be down. it doesn't make sense. ps2 controllers are still the best out there to me, esp the mini ones. i just don't like the xbox360 controllers.

i haven't had any overheating problems and mine stays on all the time. it sits on the bottom shelf of the entertainment cabinet w/ the door cracked open. has anyone tried those cooling station things yet?

^huh? The PS2 controllers are so uncomfortable for that very reason that the joystick is down so that it cramps that left thumb. If that joystick is the primary tool for moving around it should be in the primary position of the resting spot for your thumb, in the upper corner. After 3 controller generation of this style they still haven't got it right. Which still remains the reason I won't own a sony game system because I can't play any of their daggum games. /rant.

Microsoft and Nintendo both got it straight ergonomics wise, but as you said it is somewhat of a personal thing, only to a certain point.

Personally, I love the DualShock controller design. I even picked up a knockoff of that style to use for my PC.

The only problem I have with Sony's controllers is that they're relatively cheaply made.

OMG I WANT ONE!!!

The ThinkGeek WiiHelm

Look Ma! No Hands!

The Nintendo Wii has surely revolutionized gaming as we know it. Rabid fanboys everywhere are now flailing their arms in delight as they wield the Wiimote as a tennis racket, baseball bat or sword. Problem is the average gaming geek is just not up to the strenuous task of vigorous arm movement for longer than 10 minutes. This makes those extended play sessions a thing of the past... and who wants to beef up at the gym just to play video games on your couch? We sure don't.

Fortunately for cream puffs everywhere the WiiHelm is now available at ThinkGeek. Simply lock your existing Wiimote into the stylish white helmet and free your hands for relaxation... or other important tasks. After extensive scientific study it was found that manipulating muscles in your neck for 10 minutes uses 64% less energy than waving your arms about like a lunatic. The WiiHelm works great with all of your favorite Wii games and the included foot pedal allows easy button presses using minimal toe effort. Plus the amazing Wiimote Saf-T-Lok technology and double reinforced head strap save you thousands of dollars in damaged flat-screen repair charges.

Important Note:
The WiiHelm does not include a Wii console or controller. You need to supply your own, or trade your PS3 for a Wii on eBay. Games requiring the Nunchuck are currently not supported by the WiiHelm.

Product Features

* Helmet based Wii Controller housing allows effortless handsfree game play
* Perfect for Wii sports and works with all your favorite Wii games*
* Frees your hands for other important tasks like eating, scratching, beer drinking, petting your dog or cat, nose picking and unwrapping birthday gifts
* 4 frontal LEDs illuminate your surroundings while gaming in the basement at 3 am
* Included Foot Pedals have all Wiimote Buttons, mapped to strategic toe areas
* No danger of throwing Wiimote into TV with the WiiHelm's Saf-T-Lok technology
* Includes: WiiHelm, Foot pedals, Cables, and Instruction Manual
* Manufacturer Limited Warranty: 1 year

A sequel to NIGHTS has been announced for the Wii. Pretty big deal considering what a cult following it has.

(this is reported by Famitsu, so it's not likely an April Fool's joke)

http://wii.ign.com/articles/777/777545p1.html

Star Fox 64 and TMNT (the first NES game, not the arcade port) are available on VC.

ultimate alliance was sort of blah to me. it seemed like the same thing over and over again...and when you play w/ 4 people and they're all running different directions, it's difficult.

I went to blockbuster and had a couple games to rent...only to find out at the counter that I needed a credit card on file to rent them...some new policy they have with new games...

I left, i'm not putting my credit card on file there. I just got a couple movies and left.

Blazing Angels is pretty interesting if you mess around with the control schemes for a while.

It's pretty fun, but the dialogue and storyline aren't great.

ok...

i officially will never play wii sports boxing again...

i cannot beat emma, her skill level is around 600 and she beats me everytime..

i can't figure out the control scheme to save my life. do you thrust the controllers forward, or do you sling them forward like a wand. screw it

My guess is that additional cost of reacquiring the TMNT license or working out a deal with Ubi Soft.

Uhhhhhh...if you're renting anything at blockbuster, you have to have a credit card on file, including movies. This shit ain't new either.

Nah, I've had my membership for about 12 years now and I've never had a CC# on file. Then again, I've never lost or returned anything late.

It has been fine until they issued a rule saying you can't rent new video games (360, PS3, Wii) without a CC on file.

I rented a couple movies instead.

Perhaps I've had the membership so long, I was grandfathered in when the new policy came out.
