^True, but I would think renting an NFL stadium would cost more and some of those games didn't draw large crowds. No one really cares about the Olympics, or Youth World Cups.

For a second I was like "WTF kind of bullshit retro roster is this?"

Anyway, that reminds me that Meola played the second half so he could get his 100th cap.

Sorry, I was Ribs for a second and saw it on twitter so I had to post it.

Alexi Lalas tweeted it, for what that's worth. So I went a-googling for more pictures and let me just say that close-ups don't make it any better either. Looks like some armor shit on the shoulders and those holes are just ridiculous.

It would look 10x better if they lost the sash. It's overkill.

Or the neck colors and sleeves.

Nike is an American company yet we seem to get shit jerseys.

We should just wear some neon shit like Oregon, Or matte black.

Both Barca and Arsenal have shitty new jerseys too though. There's a lot of hate for the United one too although I kind of like it

To be honest I kind of like those Arsenal jerseys with the sleeves. I don't see what all the fuss is about with those. Barca's just look like they want to be too futuristic with the design.

OMG that jersey is horrible! How does stuff like this get approved? This is the reason the USA is the laughingstock of international teams.

I like to hate on USSF but we've got a few things going for us...

We've been a hard working and resilient team that can grind out results against the big clubs over the last 10 years in international competitions, aside from when we rolled over to the Czechs. Hard not to pull for us as an underdog when we play like we do against Spain in CC, Italy in 06, etc. Biggest thing going for us is that we don't dive (most of the time) and/or bitch about everything like 99.9% of the world does.

I suppose a lot of people could not like the team because they don't like the United States for non-soccer related reasons.

[Edited on February 16, 2012 at 11:31 AM. Reason : USA #1]

i was excited to see this roster:

Goalkeepers (3): Tim Howard (Everton), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

Defenders (7): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Timothy Chandler (Nürnburg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City)

Midfielders (7): Michael Bradley (Chievo), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim)

Forwards (4): Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund), Edson Buddle (Los Angeles Galaxy), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)

then...we turned into total vaginas with this...

at least peckerman is nowhere to be found

Maybe that helps us in the court of public opinion, but it fucks us over as far as getting calls. 99% of the world does that shit because they get the calls.

fuck yes, just finished watching on dvr. Bradley is a boss, Dempsey is money, Lalas is an insufferable prick, and those are the worst jerseys in US Soccer history

also, our U-23s are beating Mexico 2-0 right now

^Sweet! Hoepfully they can get to the Olympics and get some experience since they failed to get to the U-20 World Cup. I think it helped that last cycle some of our younger players got to play in the U-20 World Cup, Olympics, and Confederations Cup together before playing in the World Cup.

Yeah, I didn't watch because I was watching the Italy game but apparently Agudelo/Adu/Gyau were legit as fuck.

I tried to watch the last 20 minutes but I had no lineup + no names on the back of the jerseys + Spanish commentary so I had no idea who was on the field.

Sorry, not related to US, but wasn't sure where to put this.

Apparently dude displaced 3 vertebrae and was unconcious, but the ref gave him a red-card for flopping, as he was being carried off on a stretcher.

I mean, if a team was coming out with the denim jersey now, I'd agree. But there were a LOT of ugly, loud jerseys being made in that time period so in context, it wasn't that bad.

I just noticed "world cup" jerseys so you right. I understand why they wanted to do something to stand out though. And honestly I'd prefer a really unique ugly jersey occasionally than generic cheap looking sash shit like we're getting.

The new jersey could be worse, it could be red with a the blue sash and white sleeves. To be honest though it doesn't really bother me. When I was watching them play yesterday I barely even noticed they had a new one on.
