i played paper mario for gamecube (thousand year door) and i didn't like it b/c of the turn-based RPG fighting...it got old really quick...

upon reading the review of the new paper mario, IGN says the new game does not have this turn-based fighting...

maybe i will try it out...

i'm going to get it. it plays more like a platformer than an RPG..which is a good thing for me..

the only RPG i've ever liked was Super Mario RPG on super nintendo... that game freaking rocks...

i dont get how you could like super mario rpg but not other rpgs. im sure if you looked a little harder you could find some more to your liking.

im sure itll be good either way and they said it was 15+ hours, so platformer or not it'll last a while.

I want to get SPM, but I have too many games as it is. I still haven't finished Zelda yet...I'm 45 hours in and near the final fight, but I want to complete all of the other side adventures before I beat the game. Still have about 18 bugs to find, probably 20 heart pieces, and need to beat the Cave of Ordeals (got 30+ levels in but didn't have time to finish).

Then my mom drops off SSX Blur and Tony Hawk for me that she got as part of a bundle she bought. SSX Blur is awesome but has a fairly steep learning curve, so I'm only a small part of the way through. Haven't really even touched Tony Hawk yet (didn't like it for the little bit I did play it).

So it might be a while before SPM ends up in my Wii...if Super Mario Galaxy doesn't beat it there first.

I just finished up chapter one and it's almost hard to even call this game an RPG. I wish they would have left in the turn-based and upgrade-able weapons/armor like most RPGs, but this is still fun.

The steering in SSX Blur takes a little OCD to get the hang of it. It took me a while to pass the first slalom. After enough obsessive-compulsion, I can hit every flag on all three slaloms easily. :brag:

SPM, I just got to chapter 1-2. As crazy as this game is, it most likely pales in comparison to the craziness that will be SMG.

i got SPM and played it for about a half hour (before the woman started complaining). i like it so far, but im not into in far enough to really have a good feel for the game.

the whole introduction sequence is pretty long, but once you get past that, you're golden.

ive never played any of the other paper marios, but this reminds me of regular mario, just with HPs and items.

got to chapter 2-2 last night, and i've been pleasantly surprised with the complexity of dimension switching puzzles so far.

not that anything has been terribly difficult, but with more pixels, things should get interesting

Yeah I almost gave up on slalom on SSX blur until I read online that someone suggested adjusting the steering so that you do it completely by tilting the nunchuck. After that, I practiced a few times and finished 1st pretty easily.

Originally my problem was that I was getting my whole arm into it while all it really takes is a flick of the wrist, side-to-side. Once I got the hang of it, it felt really intuitive.

i could see some people opting for it. its convinient to have web access on your living room tv if your computer is somewhere else in the house. i already have a pc thats dedicated to my tv, so i wont buy it (to be honest, i havent been too impressed with the web browsers capabilities), but im sure some people will want the feature.

im curious if its just going to be a one time fee or a monthly subscription.
