NC Central is out of the equation at this point

Right now it's between ECU and Shaw, with Shaw being in a very distant second

Wall was seriously debating a sex change when he was offered by those two, but opted out of it because the recovery time would keep him off the court for too long

i try to stay away from moral victory talk, but it's nice to know that we were at least in the running to land a top recruit

speaks volumes about our tradition, our facilities, our fans and our coaching staff

i have no doubt Sid and crew will land these type of recruits in the next few years and we'll be back where we belong...competing for the ACC crown year in and year out!!!

yeah, if you click on my fucking link it has a whole page of quotes and things about why he picked memphis...not just a few simple paragraphs.

oh, and btw. SI is not the most credible source regarding recruiting

SI article
Quote :
"Prep standout Cousins commits to Memphis

By Seth Davis, SI.com
Alabama prep standout DeMarcus Cousins has committed to Memphis, SI.com has confirmed.

Cousins originally committed to UAB, but backed out of that commitment when the school would not guarantee it would release him if coach Mike Davis left to take another job.

Cousins, a 6-foot-10 center from LeFlore High School in Mobile who is considered the top big man in the country, averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6.7 blocked shots this season."

SO article
Quote :
"Top unsigned high school senior big man DeMarcus Cousins has made his decision. While taking an unofficial visit to the University of Memphis this weekend, the Alabama native decided to commit to the Tigers, joining SLAM diarist Xavier Henry, Dallas-area guard Nolan Dennis and juco teammmates big man Will Coleman and wing Darnell Dodson in a strong class of 2009 recruiting class.

“Me and my family came to a decision after talking about it. We just thought it was the best place for me to be,” said Cousins this morning. “Everything about the school, the city, whole visit was impressive. I already liked Memphis, so the visit was just icing on the cake.”

Memphis is still in pursuit of John Wall, the nation’s top senior point guard. With seniors Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier graduating, along with the possibilities of junior Shawn Taggart and freshman Tyreke Evans leaving early for the NBA, Memphis will need to reload–as they did this season, after the departures of Derrick Rose, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Joey Dorsey–in order to keep their place among the nation’s elite college basketball programs.

“Winning a national championship, that’s my number-one goal [as a freshman next season],” stated Cousins. “Whatever Cal [Memphis head coach John Calipari] needs me to do, I’ll do it. However I have to fit in, I’m willing to do it.”

Expect Cousins, currently ranked second in the SLAM Fresh 50, to have a brief tenure at Memphis, as in one-and-done, if he plays up to his potential. A physical force in the paint, Cousins has a solid back-to-the-basket game, but is also capable of stepping out to hit mid-range jumpers consistently and put the ball on the floor well for a player of his size. In addition, he’s an excellent passer, both in the halfcourt and when making outlet passes to start the fast break, something Memphis excels at. If he commits himself to getting in tip-top shape and decides to dominate both ends of the glass, as well as providing a defensive presence at all times, his upside is as high as any player’s in the senior class.

Since he has all the tools to be an elite baller in the college game (and beyond), a motivator like Calipari and Memphis’ style of play should serve him well.

“He [Cal] just shoots straightforward with you,” said Cousins. “He’s a tough person, but also loves you and that’s what I was looking for.”

The Birmingham big man was once committed to UAB, but when he didn’t sign with the hometown Blazers in the fall, he re-opened his recruitment, despite pressure to stay home for college.

“It’s tough being in Alabama, but it’s gonna be good for me in the end,” commented Cousins. “It’s a new beginning with new people. I get to start all over.”

“I want to thank every coach that ever recruited me,” he continued. “And I want to give a shout-out to my mom and my whole family.”

Kudos to Coach Cal and his staff (nice job, Coach B) on pulling off quite the recruiting coup, albeit one that I personally expected to happen. Now, back to your regularly scheduled Sunday programming."

Top 10 probably. We'd probably fall right behind Memphis and be at the #9 spot, at least according to Scout's rankings. We are currently #20 in Scout's Top 25.

i think if anyone believed wolfpackhoops, it was just hopeless positivism. the site's unabashed homerism and numerous grammatical mistakes were enough to limit its credibility if not destroy it altogether.

2nd Half Slump Kills Pack; Miami Rolls 72-64

Quote :
"It wasn't a must win. Not too much was really on the line other than pride and another step up in the rankings. But it was seriously disappointing to watch the Pack, again, play such a passionate and hard fought first half, only to sleepwalk through the entire 2nd. There was actually a point where the Pack went over 12 minutes without a field goal."

"Lazy passes, bad shot selection, and careless play has been the recipe for disaster all year...as it was again last night."
"

Say what you like about the grammatical errors, typos, etc. Nevermind the fact that this is a BLOG. Why are you treating this site like it's a comprehensive news organization? They don't get paid (except for a miniscule amount from advertising) to do any of this. If they were claiming to be a great objective, professional voice of the Pack, THEN such criticism would be warranted.

And yes, it's ridiculous to insinuate that Wolfpackhoops.blogspot.com comes anywhere CLOSE to "homerism." The worst you can blame them for is being SLIGHTLY optimistic about our chances going into certain games or landing recruits. But their game summaries almost always "tell it like it is." If the team played badly, you don't see typical fan rants about the poor officiating - note how the Miami game recap didn't include anything about the questionable intentional foul.

The more Sports Talk treats State athletics like WolfpackHoops does... the better IMHO...
