^^^9-1-2 since cole has been back
and while the Cullen and Williams situation is different (yea my b....don't know what i was thinking there), i still say we should be patient with bringing him back. And actually our PP has been at 37% since Cullen has been out, which is pretty damn good...now I don't remember how pretty those PP's have been, but you can't argue with results
He's listed as a lower body injury....does anyone know what specifically happened?? The Washington game has been the only one I haven't watched pretty much all year 3/30/2009 12:53:26 AM |

honestly, i'd rather not win out and go into the postseason with 11 wins in a row.
i just have a feeling it wouldn't end well

Question for any CBA/contract buffs
If we sign Babchuk for one year, will he be an RFA come next off-season? According to nhlnumbers, he is 24, where Jokinen and Ruutu are both 25 and upcoming RFAs. I guess the fact that he missed a yearof NHL action probably doesnt hurt our cause either. 3/30/2009 9:50:33 AM |

27 years or 7 years in the league, whichever comes first.
Examples:
Chad LaRose: Only has 4 seasons in the league, but just turned 27 (3 days ago), so he will be an UFA. Tuomo Ruutu: Is 26 with 6 seasons under his belt, so this summer will be his last as a RFA Anton Babchuk: Turns 25 in May and will have 5 seasons under his belt, so anything more than a 1 year deal will take him past RFA eligibility
There is also group 6 UFA which allows borderline NHL players like Dwight Helminen to become UFAs without having to wait so long. 3/30/2009 10:14:43 AM |

ok phew, I feel better now. It'd be nice to get him locked up for a few years, but we will probably bargain-bin him for next year. 3/30/2009 10:23:20 AM |

Back to back weeks
Quote : | "RALEIGH, NC—The National Hockey League today named Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward its third star of the week for the period ending March 29. Ward posted a 3-0-0 record, a 1.33 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage in the Hurricanes’ three wins at Florida, against Ottawa and at New Jersey.
This marks the fourth time this season Ward has been named one of the league’s three stars of the week. He received third-star honors for the week ending Jan. 4, second-star honors for the week ending Jan. 25 and first-star honors for the week ending March 22. In 64 games this season, Ward has posted a 36-22-5 record and currently ranks third in the league in wins and tied for eighth in the league with five shutouts. He has started each of the Hurricanes’ last 24 games dating back to Feb. 7, and has posted a 16-6-2 record, a 2.31 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage in that span." |

I saw the rankings and was quite confused. Especially since the intro didn't mention anything about the Canes but puts them number 1. I know we're hot and technically power rankings are a measure of just how hot you are at the time, but I'd rather not have us at the one slot as cool as it is to see us in first again. I just hope we can keep this streak into the playoffs and never cool off as that'd be best, which is why I too hope we don't win out completely as the fear of burning out in the first round is way too high in me right now. 3/30/2009 2:33:03 PM |

Oh I know, but to be honest, I always felt the hockey news' were the most accurate a lot of weeks. TSN has a Pittsburgh obsession, so even when they were choking worse than us, they were ahead of us. I mean not that they mean anything, but I'm just saying, I like theirs the most some weeks. 3/30/2009 5:15:48 PM |

I have a group of friends that wants to go to the game tomorrow. We're dirt poor though, so we're hoping to get the $10 tickets.
What's the odds that there are even going to be some available tomorrow morning? I know the $25 dollar tickets may have already sold out, which means we're screwed. I couldn't find even a single $25 dollar ticket through ticketmaster, but I don't know how reliable they are.
We could care less if we end up sitting together...we just want to get in the game. 4/1/2009 5:38:11 PM |

I don't think he should make that much money($4 mill or whatever) IMO. He's definitely good, but not a huge game changer. Plus with the recession we might be able to get him for cheaper anyway. I'll be he wants to stay in Raleigh. 4/1/2009 5:38:28 PM |
