we did plan, we did show up early and we were not allowed in b/c the people running this show didnt know what fuck they were doing. there were several reports from trusted friends at the show saying how people were inside that didnt even have on bracelets.

we were next in the vip line before they pretty much said we were fucked and the show hadnt even started yet.

A friend I trust told me I'd be blown away by J. Roddy. He's got a lot of energy and the songs are decent, but it's not mindblowing stuff by any means. If you like the style, though, you'll enjoy it.

On the other hand, I have never not enjoyed something rich has told me I'd enjoy, so I suppose I'll be at Slim's tonight.

i can't remember if i told you specifically you'd enjoy it, but i'm excited to see midnight. it's pretty goofy, but it's pretty killer. first-wave black metal rock n punk or something... don't really know anything about hot graves, but they look like they could be good from youtube. i think cameron's band atrophix, may be opening, too. tight crust jams. dunno. should be a good thursday evening away from home.

What did you guys think of the Wild Flag show? I thought it was pretty decent. Best part for me was probably the encore when Missy Elly-ot came on, but Wild Flag had a few memorable things goin on before that; especially the one where the keyboard goes 'doot doot doot da doot doot doot doo da dooot dooot doot doot DOOT DOOT DOO DA DOOT DOOT DOO DA DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT DA DOOT DOOT DOOT DO DA...'

I'm really glad they played that Racehorse song differently than the one KNC likes to play all the damned time, because that song sucks.

I heard the sound at Kings for the War On Drugs was so fucking shitty, namely because two of the sound people were getting fucked up before and during the show, and without calling out names, can anybody confirm this?

Glad I didn't go, either way. Especially considering hearing the same song for an hour or so is not appealing.

I'm glad you said that, because it illustrates just how wildly off-base you are. The main sound man has been stone cold sober for many years.

There's also the matter of a band having a lot of influence in a room that size; any decent sized tube amp can overpower that room without the aid of the PA. In fact, the backline bass amp is never even run through the PA, because it's loud enough on 4 to fill the room without help. The soundman can't turn down or EQ stage output.

Uh if I'm off base on anything in what I said, it has to do with what component of what made it sound like shit, but the clear fact that you feel the need to explain it means you know at least something was wrong. I'm not trying to talk shot about kings and in fact I like the place. I'm just telling you what I heard and how unsurprising it was to hear it.
