Brakks way of hinting at the basketball program getting involved with the investigation?

Someone suggested it means bball is involved, but Brakk said wrong sport. Apparently Willie Parker is an Octagon client. Chris Hawkins is his 'manager.'

They might have to give up some wins from when Willie Parker played for UNC

except he never played, and they won about 2 games a year while he was there, so meh

are people still listening to these PP characters?
there's nothing "biblical" about the last week and i don't see much of anything happening right now either. we're a delusional group of hopeful lunatics, but this is getting ridiculous now.

RT @AaronAloysius: Sources tell Tony Pauline that the NCAA is in Chapel Hill right now investigating Robert Quinn.

I'd say now it's kind of death by a thousand cuts while details trickle out. But when the final NCAA report is given, the punishment should be pretty damn severe once you combine academic issues, druggie/agent benefits, recruiting violations, and the list seems to be growing.

I think this sums it up well:

i want the hammer to come down like nobody's business as well, but how do we know these "insiders" on PP aren't just IC plants like we do to them? Cuz i was seriously losing sleep and productivity looking for apocalyptic happenings last week. Im just gonna wait until JPG posts something.

I tend to think the PP "insiders" are mostly guessing/speculating. Sort of like how a fortune teller reads your future. Be vague, something's bound to be right, especially considering that every few days or so something new seems to be coming up.

Did I mention that I have inside sources? I hear that within the next week something big is going to be announced...

Really. If anything the news seems to be getting better for UNC. They cleared one of their RBs.

butter fingers being cleared means nothing. we all knew they were going to be using rolling suspensions across the season. strategically taking players out for some games and letting them play others.

i'm surprised butch hasn't reinstated the entire team honestly. the entire season will be full of losses or wins(later vacated). for a douche fuck like butch, the second option is a legitimate one.

Brakk and WaffleIron have some history of being correct ahead of time if you go bag and slog through the 8012 50-page threads on PP about the investigation, there's a sum-up somewhere near the end of the current thread. I can accept that they have to be vague to some degree to keep them/their source from getting outed. I can also accept that they say something really bad is going down, and then we don't see anything happen in the next few days. The NCAA isn't working on internet time, and they aren't going to publish any findings until they are all done. Doesn't mean that something bad wasn't uncovered.

The alleged meaning behind Brakk's 'Octagon' is that someone on the FB team had a parent get a job for a commitment. Similar to the Forte thing. Allegedly.

so far, yeah

They only had one week to get kids cleared for the LSU game and they got 3 out of 16, two more weeks pass and they only get 1 more cleared?

I was curious on their credibility about this thing (brakk, etc). Here is a summary:

Quote :
" 0newolf wrote: I don't mean to be a big nattering nabob of negativity here... but just to help me understand the source of all the credibility these guys (braak, waffle, s8) have earned, can someone give me a quick review of the things they have successfully predicted and then actually happened so far?

There is literally over 400 pages of threads in the archives on this. But with some skimming here are some highlights. The original Joe Schad bomb announcing the "probe" was July 15.

Some sports agent blog on July 16 said 13 players were interviewed. This was disputed for a long time (for months it was just Little and Austin)

On July 18 in the "NCAA investigations, opinion, humor thead, Brakk gave us this nugget, which was certainly big news at the time..."Seems like a certain Jr DE might also be caught up in Bewbeegate. It seems like maavalous mavin has swept up quite a few other playas in this and the fallout is going to be pretty big."....(that must be Quinn)

The next day, July 19, we got the first really big bomb from Aaron Wilson of the National football post. Everyone in baby blue was ready to sue that guy for lying, but it's pretty amazing that most everything in that article has pretty much happened. Plus his post is the first mention of Chris Hawkins being "heavily involved".

WaffleIron's first big bomb was in the "NCAA investigating UNC football (Stewart Mandel tweet on page 10))" thread.....this was fairly accurate, and much different than what was out there at the time. Plus, it's his first mention that John Blake is in deep:

Austin, Little, and Sturdivant are the guys taking stuff from the runners. UNC has no choice from what my buddy said.Because if "anybody" plays this year that has even taking a dime from an agent then the ncaa will come down harder and vacate wins this year.UNC has to be pro-active and let these guys go and punish themselves. If they lie or try and cover it up the ncaa will smack them down. Loss of scholarships, postseason ban, etc. Funny part is my guy says that unc could still win the acc without these guys. They think theyve got that much talent and depth THIS year. We'll see. Still cant believe that the media hasnt dug up anything on the Corey Miller facebook deal....the real dirt is with John Blake...this agent deal isnt much compared to what that guy has done.

On July 22, Aaron Wilson of the National Football post then starts to mention Quinn. Also, now called Hawkins a "central figure in the investigation"

Out of order here, but when there were rumors that this thing was just going to be Austin only, on July 20 WaffleIron dropped this nugget in a thread called "WRAL:NFP:Auston may be suspended":
Little has NOT been cleared. Thats a thread started by a unc student whom is trying to spin the damage and temper the message board mess. UNC is in alot of trouble.

But WaffleIron's first major bomb was on July 28 in the "version 2" thread. At the time, media and most speculation was that this was Austin only, and maybe Little. His 5 part bomb included:

1. John Blake isnt going to survive this.
3. 6 or more players will be suspended for the LSU game.
5. This isnt ending soon......more as if comes, but probably no earth shattering news to come until its announced that the NCAA is back on UNC's campus for a second time.

Now all of three of those were completely opposite of common thought at the time. Blake wasn't mentioned in any of this until the August 9 bomb was dropped by Yahoo sports. Interesting, Waffle had this to say on August 3 in the "version 3" thread:
Then why are the National guys and some random beat writer for the Baltimore Ravens breaking all the news? I would guess that the local guys "sources" on these issue are within the SID dept at chapel hill and IC guys arent really "unbiased" as you would say. If they actually did some "digging" there's a story to be had. They just dont care and wish it would just go away. That's obvious to anyone thats lived here for a decent amount of time. Ive not seen JOHN BLAKE's name mentioned in one local or state article since this story broke. Thats mind boggling.

Also, the thought of 6+ players out for LSU was jaw dropping at the time. Plus, I don't think anyone thought that the NCAA would be coming to UNC for more than one visit, but it's been widely reported that they've been at least two times, and I believe more than that.

Anyway, of course, I don't know these people at all, so I'm just organizing information here, but back in late July, when most reasonable thought was that this was limited to only 1 or 2 players, they were confident that there was a whole lot more to it, and obviously, in the almost two months that followed, things have played out much closer to their line of thought."

Doyel is paid by CBSSports.com to be a douche bag troll. He has done it to every fanbase. The thing is people hoping he lose his job are the ones helping keep it by responding to it. I wouldn't classify him as a journalist as much as he is a Columnist. He writes an opinion piece for a website and gets paid for it. He is a professional Troll.

But his responses were funny to the ones posted.

From: Bill Leslie, WRAL, Raleigh

I'm a journalist like you -- and I am offended by your reckless article on UNC football. They are doing their best to clean things up. It's the first black eye in recent history. You should cut them a little slack.

Doyel: I know who you are, Bill -- don't put yourself in the same category with me. You're a shameless homer."

Your a respected journalist and you are getting into an argument with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I hate Doyel, but he has a point. You are a shameless homer, and you are letting your baby blue glasses get in the way of your journalistic integrity. Its embarrassing for all of our local media when you are constantly getting out scooped by the likes of ESPN and Yahoo on an issue that is happening in your back yard.

The only one of you who has done anything worth a damn in regards to this story is JPG. I used to have a lot of respect for our local media; this story may change that opinion soon.

Step your game up and stop crying like a baby. "

Anyone else feel like we should flood Leslie's inbox just because he sounds like a douche?

HERE'S THE THING

I don't give two shits WHO does the reporting so long as it's reported on.

As long as UNC falls into a pit of total despair over this, I couldn't care less if Osama Bin Laden and The Puppy Killing Girl from Overseas conducted the telecast.

Apparently Chris Hawkins (former UNC DB who bought A.J. Green's jersey and is otherwise involved in the investigation) is facing cocaine trafficking and marijuana possession charges in NC:

basically UNC had agents pay players and give them gifts...also a tutor that Butch knew wrote some term papers for athletes

but seriously, if you have 2 hours to kill, this thread is easily Sports Talk thread of the year, hands down...its worth reading if you hate UNC

It's 2 pages of real discussion and 72 pages of whishful thinking. But the 2 pages of discussion are scattered amongst all 74 pages. Might not have the same effect reading it now as reading it as the thread developed.
