What if he never became Reek in the book? Why are we assuming that's in the book at all?

Personally I didn't feel it was rushed. It's a TV show and it happened between seasons. Time passes, we don't see anything

5^ I have never read 1 single page of any of the books and I haven't read any spoilers, and I'm not sure why you're caught up with thinking I did. I have 3 friends who have the book, 1 read the first book and stopped, the other 2 have read more but don't watch the show(they accidentally spoiled "The Red Wedding" for me and since then I don't talk to them about the show/books).

The show is heavy-handed with some of these things, that's not my fault that I watch them and pay attention. Before they showed the previews for the next episode I assumed Tyrion would pick either Jamie or Bronn when he requested the Trial By Combat, but when they showed The Mountain I figured it would make more sense to pick Oberyn, not really sure why anyone would have to read the books to make that prediction. And it's just a prediction, I liked some of the other predictions/questions people posed, including Oberyn not being allowed to fight because he's a judge, would make total sense as it was on the same footing as my assumption that Jamie wouldn't be allowed to fight because he's a Knight.

3^ Pretty much everything from the show I assume is in the books since I've never read them. I was under the impression the show was following pretty much right along with the books where as a show like The Walking Dead is a much looser interpretation(I have indeed read all of The Walking Dead) and they add stuff from the video game and make up new characters and such. Perhaps GoT is like that but I was under the impression it was being pretty faithful to the books.

2^ I mean yeah, perhaps it was longer than 2 weeks, it just seemed like a shorter stint on the show but the way they jump around from story-to-story perhaps more time passes than I give it credit for. Just seemed odd to me that a guy who was leading an army and so self-confident fell apart just because he got tortured and had his junk cut off. If it was indeed longer then I could see it, just when watching the show it seemed like a matter of 2-3 weeks.

In my opinion, the books were not even close to being as heavy-handed as the show is at times. However, I have watched the show from the beginning already knowing the story from the books so that changes my perspective in terms of being truly objective in that observation. Additionally, it's just a different medium. You see almost everything on TV versus limited perspective in the book.

Regardless there are several instances where the show just flat out tells you things that the books "showed" but didn't "tell"

I really didn't think anyone avoided the previews for the next episode that watched it on HBO(figure most torrents wouldn't have the previews though) but wasn't sure if HBO Go had the previews or not.

Interesting. While the previews are made to divert or confuse the viewer, I feel that the previously scenes help me jog my memory when watching the episode.

Also I would mute through the previous scenes in BSG because of this. BUt I don't think GoT is as bad

but, I hate the previews.

Tyrion's lines are so awesome. Loved the one to Jamie that was like "you could kill your king, lose your hand, and fuck your sister and father would still love you" or something to that effect. I also liked the exchange with Bronn and how Tyrion about cried when Oberyn said he'd be his champion. That dude can act.

Props to you all for calling the Mountain vs. Oberyn thing. I wonder if he'll actually kill him though, kinda seems like the set up for the Hound to have something to do with it later on.

Tyrion's scenes this year have been incredible. Especially the last several: the trial, bronn and tyrion and oberyn and tyrion. It was so hard to watch bronn basically tell tyrion he is on his own, that he won't be getting any help from him. And to have oberyn come in later and have the conversation like he did with tyrion, that was just incredible.

i dont see the mountain going down. he's supposedly the baddest mfer on the planet, plus they keep hinting that the hound will eventually have a brother battle. so my money is on gregor. but i just can't see them killing tyrion. so i don't know how this thing is gonna go down.

i hate that we have to wait two weeks.

If this wasn't based on a book my immediate thoughts would be why keep a character whose actor has changed 3 times and had like 5 lines throughout this story while killing one who's been very interesting so far

Sho do, although I haven't hung out with her in person in a few years (she moved to California in 2009). We still keep in touch on FB though. Her hair wasn't pink (and the rat tail thing wasn't there) when I last saw her, but it was still short and kind of buzzed on the side.

Although don't worry, ever since she started the CBG19 stuff she's had her share of stalkers, especially when she goes to conventions.
