Makes no sense unless dd was already running the offense. Offense was our one bright spot.

Gonna be real awkward when he accepts the ECU head coaching position and then beats us in week 2 next season.

Lol

This at least shows that DD is starting to catch heat from Yow. It also shows clowns like Earl that everything is not okay in the program and we are not right on plan in terms of becoming a decent football team.

^^Thats a funny narrative considering we were a high powered offense this year. i could see if it was huxtable but on the surface this would all seem to me like guys are just leaving for better jobs because our offense was so good.

I mean we scored with ease against two of the best defenses in the country...without our two best players. Thats on the staff.

Eh, our defense performed up to, maybe even a little better, than expectation, save for maybe the UNC and Miss. St. games.

Our offense under-performed almost the entire season. Our passing game was painful to watch most of the season after hearing all offseason that Brissett had worked on his deep ball and we were going to work on stretching the field. Would it have killed Canada to work on throwing a few slant passes here and there?

New OC will be brought into run the spread. Will be interesting to see our adjustment based on pieces we have in place. I think running the spread will def. help McClendon, and will actually work better with our current WR core, but do worry about our OL.

-3rd in the conference in points per game behind arguably the two most high octane teams in the whole country.
-most points scored against the best team in the country all season
-3rd most points scored against the best defense in the country all season

all this while everyone knew the run was coming with 3rd 4th and 5th string backs and they still couldn't stop it. thats a pretty badass offense.

its bizzarre how you people base things solely off emotions. if we don't score enough to win you will always say its because of offense even if the defense is letting the other team score on almost every possession.

if we had bc's defense, we would be undefeated EASILY and everyone would be talking about how canada is the genius of our time with the same exact results from him.

Well, one thing that I noticed all year was that we had zero quick slants in the offense. Our o-line was not great at protecting Brissett, and I never saw a quick slant thrown to slow any pressure. It showed against MS State, along with how far we along with the rest of the country are behind the SEC west in the trenches. Our lines got WHIPPED!

We scored 3 less points on them than bama did.

those defensive numbers don't look as good when you look at adjusted stats....the total defense stats are kinda misleading given our schedule this year.

yes...the #1 team in the nation that has put multiple WRs in the NFL over recent years vs the 7-6 team that has not put a WR in the NFL recently. call it whatever you want or interpret it any way...he's not wrong in what he's saying.

Right and actually our offense was even worse given the 4 cupcakes. Honestly don't think Huxtable's coaching/style/calls are the problem. The 4-2-5 is bad and we have 0 linebackers worth a damn and 1 good cover corner in Burris.

Troy Vincent Jr. left the program. 4* recruit who couldn't get PT.

The #1 and #6 defenses in the nation qualify as cupcakes because we had the same sort of prolific output against them.

you kinda answered your own complaint there. it doesn't matter if you're in a 4-3 or 4-2-5 or anything else if you have 0 linebackers

I think he means just receivers and not general players. We're known for producing NFL-quality quarterbacks and a range defensive players. Since 2012, we've sent 3 defensive backs, 2 linebackers, and 2 defensive linemen to the NFL. Only offensive players were 2 QBs and 1 WR (T.J. Graham). Last WR we had drafted before that was Cotchery in 2004.

Nobody wants that Tennessee garbage. UT football is just as big a joke as the wolfpack now. Sorry but the glory days are over. We dont need to add the loser parade, we need to hire winners who like eastern style bbq, and not that western style syrupy garbage.

So I'm curious.....

With all the staff firings, does that mean that this program was headed in the right direction these past three seasons? Letting go of personnel seems like an odd thing to do for a program that was supposedly trending upward, no?

Its very odd and new staff won't be an eligible excuse if we don't continue to trend up the next 2 seasons.

think you could spin it either way. 1) doeren realized his seat was heating up and is doing this to try to save his job or 2) doeren thought the offense had reached its ceiling under canada and thought we could do better. scenario #2 isn't really admitting that we were heading in the wrong direction. just not really doing it fast enough, or realizing our potential. scenario #1 would definitely fall into the category you mentioned.

however, you said "with all the staff firings"...let's be honest, that's overstating things a bit. the OC and the strength coach were canned. strength coach, while surely an important job, isn't exactly the guy you fire to save your job.

Yes, it's very odd to insist on fixing something that wasn't broken.

It's the kind of general malaise that only the genius posses, and the insane lament.
