ok, so apparently ive uncovered the infamous "zelda cannon glitch" in twilight princess.
after finding the cannon to go to the Sky Palace, I saved the game and stopped playing. When I returned to play it, i found myself in an impossible situation. i can not leave the room because that guy keeps telling me to do something with the cannon, however, he no longer exists in the room. the room is empty. when i try to warp out, minda won't let me because i cant transform into a wolf because she says someone is in the room. so im stuck. apparently other people have found this glitch as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkB53h2M5Pw
so after 40 hours of play, i can't do anything. ive heard that you can contact nintendo and send in your zelda disc and get a new fixed copy, but i havent heard back from them yet.
so morale of the story: save your game often and under multiple save slots, AND DONT SAVE AND STOP YOUR GAME IN THE ROOM WITH THE CANNON

Ditto with the working ppl in here. It is the classic nintendo way of things that the most anticipated games are spaced out over a broad time period and the games in between are usually insufficient filler. Notice that many of these games are recreations of nintendo classics (mario / zelda / etc) and they have complete control on the supply/time flow of them to maximize hype/profit because nintendo owns lisences on them. Though PS and Xbox seem to be able offer more timely quality titles, they are that way because of recent monetary success that Nintendo has not shared (until just recently) and the fact that they do not have a self-liscenced titles mario/zelda/etc that they can expect to bank on with every system (crash bandicoot sucked, though you could argue on behalf of Halo/GodofWar/etc). So that begs to question if Nintendo will use this recent success to bolster its software lineup like PS/Xbox or if they will continue to operate by their "quality over quantity" mantra they have been claiming since the N64 days and stick to their guns with the big hitting classics. Sega is a great example of how sticking to your guns (sonic/etc.) and not satisfying the demand can take you down, but Nintendo has continued to survive (and recently thrive). As cryptic as they are about their future production and looking at the way in which they are reacting to recent success, I would infer that they plan on sticking to their guns. Don't hold your breath with them unless you are ready to turn purple.....

I don't know...it looks cool, but the motions seem a little bit to exaggerated. Don't get me wrong, I love playing wii sports with huge movements as much as the next guy, but this looks like it could get tiresome. 4/24/2007 2:16:42 PM |

I would assume it's just like wii sports, in that a small wrist motion would be just as effective as a big sweeping one. The exaggerations were probably purely for show. 4/24/2007 2:28:20 PM |

BeerzNBikes, do you just make things up as you go along?
Quote : | "Though PS and Xbox seem to be able offer more timely quality titles, they are that way because of recent monetary success that Nintendo has not shared (until just recently)" |
On the Sony side (PS), what type of crack are you smoking? Sure, PS2 was a success, but Sony is knee deep in debt. They had monitary success with the PS2, but not with their company. Their whole company is depending on the success of the PS3 now (and Bluray to a lesser extent).
On the Microsoft side, Gamecube only sold like 10% less than XBox did. However, Nintendo made profit on their consoles (as opposed to taking a $100 hit a pop ala XBox), charged higher licensing fees to 3rd party companies, and their sales were predominantly first party meaning they kept most of the profit off games. They also had the GBA and DS which are insane money makers. The XBox was supposed to be a step to their next system and was never intended to make profit (and didn't make much). When it comes to "monetary success" from the last generation, you can't even compare the two because Nintendo burned the hell out of Microsoft.

I can name more Nintendo franchises that got created in the past 10 years than I can name Sega franchises period. Nintendo's issue is that they don't appeal to 3rd party companies, and they don't try as hard to.
You keep comparing Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo like they are all the same, because they are not. Microsoft and Sony have other businesses that help keep them fueled. Microsoft would flinch if the XBox 360 bombs, but Nintendo cannot afford for their new flagship console to bomb. They HAVE to keep the hype alive and HAVE to make as much $$$ as possible at all times. These consoles and portables are their only source of revenue.4/24/2007 4:52:18 PM |

^8 Nintendo would still make money hand over fist if their main console flopped, most of their money comes from portables, and has for a long while.
I'm almost convinced that their home consoles are testing platforms for what they want to put in their next handheld.
Don't be surprised if the successor to the DS has built in motion sensors.

CapnObvious, Im sorry if I upset you: really.
Quote : | "Nintendo's issue is that they don't appeal to 3rd party companies, and they don't try as hard to." | That pretty much sums up your points and I agree with you completely.
I just wanted to respond to the ppl on here who are moaning about lack of titles with a bit of history. Yes you are right that in the great monetary scheme of things, Nintendo is not directly comparable to the other two big 3 console players. All i wanted to do was compare quantity of titles for their systems in the past 6-8 yrs. Lets refrain from the corporate $$ comparison alltogether: its too complicated.
Nintendo : quality over quantity mantra Sony / MS : Pump out titles. Woo the 3rd parties. Some of them are bound to sell well.
So dont expect the number of titles for Nintendo platforms like you would from Sony/MS. (There is also a software/development/coding thing that makes it easier for 3rd parties to go with Sony/MS)
That is all Have nice day....

Nah, I'm not offended. There are just too many people that act upon the assumption that all three companies are similar enough to operate the same, but they can't.
That being said, the cannon glitch sounds like the worst possible thing ever. I'm glad I'm the type of person who saves only in towns out of RPG habit. 4/25/2007 1:43:21 PM |

I played the arcade games, they're a nice distraction. In general, I find SPM only slightly engaging. The platforming ain't that great and it's way too easy. The characters aren't as interesting as I expected either. They're just interesting enough not to be boring, but not interesting enough to pull me into the game. 4/25/2007 6:33:11 PM |

Nintendo said they would ship out 14 million (I guess this means worldwide) In 2007, they have already sold 5.8 million.....so its time for the economists to get out their supply/demand curves and figure out if this is going to be enoug. Seems to me that 14 million might not be enough to be able to see these things on shelves by next xmas, especially when you spread those out over australia/japan/eurpope/north america. just doesn't sound like enough. 4/26/2007 5:39:58 PM |
