I always thought this too, though I still can't figure out if Glenwood changed or if I changed.
My weekend: nothing Friday, then Saturday is HP8, Red Lobster, Wild Wing, then probably a hangover on Sunday.7/15/2011 10:10:06 AM |

^^ ahhhh very good point. i bet it's a little of both. i think the clientele has changed but i also think that when i want to go out, i prefer to go to more casual laid back places than when i was younger.
but hey, as long as Glenwood South is still marketed as a college/post-college place to hang out, that's great for me because I have a condo in that area and I find that renting it out to 23-24 year olds seems to work in my favor

I've always been like that. I think being off the market relationshipwise helps too. You deal with crowds and asshats at the meat markets of glenwood south, but you have more opportunities of meeting someone. Give and take there. But I've always preferred a place where I can sit down, get service before my beers been empty for 15 minutes, and hear myself talk.7/15/2011 10:17:25 AM |

yes it is. it changed ownership either late last year or the beginning of this year. i don't know if you frequent it a lot but the bartender Michael (tall, dark curly hair....hair used to be long and in a pony tail but he chopped it off a couple of years ago) owns it now and they're apparently doing very well. they started adding different wine and liquor tastings monthly that people can sign up to do. 7/15/2011 10:48:01 AM |

Tomorrow: Greensboro Beerfest? Still up in the air on that.

Probably staying in tonight, though it depends on if some friends I don't hang out with too often are up to anything. Tomorrow playing some Par 3 at Knight's Play with a big crew and then hopping aboard the Party Bus tonight for my friend's wife's 30th birthday. Not sure what all of our destinations will be but it's sure to be a crazy night Sunday I'll be at the pool as long as the weather and my (potential) hangover agree. 7/15/2011 12:12:01 PM |

Haha I know right. I never even went there when I was single but we're going with a big group of girls with ages ranging from 21-30 so I think it will work out okay. And it will be something new for me at least. 7/15/2011 12:14:26 PM |

There are plenty of quality places on Glenwood South. And if you want to avoid the whole Metrosexual/Jersey Shore/Cougar crowd there are still plenty of choices to chose from. 7/15/2011 12:32:00 PM |

big fat fucking L.O.L.
you only say that because you still enjoy frequenting places like Lucky B's and 606 (or whatever the hell it's called now).
Quote : | "Tobacco Road and Hibernian are probably the only places I really enjoy on Glenwood at this point." |
i wouldn't even put Hibernian on the list anymore - unless it's a week night. sometimes that place can get a little douchey.
what i would like to know about Glenwood is when in the hell did it become King Street a la Myrtle Beach? It's like impossible to get through that area on the weekends. too much traffic.7/15/2011 1:25:40 PM |

I went to Lucky B's a lot when I was 21 because a lot of my friends always went there.
I really can't say that I ever once had fun there. I guess if paying $3.50 for a Bud Light and watching people sing along to Living on a Prayer and Build Me Up Buttercup every week is your idea of fun then go ahead. The only places on Glenwood I don't mind are Tobacco Road and Natty Greenes(when it's not super crowded). Napper Tandy's has to be the worst bar ever.
this weekend: working the door at Neptune's tonight, working tomorrow, working Sunday. fun.
