apparently i was the last to hear, but there's a new build of 3.0 that came out today.
just installed it on my phone, and it's MUCH better than the first build. waaaay faster, and having an exchange push account set up doesn't cripple your phone!
they also got rid of the problem where you couldn't change the autolock time from 1 minute, and you can change the "require passcode" time to up to an hour.
so far, i'm happy. 4/1/2009 12:52:55 AM |

yeah i used it yesterday for directions...clicked the app, said 1506 trail way drive cary nc or something like that, found it on the first try, clicked the resulting map and bam i got it in google maps without having to type address in. i guess we'll see if im still using it in a month, but so far it looks pretty cool.4/1/2009 12:25:26 PM |

Yeah, Apple really wants to emphasize the "touch" aspect, rather than adding buttons...they're not trying to directly battle the PSP and DS as much as they're going after the mobile phone gaming market.
But I still want a tangible button peripheral. 4/1/2009 5:00:01 PM |

THIS JUST IN: pandora over A2DP is fucking amazing.
notice the little bluetooth icon beside the volume slider (it appears they just made this part of the control in the SDK, so all apps should work with A2DP without any additional code)
this is what you get when you press it:
note the Motorola S9-HD selected
this setting also appears to stay static until you change it or you go out of range/turn off the headset, so system sounds and everything else comes over the headset!
audio quality is about as good as it gets for A2DP in its present implementation. sounds like a normal pair of $30 earbuds. i had it in my front pocket all day and only heard the signal fade a few times, it appears the transmitter is quite capable of doing this, unlike a lot of bluetooth devices i've used.
apple did this right.] 4/1/2009 9:28:46 PM |

Not sure if this has been talked about in here yet..
Quote : | " | | | iPhone Firmware 3.0
Firmware 3.0 was introduced to the world including countless features that users have been demanding since day one like copy & paste, spotlight, MMS (with video), landscape keyboard layout for emails and txts, 3G tethering, stereo bluetooth, turn by turn, and many more. Apple has listened and is finally providing everyone with the basic features that every other smartphone phone manufacturer has been offering the entire time with the first beta - and adding push in the second beta. With the excitement of 3.0, many early adopters started upgrading. Unfortunately for those not participating in the iPhone Developer Program many iPhones were left unable to be activated. In response, many participants of the program have been selling spots in their accounts to allow iPhone activation on firmware 3.0.
Firmware 3.0 wasn't out long before it started to be hacked. The Dev Team announced almost immediately that they had jailbroken 3.0. Tethering was enabled, allowing 3.0 users to tether via both cable and Bluetooth. Finally, a Russian hacker released a beta 3.0 jailbreak to the masses. |
