UNC athletes never had to worry about attending classes before or after the game.

pretty certain that if UNC claimed they were unable to make it to Raleigh for a game we'd be saying the same shit.

Again I say, I know more about the conditions on campus as I was there. It was a fucking disaster area. The roads were a parking lot and 54/15-501 was littered with stuck and abandoned cars. MLK was a nightmare near the CHPD station with dozens of cars, buses and police cars stuck. It was so fucking bad that Chapel Hill Transit closed down ALL of their bus routes and said they would not run for the game. Yet Duke was supposed to load up its team, players and fans and drive through this nightmare of underprepared roads and idiot drivers to make it to the Dean Dome? Seriously? Meanwhile they emergency shutdown campus at 2 pm and called off work for today at like 4 pm. I seriously wondered what the fuck the thought process was for UNC athletic department to say they were still going to hold the game and have people, including Duke, on those terrible roads after midnight.

I bet some big donors for the rams club couldn't make it to the game and made a couple phone calls. Does anyone think their wine and cheese crowd would miss their super bowl?

I can't even begin to imagine what the press would be like if that game went on against better judgement and something tragic happened to a fan coming to or leaving the game. They would have been roasted beyond belief.

Despite what UNC fans want to believe it was 100% the right call.

I can't even believe it was up for discussion. It would have been incredibly irresponsible to play that game given the conditions of the roads in and around the Durham and chapel hill areas. What a bunch of fucking loonies over there on IC.

No rational person would be saying that. Did you see the videos of I-85 and the Durham Freeway? it was literally a parking lot for hours and hours. Cars that were fortunate to make it to their ramps couldn't get up them (and that was when it was still daylight). The conditions couldn't have been much worse than they were. It would have been stupid to hold the game.

I think a fair complaint would be the Dookies waiting until very late to call the game off. They could have said they couldn't make it earlier in the day couldn't they?

The ACC needed to make that call, not Duke.

That is true. And I'm not sure why UNC was so active in announcing the game was still on when they knew of all the chaos on the roads and that travel was close to impossible. This was handled poorly, I'm not sure who the blame really falls on.

That's true. The game should've definitely been called off earlier. But was it really Duke's call? They could've planned better....but UNC was just as complicit in saying over and over that the game was still on

I want to believe that the decision by Duke to not travel to Chapel Hill was made for safety reasons alone, but there is absolutely zero chance they didn't think about the competitive aspect as well. I was disappointed.

First off, i'll like to state that i always anticipate the Duke Vs UNC games as its always a win-win situation as i get to see either one of these assholes lose. But, with that being said it would of been pure comedy if this game actually happened, i mean it would make both of these schools look like laugh stocks putting a fucking BB game over citizen's safety. NC is not equipped to deal with snow, which is evident by people losing their minds driving when snow is on the road.

How? Get there early and HOPE they make it back? If anyone would of got injured Duke would probably be facing their biggest scandal since the Lacrosse rape allegations.

This guy is a quintessential UNC grad. Of course the roads are empty you dumb fuck, that's because everyone raced to get home. If the game were to happen does he really think things would've been as simple ?

^Agreed. With no Tar Heel Express shuttle people would have been trying to find anywhere to park around campus, or park at those far out lots and walk in. I live near the Jones Ferry Park & Ride lot and I walked from campus, so you could probably make the hike in a little over an hour. It would have been a fucking traffic nightmare. Add to that all these people wandering around on largely undefined roads and the possibility of people being hit goes up exponentially. Then on top of that throw a bunch of students waiting in line to maybe get a free seat. It would have been a cluster fuck.

That was my point...nothing Duke could've done would've changed the fact that game was going to be postponed.

I dunno. Safety actually was jeopardized because they waited too long to postpone it. And nobody seems to be all that outraged.

I think it's fucked up. People really inconvenienced themselves, and then they didn't even play the game.

It's possible that Duke expected UNC* not to be fucking morons and call the game off themselves, since it was being hosted in Chapel Hill. UNC* is too fucking stupid to do the right thing, as they've proven time and time again in the AFAM debacle, so Duke had to step up and actually do it for them.

Soo, Duke should risk life and limb, driving a bus on snow and ice-covered roads, just to amuse this guy, who is apparently stupid enough to get in his car and make the same trip. got it.
