I work in TV and deal with spots (commercials) so we have deadlines at noon everyday. On the weekends we have to have the logs set for Saturday, Sunday, & Monday which means we do extra work on Thursday and Friday.

Some weeks it can be slow, but folks have until noon to get orders in to place their spots. Now we're in a political season which means we not only have national advertisers, but also politicians trying to get spots on for the weekends.

Its just really crazy on Fridays, so we (really I) try to be considerate of my coworker and not take off unless I really have something important going on. Otherwise I will schedule it for a Monday when things are a little slow.

My other gripe is...if you really are taking off to get ready for a yard sale, DON'T TELL ME THIS SHIT and then back it up with "My weekends are so busy". I plan to do that kind of stuff on the weekends...maybe I'm cray, but I probably wouldn't be as pissed off.

Eh I kinda like having a job where I am actually needed and if I am not here then it actually matters. I never have to work OT or weekends or really anything extra. If I was in a job where no one really cared or noticed that I was gone I would just start to assume when budget cuts come I will be expendable haha.

I have no problem getting time off for things I need or as long as I let him know reasonably in advance. I guess it is more just I am not the type of person who would take off work to do things like that and can understand other people being frustrated when their coworkers do.

As for my own personal annoyances this whole having to dial the area code now for all local calls is really getting annoying. Hopefully I will have my hands trained to do it soon enough.

I just work with TV spots.

We will shoot them if the client isn't working with an agency that does it for them. Are y'all dealing directly with the station or an agency?

We have folks that sell in gboro, but we stick with Triangle and Eastern, NC people mostly (since the Triangle has a good FOX presence).

Right now my work is having this big push on using alternative transportation for commuting. They gave us free bus passes and have assigned some guy as the "alternative transportation expert." We're supposed to contact him if we have issues with not being able to use buses or whatever.

So I email him and tell him whenever I try to search for a bus from where I live to work on the TTA website, it quotes me a travel time of over 1.5 hours. I ask, "Am I just doing something wrong or does it really take that long? Is there some sort of park and ride express bus I don't know about?"

The email I get back from him this morning, "Oh just go to the TTA website and search for a bus from your address to work and it will tell you how long it takes." Guess I'll just keep driving to work

its a long stupid story so i will keep it brief

1. ordered new laptop
2. was told i had to travel 90% of the time to get the laptop i wanted (wat? ceo doesnt even travel that much!)
3. get told i'm getting this other laptop
4. 2 months later the laptop shows up
5. it almost got sent to the local office & not my home, where i asked it to be sent
6. laptop shows up
7. vpn doesn't work worth a shit & this new windows 7 is bullshit i dont understand
8. half of my files got fucked in the transfer
9. they didn't send me a docking station, even though i asked for one
10. they sent it to the office & now they're emailing me asking me where the fuck my desk is because i have a package

i am still using my old laptop even though its so slow it's like being on dial up & i have to have something to do while i wait for shit to load.

truth is that half the time i leave my laptop closed & do most of my work from my ipad & iphone because i am so frustrated with it. i also refuse to use the shared drive. take that corporate america.

There's this guy I work with. Title: Senior Surgeon. LMFAO... This douche bag can't even do Associate Surgeon work, and yet he gets paid so much more than everyone else to sit on his ass. No one likes him, he's fake as hell, and just needs to get his ass beat. He just surfs the net and talks to his wife all day. Then he has the nerve to tell all the other surgeons how poorly they are doing and how slow they are. He knows not to talk to me, I'll rip him a new one. The whole company is a joke. Really? You calculate the amount of work for each person to the minute? So, it is protocol to remove rat ovaries in 5 min/per rat (including induction of anesthesia, shaving and prepping). And according to YOUR calculations I should be able to do surgery on 108 animals in a 9 hour day? And that includes lunch, setting up surgery, cleaning up, paperwork, and maybe a bathroom break? I am pretty sure IACUC and AALAS would love to hear that one. There will be a day when I tell this guy (in front of all my coworkers) how worthless he is. And that day will be my last day there. I hope its soon. Sorry, had to get on my soap box.
