Meh, I think the players choked on this one.

Regardless of how a play is drawn up, the players have to step up and do it.

If Herb did force them to jack bad threes and all that jazz, then yeah, it's his fault.

But I'm pretty sure that most players on the court play to the system, and they have enough free reign to do what they need to do to get the best shot.

The players got timid. Instead of playing to win, they were playing not to lose. They played the offense, but no one wanted to take a shot, or try to create one at that.

I love how Ced usually had it w/ his back to the basket at the three point line as time expired on our most of our last second possessions. That was almost as good as BC having their center drive the court and shoot a three.

Yup, players fault.

Like I said, if Herb said "Go out there, take a heavily contested shot" then I would place the blame on Herb.

The system was ran the whole game. We made it to that point by playing the system. Don't knock the system. What happened that all of a sudden, we couldn't run our gameplan? BC all of a sudden figured us out and got good on D? Please. The D wasn't remotely good.

The players got scared. Nobody wanted to blow it. So in a wondeful act of team effort, they all blew it.

Anyone notice that Bethel doesnt shoot 3's inside of 5 minutes or so?

I know he has gotten a few shots blocked inside late in the second half in the past, but he's our best 3 point shooter...why doesnt he fire it late in the game?


Atsur is the only guy on our team with the balls to take a shot late in the game I think. Bennerman does it, some, but its usually Atsur. He fucks up about half of them. Also not knocking him, just observing. I'm saying others need to step up. If Ced is gonna be in the game, he needs to be drawing fouls. Fuck this high post shit when we're losing late.

player intimidation, scared players, players who don't have the balls, all lies on the coach.. he has to mentally prepare the players along with coaching them.. the reason it seems we play down to our opponents, is we treat everyone the same.. We don't prepare mentally for the cupcakes, arrogance shows itself, we think it's an easy win, then all of a sudden, you got a pumped up cupcake beating the crap out of us..

also.. our main problem lately has been rebounds.. lack of rebounds, especially offensive ones, lies on our style of basketball.

Most of our players are already on the other side, or are headed to the other side of the court while the ball is still in the air.. Duke and UNC always collapse the paint after the shot to get the potential rebound, unless of course Redick is shooting, where the odds of getting a rebound are slim..
