i was digging ditches and installing rigid conduit for electrical distributions to parking control stations all around NCSU campus, all the while wondering what the fuck happened to my life and why the hell I dropped out of Engineering school.

the ditches is what did it. 6 months later i was re-enrolled.

I lost my left arm and left eye after being hit by a drunk driver. It's been a hell of a journey over the past 10 years, lots of bad but also lots of good. And honestly, I try to look back at the incident as making me become a better person than I would have been had this whole thing never happened.

From 6/12-6/22 i was backpacking in New Mexico, then enjoying my last jobless summer.

Living with 6 or 7 friends in a house in Carrboro.

Working part-time at Elmo's Diner, RTI, and (temp, for a week) Glaxo Wellcome (in the middle of their merger with SmithKline Beecham).

Lots of basketball on weekends at Carrboro Elementary with local cooks and waiters, night time soccer in the middle of Shelton St, parties, parties, and more parties, walking past bars on Franklin St, looking in, because I wasn't yet 21 and couldn't afford to be in there anyway.

That was a good summer.

the whole entry was about freaking out about the SATs and getting into college and not knowing which college i wanted to go to or what i wanted to major in

10 years ago today I turned 15. It was my first birthday after my dad had left the country, and my mom had to go out of town for a medical emergency with her sister. I spent the day alone and it was pretty much my worst birthday.

i was in the Caribbean doing COMPTUEX on my destroyer. I had been onboard for about 2 months and it was one of the two big exercises before we left for deployment in november. we were the last carrier battle group to use vieques as a bombing and gunnery range.
