don't forget about lewandoski (sp?) who i think can play this year.

i think we have 2 more scholly's to give for 2007 if i'm not mistaken. i think our top target is definitely wright, and then smith and hickson maybe. green was clearly a backup option in the event that we don't land wright or smith. it's unfortunate that there was apparatly some sort of confusion on his part and he tried to commit to an offer that wasn't there. seems like that would mess things up if we don't get wright and try to come back to green.

i mean what do you say to the kid "well, we don't want you to commit right now, but if all of our shit falls through with these other guys we'll call you"

just a weird situation to be in. it's green's fault though, he jumped the gun.

^it's wrong. we may offer him if wright or smith decide not to come here, but after this situation i'm not sure he'd want to come. i would feel funny about it.

i think we have 4 scholarships left (if green doesn't actually have one). degand gets counted for 2006 and we offer 5 if we only had 3 in 2006

i think that's right

Tracy Smith is supposed to be visiting this week during the game. if you see him in the Fanzone, tell him how much we need him and how he'd probably make an instant impact. let's be honest we have some depth issues and he'd get plenty of playing time from the start.

I'm disappointed J.J. Hickson doesn't have a visit date yet (and 4 other schools do).

could be a guy that's already committed, johnny thomas. or the guy could be a retard and it could be simon harris. he is larry's son and is walking on and will be able to play in a year.

yeah but it didn't sound like he was 100% sure it wasn't one of them

i guess thomas is about the same size, maybe a little bigger than gavin

well, thomas is 6'5" and gavin is 6'7"

from the pics i've seen thomas is pretty ripped but not taller than gavin.

it might be lewandowski our 7'3" commit. dude supposedly needs a lot of work, and probably won't be a huge help for awhile.

i dunno. in basketball, when people talk about how big a guy is, height generally is a factor.

i should have posted it in here originally, but J.J. Hickson is reportedly coming for an official visit this weekend during the BC game. you know the deal, get the signs over the overpasses on I-40 up, the signs hanging over the upper decks, chants, strippers from Thee Dollhouse dancing in front of him while fireworks that spell out "J.J. Run With The Pack" go off in the sky above.

Sweet!! Everyone, if you dont think getting this guy is more important than anyone else, you are mistaken... We need solid height like J.J., and Him signing, just like Chris, could bring on a domino effect for top 10 recruits.

Run with the pack J.J.!!!!

Chances seem slim...he loves UF's recruiting class, and Tenn is pursuing him hard too.

I'd love to have him here, though.

ACC Basketball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SEC Basketball

Where would you rather play at? UVa and Clemson or Mississippi State and Ole Miss?

UF just won the title, though. It was a down year overall and possibly the weakest F4 ever, but they did win. If they use this as a boost for recruiting (as they appear to be doing) they could turn into a consistent power.

Dude that Maryland team was not a fluke. They were great for about 5 years there.

Juan Dixon is the best ACC player we have seen in a while IMO.

Yeah Maryland was pretty good prior to their move to the Comcast Center.

Quote :

Now come on, Juan Dixon was a great player, but just in the past few years (say 2000-Present) the ACC has had a number of players equal to or perhaps even better than him. Raymond Felton, Chris Paul, Sean May, JJ Reddick, Julius Hodge, Shane Battier, Josh Howard etc. i don't know if i'd put Mike Dunleavy over him, but he was deadly during his time at Duke. i think it's all subjective though. Juan Dixon was a damn good player, which is evident by him being the all-time scoring leader at Maryland, but let's not make him out to be on the legendary status that DT, Ralph Sampson, Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill, Len Bias, etc. are.

Juan Dixon won the 2002 NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and the 2001-2002 ACC Player of the year.

Shane Battier won the Naismith College Player of the Year, John R. Wooden Award, 2001 NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and the 2000-2001 ACC player of the year.

Besides with the talent that the ACC brings in each and every year, it seems quite probable that in the next few years we'll see another amazing talent such as Dixon.

Hickson's a big-timer. If he signed with State that'd be absolutely huge. I know he favors Florida pretty heavily at this point. He sees the success of guys like Noah and Horford and thinks he can be next in line. One thing that's in State's favor with Hickson is playing time. Hickson is constantly harping about wanting to go to a school that will offer him early playing time.

As someone else said earlier, Tennessee is also pushing extremely hard for Hickson.

If he were to commit that might influence some of the other big names like Wright and Hickson to give us a stronger look.

hes now #95 overall (#23 SF) http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=1151998
it still has us listed with a scholly, but that could have been from the last regime and/or before he committed to UVa

CHRIS WRIGHT LIKELY TO COMMIT TO STATE TUESDAY!

"According to sources, St. John's (D.C.) 5-foot-11 senior point guard Chris Wright is expected to hold a news conference on Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. ET at his school.
The same sources indicate that Wright, who hasn't spoken to the media in recent months, will choose N.C. State over Georgetown and Pittsburgh."

This could be huge. The rumor is that Wright is going to pick State; with him on board, we should be able to sign JJ...and with the two of them in place, we shouldn't have any trouble rounding out the class.
