Jeff earned that one... the #3 flag was a nice touch.

BTW, I'll bet he was cussin' like a motherfucker when Tony passed him there for a moment.

is anyone impressed with the COT races so far? comparing the racing, i dont think its all too hot. the busch race last night was much better then tonights race. (granted, it is the busch series and they race more risky then the cup guys..)

How the hell is Tony gonna decline an interview after finishing 2nd? He made a bawllz out move to take the lead 3-wide and then Jeff just willed his way out front... what's there to be mad about (other than allowing Montoya to finish the race?)

^Bristol and Martinsville are always exciting by nature... Pheonix is just a total shit track if you ask me. I want to see how it's gonna run on the 1.5 mile tri-ovals... I think those are the modern heart and soul of the sport.

I can see why anyone finishing 2nd would be mad, but he's given interviews mad before

^^idk..I liked the Gordon/Stewart exhange tonight...these races have been ok IMO. I think they'll get better as everyone becomes more comfortable with them, and willing to try more things.

I can understand him being upset. But it's not like he was somehow wronged.. he raced great and got beat, he just as easily could have won... Jeff may have rubbed him a little, but Smokey should be the last one in the world to get pissed about that. Tony is overdue for a win but so was Jeff. Tony should have given an interview. He owes it to his fans for what he's getting paid.

He don't care about his fans. He's just there to cause drama. And for hit little hissy fits he's had this year, I really hope he don't win a single race.

I had to listen to the finish on the radio, but I was hollering in the car and woke my boyfriend and Grits up! Tony just got beat when he tried his hardest, probably ever, to win.

Jeff deserved this, and he earned it!

Jeff did "earn" something when he re-passed Tony, but he is the luckiest son-of-a-bitch in the world to pit at just the right time. They were saying on tv it was the "call of the day" but they were just lucky IMO. My driver is Kyle Busch, but I think Denny was the best out there, it was a shame about the speeding. He said in the post-race that he really wanted to win this one for VT, and he sure drove like he did.

I like how NASCAR is trying to pass Phoenix off as a short track now (Ive heard it more than once this weekend on multiple networks) since people are starting to get tired of the same old boring tracks every week...not that Phoenix is one of the really boring ones, but its still no Bristol/Wilkesboro. I wonder if Darlington is a short track too?

I don't know for sure, but I would not be surprised if Stewart got the idea from Hamlin's post-race comments. Denny said (paraphrased) "I did everything I could to win this race for VT...I don't know what the speeding thing was all about, I went the same speed each time, I guess that was part of this week's entertainment

"Juan Pablo Montoya was fined $10,000 by NASCAR on Wednesday for making an obscene gesture on live television last week."

Quote :
"Two-time series champion Tony Stewart made the same gesture toward Jimmie Johnson during a March race in Atlanta this season and was not penalized. That also was captured on live TV, but NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said he was unaware of Stewart’s gesture when asked about it this week.

But Stewart’s gesture was so obvious that Johnson saw it from his rearview mirror and complimented Stewart the next week for being able to wave a finger while also preventing his car from crashing.

Stewart also made the same gesture at Carl Edwards last year at Pocono and was not penalized."

that's some bullshit

OMG...what a whiner! Thats the funniest crap I've read in a long time!

So...from now on lets just run the races. Who cares if there's oil, trash and beer cans on the track! I can't believe he is complaining about something being done for their safety, and the safety of the fans who keep them driving! Hey, while we're doing away with safety, lets stop using the HANS device that saved his life last year when he went sailing through the air!

Where's the oil, where's the trash, and where's the beer can when the caution is thrown?

That's the problem. It's gotten so bad that Fox has stated on the broadcast, "If we see it, we'll show it to you." Half the time, you're never shown the debris that brings out the caution.

This can't be the end of the Overdrive finish...They were talking about people good on gas now may be in trouble if there was a wreck and had to stay on the track till they get the wrecked car off and THEN finish.

And I like the name "Overdrive"!

Someone PLEASE shut Tony Stewart up!! He's such a bullshitter! And he's whining really bad today! He was like "I don't wanna say anything till I see a replay" Showed him, he complained that he couldn't see HIS wreck, then said that the 38 car hit him for no reason and he must have been still mad from yesterday's Bush race...COME ON!!! NOONE BUYS YOUR CROCODILE TEARS!!!!

^haha, that last pic reminds me of blasphemour's smile.

that was bullshit. they had just finished explaining the rules and they said that if a caution comes out during the "overdrive" that the field is frozen and they use video evidence to determine the results.

stewart was up there in the top 10 getting wrecked when the caution was waving, so if the field was truly frozen there then he should have finished in the top 10. what gives?

The caution did not come out immediately...it happened for a few seconds, while the unharmed cars got out of the way...then it came out. He had been passed and was not in the top 10 anymore once they threw the caution.

It's funny how they didn't throw the caution for Reutimann until about 2 seconds after Gordon made the pass. Hell, he was blowing up well before that, in the middle of the pack.

The feild is frozen when the caution comes out, but you still have to complete the remaining laps. Therefore, if the feild is frozen for a caution with 1 lap to go, and you run out of gas/wreck/blow up, you will lose those spots. And also you cannot be pushed around the track on the last lap.

just because the field is set by that moment, stewart cant sit on the backstretch with his thumb up his ass

he wrecks more people than 80% of the guys in nextel cup, but he always gets pissed when someone wrecks him

i wish he would retire, he whines like a carolina fan

Ha, yeah, you would wouldnt you.

My eyes get sore from all the eyerolling I do during a NASCAR broadcast, they have to come up with a phrase for everything, and they are ALL lame. Thankfully it rarely happens since most races are so boring I either find something else to do during the middle or fall asleep watching it.

Remember when NASCAR wasn't full of shitty bureaucratic decisions and pussy-ass drivers?

Remember when they just fucking raced the cars?

Remember when DW fought Dale Sr. in turn three at Richmond?

Remember when they fucking ran races at tracks in North Carolina?

FUCK NASCAR.
