^^ you can use the explorer or les paul with it on the 360 and play guitar/bass.
also, you can use a headset to sing. the only thing you need the set for is the drums. 12/8/2007 12:12:33 PM |

so how are you getting new stuff? my guitar seems a little off to me (compared to guitar hero) but a couple of my friends have no problem at all playing it. the drum pedal is hit or miss w/ the double tapping though...
oh, i bought 4 grey thin mousepads and a circle cutter and it works pretty damn well. they stay on w/o any adhesive for about half of a song, so i still need to find something to fix that (tape does not work), but it cuts the sound down dramatically w/o affecting the feel. i'll take some pictures and get them up later today. if anybody else is thinking of making some, i cut mine at 7.25".

you are not alone. the drum pedal is composed of an 'antenna' and a strong magnet. when the magnet is 'close enough' to affect the current in the 'antenna' circuit, the pedal is considered depressed. the problem with that is the point at which it reacts varies from one depression to the next and likewise the height to which you have to raise the pedal for it to be considered released varies as well. a real bass pedal isn't quirky like that at all though so it takes some getting used to.
for double- and triple-taps what I do is:
- start with the pedal depressed with your heel about 1/4 of the way up the pedal. - lift your foot and let it fall (don't force it downward) and let the spring bounce it back upward.
depending on the weight of your leg, you may have to experiment with your foot position. try and position it so the spring almost lifts your foot up by itself. you should also be sitting in a chair ("throne") high enough so that your knee is at around 90 degrees when the pedal is depressed. if the chair is low, more weight from your leg will be on the pedal so it will be harder for the spring to lift your foot.
with some experimentation it should get a bit easier. even so, it doesn't always register triple-taps. when I have some time i'm going to make a new bass pedal using a button and see if that helps.12/9/2007 12:26:28 PM |

Ive never played drums before, so I cant tell if my drums are broken, or i just suck.
Sometimes it seems to register two hits, or not at all, but I cant tell if its because I dont know how to play drums properly or not.
I have a feeling the two hits are when sometimes i hit the drum with the tip of the stick, and my arm keeps going down, and i hit the side of the drum with the body of the stick, does that make sense? 12/9/2007 1:40:27 PM |

i feel by red is faulty, especially on rolls...plus if i just sit there before a song and beat on the red it doesnt seem to register as fast or as many hits as i am doing...
i think i probably will send in the guitar and drums for new ones...then sell the guitar because i simply dont use it
has anyone done the felt mod or the mouse pad mod?

ugh
had to use the strat last night bc my les paul batteries finally died (for the first time)
i got used to it, and it is actually pretty effortless to play single note strands
but chords are an abortion on it.
i guess i'm just so used to that comfortable click i get to let me know i actually strummed, rather than the spongy feel of the strat that is hit and miss like a motherfucker
also my roommate got our first drum noise complaint, time to start looking at mods

I actually prefer the Strat for rockband...
Admittedly, it isn't as precise as my GHII controller, but I'm not playing rockband for precision, I'm playing to have an awesome time rocking out with my friends.
The strat looks and feels more like a Real Guitar and the downside to that is it feels less like a Guitar Hero Controller. I'll admit that I've missed notes before that I probably wouldn't have if I had that nice precision strum, but I'd trade that any day for the fun that is tapping on the "solo" frets or not having to hear that distracting click.
That said, when I play Guitar Hero by myself I'd prefer the old controller, but again that's because I play that for a different reason than rockband. 12/10/2007 9:13:53 AM |

i never got around to the pictures. i'll try to get to it tonight.
and, if you're curious, i used the thin Office Depot brand (we don't have a Staples) mousepads. they were on sale in the RM store for $2.79 each (normally $4something). i bought a circle cutter from Michael's (not Fiskars...some other brand, came w/ a cutting surface) b/c i didn't trust myself w/ scissors and i don't have an xacto knife. i'm going to pick up some rubber cement after work.

i've read some in here so i think everyone has said this but the guitar is a complete piece of shit.
I can't play any songs above easy because it won't register quick strikes on the guitar. will they fix that or is the consensus just use the guitar from GH3? 12/12/2007 12:02:54 AM |

However, what's the best way of going about getting a new guitar?? The downstrums most definitely do not all register. its fine on easy as i can just strum upwards, but anything past that is tough without strumming both ways. 12/12/2007 5:55:50 PM |

Just made some pads from cheap $3 mouse pads from office depot. They work great, no loss of feel but they are easily half as loud. I just have them taped on right now, I'm not sure I want to permanently affix them to the drums. 12/12/2007 11:13:39 PM |

rubber cement can be a permanent or temporary bond, depending on how long you wait after applying it to the mousepad before you put it on the drum. pick up a bottle and read the label. for a temporary bond, it'll roll and peel off easily. 12/13/2007 8:53:42 AM |

i'm buying a wireless guitar controller for guitar hero 1 and 2 as a christmas gift. is there a brand that makes a better wireless guitar? i've seen some that look like real crap for $30 and then nice ones from better brands in the $30-70 range. good brands or specific models to buy is what i'm looking for. i just don't want to buy a crap controller that conks out in a month since i'm having to order and ship it. 12/13/2007 5:55:42 PM |
