A good way to break the ice to whip out your bible and read your favorite passage out loud.
Others will quickly join in and before you know it, you'll have tons of friends and will be known as the cool guy on campus. 8/11/2012 8:51:38 PM

Some classes may work out that way (maybe all, depending on your major and your natural talent) but if you haven't developed any type of work ethic, you'll crash and burn." |
This. Been there, done that. Made one of the worst decisions of my life (transferring out of engineering into business) because I had trouble wrapping my head around why I hit the wall in MA241S. 8/11/2012 10:10:51 PM

Pretty much an identical story, though I'm doing alright for myself now. I'd still like to go back to school for a real degree. Business is such a fucking joke. 8/11/2012 10:17:19 PM

Probably said several times before, but worth repeating: A kind word to the support staff/dining hall/janitors/etc. can go a long way. There was a woman in UT named Alice who would stop between people and make my breakfast when she saw me come in, all I did was ask how she was doing when I would come in at other times.
Living in UT doesn't make you a better person or tend to have many positive associations. Grasp this as early as possible if you're living there.
If you're on the quiet floor, respect that concept.
Don't walk alone at night/early morning if it isn't necessary. You can get mugged/robbed on campus just as easily as anywhere else.
The 80/20 rule seems to apply for most of the group work you do. Try to figure out early who won't pull their weight and communicate with them that it will have negative affects on them as well as the group's grade. I've been in meetings where the first 40 minutes was spent bitching about how 1+ members weren't doing their part which was an even greater time waste.
Everyone is busy, it's not an excuse/justification. Get the work done.
If you meet a girl who says she needs help in calculus, most likely she's playing you because she likes you and one day will become your wife. Approach with caution (true story) because it worked at least once. 8/12/2012 9:53:23 AM
