Not sure if you guys heard about this but I just read on IGN that due to the impending end of the writer's strike, this season of Lost has been extended from the original 8 episodes to 13 episodes. I believe they are going to try and compress the storyline from the original original 16. Hopefully this means more answers sooner, but we all know it will just mean more questions. 2/12/2008 9:59:59 AM |

Yeah I read that they planned to shot an additional 4-6 episodes if the strike was resolved by February 15th. So hopefully they'll cover all the major plot points that they would in a full season and just cut out a couple filler episodes that don't do much to advance the overall story, of which they usually have several every season. 2/12/2008 10:04:46 AM |

going back to the person on the boat comments. i do feel that the "There were no survivors" comment could in fact mean that she should get rid of everyone who did survive because then that would make sense for what ben and walt were saying about everyone would die if their people came there. also, michael being on the boat would make sense because asian guy wasn't shocked at all to see that there were survivors there. 2/12/2008 10:46:22 AM |

I'm pretty convinced that ben jumped off that bridge and is the man in the coffin. Ben is doing everything in his power to keep these people (who we all should believe to be the true bad guys) from completing their mission. Jack helps the freighters bring ben and 6 others back and take over the island. The rest hide from them and are still on the island hiding in the future. Jack regrets never listening to Ben and realizes that Ben was his best chance back. 2/12/2008 9:08:44 PM |

this blog has the best per-episode analysis i've read yet http://lost-and-gone-forever.blogspot.com/2008/02/confirmed-dead-analysis.html
here's what he thinks about "Ben's man on the boat"
Quote : | "Ben’s Man. One last item before we go (I know this post is getting ridiculously long) – at the end of the episode, Ben saved his life by spouting out tons of information about Charlotte and her crew, ending with “I have a man on their boat.” Who is this man?
Well, everyone and their brother on the Internet are calling for it to be Michael, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Yes, Michael is slated to return to the show this season, so that makes sense – but nothing else about it would. Michael left Lost Island on November 27th. We’re currently at about December 24th (almost Christmas!). That’s less than a month, so it’s not possible that Michael went back to the real world and became a “mole” in Abbadon’s group to get on the Freighter before it left – so he must have ran into it after it set sail.
But even if before Michael left, Ben gave him some sort of satellite phone and gave him coordinates to rendezvous with the Freightors, why would Michael “work” for Ben by gathering information for him? He’s already paid a huge price for escaping with his son (killing two people), what else could Ben possibly have to hold over his head? I can’t think of anything unless Michael somehow discovers that the Freightors really would kill all the Survivors and siding with Ben actually is a chance for redemption by saving them – but that’s pretty far out there.
For me, it’s more likely that “always two steps ahead of everyone else” Ben probably had a few bodies back in the “real world” to be on the lookout for anyone that gets too curious about the Dharma Initiative, their experiments, or a Magic Island. That means that Ben’s man on the boat is probably an Other that we haven’t met before – since he’s been off-Island since the series started. But if Ben really does know all this, why was he surprised when he learned about Naomi landing on the Island last season? Wouldn’t he have known this was a possibility given the roaming Freighter in their area? Almost from that point forward, Ben has basically been in contact with our Survivors, not leaving him with any alone time to be talking on the phone to his “mole” – which again points to him having this information prior to Naomi’s crash landing.
I’m a big fan of Ben’s man on the boat being Minkowski – the guy who had a private conversation with Faraday early in the episode, but then was “unable to come to the phone” later in the episode… perhaps because he was discovered to be a mole. As for who Minkowski is, I’ve got no answer.

they're in a parallel universe. they were not meant to survive and live in the version of time they're in. thats why jacks dad is a alive in the world they go back to. when jack says they have to go back to the island because they don't belong here, he also means the time reference.
this could all be wrong, either way, desmond hume is key and we haven't been giving the guy enough dues. 2/13/2008 12:15:47 AM |

Here's the interview Cuse had with Michael Ausiello of TVGuide.com: It mainly talks about the how the season will be recorded (Wraith was talking about this at the top of this page)
Quote : | "Welcome back! Carlton Cuse: It's good to be back. It'll be even better tomorrow when the writers all start rolling in and we start getting to work... pending the vote, of course.
What came out of your meeting with ABC today? Cuse: Damon [Lindelof] and I are going to try and make five more episodes before the end of May, which is ambitious. But, we've found ourselves in situation where we had eight episodes of story planned, and we're going to try to fit that into five hours of the show. Even though it's going to be very hard to execute, we felt like any less would be doing a disservice to the story we had planned. We really want to give the fans the best possible experience and ending that we can to Season 4.
Any chance that the first of the five episodes will air the week after that last pre-strike episode— thus eliminating any scheduling gap? Cuse: No, there's probably going to be four weeks between the airing of the first batch of episodes and our new episodes.
What will happen to the three "lost" episodes? Will they roll over into next season's 16, or will they vanish forever? Cuse: Damon and I remain committed to producing the 40 additional hours of the show that we promised. We haven't figured out exactly when we'll put those other three on, but we're not eliminating them from the show. You will get those three episodes downstream.
I know it's early, but have you decided what will have to get cut from this season's arc in order to accelerate things? Are we going to lose some flashbacks and/or flash-forwards? Cuse: All those conversations will take place tomorrow when we actually start talking about story.
Is it possible that some guest actors you were planning to use before the strike may no longer be available now? Like, for example, Andrea Roth? Cuse: Yeah, there are a lot of issues that have to get sorted out. We're also in the middle of pilot season... We're kind of figuring out what has happened to all of our actors who have gone on to do other things. Literally, there are cobwebs on the couches in the writers' room. Call me in a couple of days and I should have more answers for you.
OK, last question: Have you come up with a code word for this season's top-secret cliffhanger? Cuse: [Laughs] Not yet. That's a very good point. We'll have to get on that. If you have any ideas, Mike, let us know.
(BTW, I was joking in my intro. I'm pretty sure I was Carlton's first. Wait, that came out wrong... ) " |

while I think a parallel universe or pugatory or hell or whatever is a cheap plot device, I do think it's likely that there is something funky going on with time and/or space. Time has been altered or harnessed somehow with Desmond's going-into-the-past experience and his future visions, and also with the strange aging of The Others. And Space is acting strangely with the island in general, and now with the discovery of a Darma Bear skeleton in Africa. I find this theory intriguing, from the Lost and Gone Forever blog.
Quote : | "But the big question surrounding Charlotte is the polar bear skeleton she finds in Tunisia, complete with Dharma collar. How in the world would a Dharma polar bear end up half-way around the world, in the middle of a desert. Furthermore, how did Charlotte know exactly where to look for this skeleton, and why did she only seem concerned about the Dharma collar?
Let’s lay some background. Dharma started in 1970. Oceanic Flight 815 crashed in September 2004. Based on the Flight815 ARG, the “fake wreckage” was found around Christmas 2004. Add it all up, and the polar bear skeleton can’t be more than 35 years old (which would match Charlotte’s comment of “you’re off by a few million years” to her cohort when asked if it was a dinosaur). The good news is that left outside in warm or hot weather, a polar bear carcass would become a skeleton in far less than 35 years (I couldn’t find this specific information on the Internet, but for comparison – a human body would take two to four weeks to become a skeleton in a desert). I know a lot of people are pointing to this skeleton as evidence of Dharma time travel / funky time, but based on this information, the skeleton proves neither.
However, there’s still the pesky question of how a Dharma polar bear went from the Island in the Pacific / Indian Ocean halfway around the world to Africa before dying in the middle of the desert. The one thing we can assume is that this polar bear started out in the Hydra Station on the Island (since it bears the logo of the station). For me, this doesn’t indicate funky time – but funky space. If you think back, this has really always been the case with the Island. From the Black Rock to Eko’s plane, things seem to appear on the Island that should be far far away in the world. I’m reminded of some of our discussions a long time ago about the concept of “vile vortices” – Bermuda triangly places that act as worm holes from one area of the earth to another.
Sure, the African vortice isn’t quite in Tunisia – but a concept like this could help explain how the polar bear got halfway around the world, then quickly died without food / water." |

More Lost news:
Quote : | "The writers' strike may end up being the best thing that ever happened to Lost.
ABC is said to be finalizing a post-strike spring schedule that not only hands Lost its best available time slot, but promises to further strengthen the network's stronghold on Thursday night.
According to multiple sources, ABC plans on airing this season's final five* Lost episodes on Thursdays at 10 pm/ET beginning in late April, where it will follow all-new episodes of Grey's freakin' Anatomy! Throw in fresh installments of Ugly Betty at 8 pm and you've got yourself the most formidable one-two-three punch since the early days of CBS' Survivor/CSI/Without a Trace smashup. Creatively speaking, I'd go so far as to say this rivals NBC's storied Must-See-TV juggernaut back in the '90s.
And I haven't even gotten to the best part.
The best part is that I'm hearing that ABC is strongly considering keeping this dream lineup intact this fall... and beyond.
I don't know about you, but this almost makes up for ABC's mishandling of [insert any number of show titles here].
* This just in: I'm now hearing that Lost's final arc may consist of six episodes, not five. No, Team Darlton isn't making an extra episode this season. Rather, the final installment of the current run (aka Episode 8) will likely be held to kick off the final batch of five. According to my spies, Episode 7 makes for a better, more logical, break. Discuss.... " |

if you look closely that "one" island is actually a big island with a little island off right next to it and two reefs.

my thought is that there could have been a whole separate complex in tunisia maybe before they decided to build the one on the island. one with the same 6 stations and all out in the middle of a desert instead of on a tropical island.2/13/2008 4:35:33 PM |
